Dimensional Drift Cheats, Guide & Tips

Regular Show has been quite a success on Cartoon Network. As of May 2013, the show has been receiving 2-2.5 million views each week. The two main characters, a blue jay named Mordecai and a raccoon named Rigby serve as the groundskeepers of a park and due to their slacking habits, often find themselves between extreme supernatural adventures. Cartoon Network is famous for making games out of notable animated series and does a pretty good job at it, mostly.

Dimensional Drift is a free online kart racing game based on the famous Cartoon Network animated series “The Regular Show”. It is a browser based game which uses the flash player. In the near future, Mordecai and Rigby go to the nearby game store to rent The Ultimate Dimensional Drift game which has just came in the market and then play for 72 hours straight trying to set a new world record. At last when they succeed at beating the Universal Record, they come to realize that it was a trap set by Garrett Bobby, The Big Bearded guy to turn the park into portal between this world and a world from outer space. He has now returned into this world and turned the park into a racing arena. The only way to return the park into it’s normal form is to win all the races. As the groundskeeper of the park, Mordecai and Rigby, along-with Muscle Man, Margaret, Pops and Skips have decided to kick Bobby Garret out of the park by winning all races.

Gameplay is simple. There are total six characters and six maps to beat in the game. Each character has their own car with some weaknesses and strengths. There are six maps to beat and all maps have their own nature. You will have to choose a car for the given map based on the characteristics of the map. If it has fast but weak opponents, you must choose a fast car. If the opponents are strong, you must choose a car advanced in strength to survive in the match and so on.

Dimensional Drift Guide

Characters:

Every character comes with his own car so it is more of a car selection than a character selection. At first, the only choice you have is to play with Rigby. As you keep winning the matches, more and more characters become available.
Here, we have listed characters and types of cars they possess.

Rigby

Speed: Mid

Acceleration: High

Strength: Low

This brown colored short raccoon is the first character you are going to play with in the game. His car can only be used to win the first levels of the game.

Mordecai

Speed: High

Acceleration: Low

Strength: Mid

Mordecai offers a car somewhat same as Rigby but has high speed at the cost of acceleration. If you can avoid obstacles, you can easily win the beginner levels using this car.

Muscleman

Speed: Low

Acceleration: Mid

Strength: High

Muscleman is the first person to arrive with a heavy car in the game. I don’t consider his car to be one of the higher level cars but at least it can bear the attacks.

Margaret

Speed: High

Acceleration: Mid

Strength: Mid

Mordecai’s crush is the first person in the game to offer what I like to call the “Higher end cars”. By higher end, I mean a car which does not have anything below mid range. She comes in a coffeeshop cart with ice cream and stuff in the front panel and offers performance good enough to beat the previous levels with ease, hypothetically.

Pops

Speed: Mid

Acceleration: High

Strength: Mid

Pops offers a nice car with best acceleration and speed combo.

Skips

Speed: Mid

Acceleration: Mid

Strength: High

Skips is the last and my favorite character in the game. His car is a higher end car which additionally offers strength. If you play consistently, you can win easily with this car no matter how many times you get hit.

Car Decorations:

The game also has some items to customize your car appearance. The items can be divided into following catagories:

  • Flags
  • Horns
  • Rear-Bumper-Decorations
  • Tