Retry iOS & Android Cheats, Tips, & Hack for Unlimited Gold Coins & Bolts

Recently, as of late, the tap to move type games have become hugely popular, especially after the success of Flappy Bird. Retry is yet another one of those so infuriating yet you can’t stop playing type of games. While it is difficult to discern exactly what you’re supposed to do at first, you quickly pick up on perfectly timed taps and avoiding crashing into the clouds, cliff faces and the ground.

Retry is brought to us from Rovio, the same company the Angry Birds games come from, you operate your plane with the tap to move technique, if you hold down your finger, your plane will do loop-de-loops, take your finger of the screen and you’ll go crashing down. If you hit something, you die; various things you can hit are the clouds, the ground and cliff faces, luckily, as you fly from hangar to hangar, you are able to land and set one of these hangars as your retry point, so you don’t have to repeatedly have to go through the entire level, to set your retry point, you need to have collected at least one coin to set your retry point to a specific hangar, if you don’t have a coin, you can watch an ad to unlock the specific hangar .

Unfortunately it’s going to take a LOT of dying before you develop your own perfect technique, even in the very early levels, you are going to die at least ten times in each level and that’s in the easy levels. As you foray deeper and deeper into Retry, you truly begin to see how much of a troll game it really is, you encounter moving landmasses which makes getting through the levels without dying too much near impossible, I quickly lost count of how many times I died in those levels, despite how difficult it gets, success is possible, you just have to hope you don’t destroy your device first before you can succeed.

The game itself has a very retro feel to it what with its 8-bit graphics, which makes me feel very nostalgic about the old SNES Mario games, hopefully, this style, is something that will get more people more the younger generation interested in 8-bit games. Whilst the retro style can be a little bit played out in most games, Retry actually does it well and create a very fun and cute game to play whilst alos being driven crazy by its absolutely frustrating gameplay.

Retry is currently running version 1.4.3 and can be downloaded from the app store for free, it requires your device to be running at least iOS 6.0 or later, it is compatible with most iOS devices.

Retry Cheats & Tips

Whilst staying alive in Retry is almost a trick in itself, I have a few tips for the player who is just losing all hope in life itself because of this game. First of all, you should try to stick to using quick, short taps rather than long, looping taps, when your plane starts looping, it gets incredibly difficult to control as you end up flailing in all sorts of directions, stuck in a loop that you might not be able to recover from, that’s how I ended up dying a lot of the time. Short taps are the way to go.

Another thing I quickly picked up on was which finger I should use to control my plane, it quickly became evident that I was completely blocking my view by using my dominant, right hand, whilst using your left thumb to control your plane might not feel as natural, it definitely helps you to plan ahead as you can see what you may or may not crash into a lot easier. All you lefties out there, you got lucky. This time.

Something else that is useful to take advantage of, is the fact that you can safely land in water without counting as a crash, if you do find yourself stuck in one of those endless loops and there is water nearby, you can drop into the water without problem and even get out of the crazy looping, at the same time, looping can be very useful when you need to sharply avoid an obstacle or if you just need to back up to give yourself some much needed space so you can avoid a wall or something.

If you aren’t so good at maneuvering to the floating coins, but still really want to unlock the retry points, you can watch a quick ad, it’s definitely worth the shorts amount of time, just think how much less you’d have to fly through the entire level, before I realized what the retry points were for, I must have flown through the entire course twelve times.

Retry iOS Review

There were a whole lot of things that I really liked about Retry; one of the things I like is the fact that it isn’t just a complete rip of Flappy Bird; Rovio took the concept, added a whole bunch of better elements and truly made the game their own. I also like that it really doesn’t push you to buy more coins if you’re having a hard time getting them, instead, it offers an alternate way to unlock retry points that doesn’t require you to spend any money at all. Both the music and artwork for the game really add to the ambience of the retro style and create a really cool throwback feeling.

With every good game also comes bad points and Retry was no exception. The game, as fun as it is, get very difficult very fast, some of the levels do get near impossible which make it kind of hard to get fully addicted to the game. After over one hundred tries at one level, I promptly exited the game and proclaimed that I hated it.

What makes the game even more depressing is that fact that after you had crashed, you would leave like a little shadow where you had crashed and you would have to see all of your own death sites as you tried to make it through a particularly difficult level, you are literally decorating the walls with yourself, it’s very off-putting when you’re really trying to concentrate and all you can see are reminders of your failures to win.

Ratings:

Artwork: I give Retry a 9/10 for its artwork, whilst it isn’t saturated with heavy graphics, the 8-bit art style employed in this game gave it a nice level of quirkiness a lot of games on the market these days don’t have.

Music and SFX: I give the game a 9/10 for its music and SFX, like its artwork, the music is very quirky and has a bit of a retro feel about it, which induces wave of nostalgia.

Story and Originality: I give the game a 5/10 for its story and originality, that I can tell, this game has no backstory to it which kind of makes the game a little bit pointless, call me odd, but I like there to be a reason for purposely infuriating myself. As for originality, the concept behind the game is not new, but merely a take of what Flappy Bird did, they did take it and really make it their own so that’s definitely something.

General Gameplay: I give the game a 6/10 for its general gameplay, the controls are generally easy enough to grasp, however no instructions are initially given in the beginning and there is no tutorial so it is difficult to figure out exactly what the aim of the game is.

Addictiveness: I give the game a 7/10 for addictiveness, I know this game would have been so much more addicting for me had the levels been so much easier, unfortunately, I just ended up getting far too frustrated by it all and stopped playing pretty quickly.

Overall, I give Retry a 7/10, perhaps Rovio ought to retry and make the game a little better?
