So I’m actually only a recent fan of the Warcraft world and have only been playing for a little over two years. When Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft was released on the app store, it was an instant download for me.
Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft joins the ranks of freemium games and has been pretty well received by both fans and non-fans. As of September 2014, there are over twenty million registered Hearthstone accounts.
Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is a collectible card game which features turn based games between two players. Players must create a Battle.net account before they are able to play fully. The player is able to pick from a variety of game modes, each mode offers an experience that differs slightly from previous modes, and this creates a more diverse experience for the player.
The players will start off the game a small collection of the cards that are considered to be the basics. More powerful and rare cards can be obtained by purchasing extra card packs or can receive them as rewards from wins in the arena. Any unwanted cards can also be disenchanted, destrouying the card will provide the player with arcane dust , which can be used to create entirely new cards. New packs of cards can be purchased with gold, a currency which is gained by completing the random daily quests and winning card battles. You also require gold to obtain entry to the Arena.
The game itself is based within the Warcraft world, so many characters and locales are easily recognizable as people and places from the main game. This is something that is likely to draw in existing Warcraft fans to create a much bigger player base.

Each battle within Hearthstone is between two single opponents. The gameplay is turn based where the [players will take turns to draw cards and use what they have in hand in order to defeat their opponents. The classes that are available are Shaman, Thrall represents this class, Warrior, the infamous Garrosh Hellscream represents this class, Druid, Malfurion Stormrage represents this class, Hunter, Rexxar represents this class, Rogue, Valeera Sanguinar represents this class, Paladin, Uther the Lightbringer represents this class, Warlock, Gul’dan represents this class, Priest, Prince Anduin Wrynn represents this class and finally Mage, which is represented by Jaina Proudmoore.
At the beginning of each turn, you will pull a new card from the deck which contains a collection of preselected cards. You are able to choose to play the game with one of your available card packs or even build your own pack from the cards you currently own, if you aren’t confident enough to create your own battle deck, you can always just go with the basic card packs which allow for any new players to get to know the game a little better before they experiment with new card decks. Whilst the majority of most cards are available to you no matter which class you decide to play with, there are also some class specific battle cards that are limited to your specific class. This allows your chosen hero to display special abilities and attacks that your opponent may not have, which could give you great edge in battle.
During your turn, you can choose to play a certain number of cards and make attacks using either your own special power or by any available minions on your side of the field, which can be commanded to either hit the opponent directly or attack any minions that are [protecting them. All actions taken on your turn use up mana from your mana gauge on the lower right of your screen, as each turn passes, your mana will regenerate fully with an additional extra mana point, you are able to hold up to ten mana points. A higher number of mana points will allow you to send out more powerful minions onto the field, giving you a stronger defense and a better chance at doing more damage to your opponent. You start off the game with zero mana points and you gain a new point after every one of your turns. Both the hero and minion cards require a sufficient number of mana to be used and summoned to the field which ultimately limits what you are able to do with each of your turns, so you have to learn to be very strategic with your moves.
When a player has hit zero or one of the players chooses to quit the game, the battlewill be over. Completeing certain battles will give your hero experience and also allows you access to new cards which can have any level ranging up to level ten.
The matches take place on randomly selected battlefields which represents a certain place within the Warcraft universe, For example Orgrimmar, Stromwind, Stranglethorn, Pandaria and Naxxramas, there is also a special Goblins versus Gnomes themed area. Each different battlefield has its own design and special interactive features within it, but the location of your battle doesn’t affect anything with the actual battle, it just looks cool.
Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is currently running version 2.0.7283 and requires your device to be running at least iOS version 5.0 or later. The game is currently only available to play in the English language, All instructions are all in English, so Warcraft fans who want to play the game but don’t speak any English might be out of luck with this game. Hearthstone is available to download for free from the app store, with the option to purchase further premium in app content. The game currently holds a four and a half star rating on the app store and has mostly positive reactions from the majority of players.

Because of the amount of variable you have to consider within the game, no two games are the same and every person you enter battle with is likely to use a different strategy, so it is important t have multiple strategies which will allow you to have a broader range of attacks depending on what class type you are battling and what kind of strategy they are using.
In Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, there are multiple game modes available to play with. You can player PvP games online or you can do practice matches against the computer players. The most difficult way to ply is in the arena. If you’re just starting out, it’s best to get a lot of experience in the computer player battles, they’re fairly easy to beat and really give you an idea of what strategies you would like to use against certain types of opponents. Don’t move onto PvP battles until you’re absolutely certain that you’ve got multiple different strategies that work against all of the opponents you’ve come up against. Don’t even think about entering the arena until you know damn straight what you’re doing in this game, otherwise, you’ll come up against experienced played who will slaughter your hero in a mere few minutes, meaning that you’ve wasted gold on something you never even had a chance at to begin with. It’s harsh, but true. Until you know you are ready and have a ton of battles under your belt, stay away from the arena.
If you want to hack this game, bear in mind that your game is tied to your Battle.net account and if caught, you will get banned, so I would advise making a brand new Battle.net account that you won’t mind getting banned if it happens. Don’t use an account that is tied to any other Blizzard games because you’ll also most likely end up having your entire account banned, something which really isn’t worth it just to have unlimited gold or whatever on a free to play game. That said, there are many working hacks around, but just remember to exercise caution when applying these hacks.
Heathstone is yet another free to play game, but you shouldn’t get up in arms just yet. After quite some time playing this game, I found that it doesn’t display one of your classic pay to win scenarios, it doesn’t withold any content either. You can either take the easy way any buy all the good cards, or you can get yourself a little experience by playing through the game and getting the cards the long and difficult, but much more fun way. All the cards available in the game can be won by just playing through the game, leveling up any of the available class heroes, something which can be a very fun process if you’re the competitive type (and believe me, I am competitive). Early on in the game, you earn cards very quickly along with a number of basic cards that are able to be used in any deck regardless of what class you have chosen to play with.
The game doesn’t feel like it has any lack of structure as it has a great number of quests which can be played through to earn gold, which is something that a lot of games on the app store market today completely lack. To me, a game isn’t ant fun if youre just playing for the sake of paying, it needs to have some kind of structure or story behind it to be properly interesting to me.
The gameplay itself is incredibly easy to figure out, especially if your familiar with similar card games like Magic The Gathering.
Considering that Hearthstone:Heroes of Warcraft is Blizzards very first iOS port, it is incredibly well done. Even after several hours of play at a time, I haven’t noticed any gameplay problems, there has been no lag experienced nor have aI seen any frame rate drop.
The game enable cross- platform gaming as well which is great for any game, but even better for this game because you get rewardied for just logging in to your account on an iPad. Everything is the same on the iOS version as what the PC and Mac versions have to offer, so you don’t need to worry about missing out.
Hearthstone is not only a perfect example of what free to play games should be, but it is also a game essential for any card game lovers. The game is very easy to get into and enjoy. It has amazing art and sound and plays impeccably.
Artwork: I give Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft a 10/10 for its artwork. The level of artwork featured in this game rivals that of the art that appears in the full Warcraft games. It presents an amazing art style that looks absolutely amazing on a high definition iPad, maybe even better than other platforms. The amount of original art within this game is insane as each card differs from others. Considering how many different cards there are within this game, that a lot of art created by those dedicated artists.
Music and SFX: I give the game a 9/10 for its music and SFX. I love that it allows Warcraft players to be a little nostalgic as it reuses some musical pieces from the Warcraft 2 along with the Peasant “Job’s done” to tell you when your turn is all done with, it really creates a good throwback feel and makes you smile if you know the reference.
Story and Originality: I give the game a 9/10 for its story and originality. Whist there isn’t exactly a story within the game; the quests offer a great structure which gives you more of a reason to play more. The game itself is definitely original, if not similar to other card games.
General Gameplay: I give the game a 9/10 for its gameplay. Even after several hours of play at a time, I didn’t notice any gameplay problems; I experienced no lag issues nor any frame rate drop. Addictiveness: I give the game a 9/10 for its addictiveness. This is a game that you can find yourself getting very easily addicted to, provided that you aren’t the type that gets easily frustrated. It’s a very fun game, but can get increasingly difficult as you get further into the game. There are multiple different game modes which really gives you a choice of what level you want to play at which gives you a better playing experience.
Overall, I rate Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft 9/10.
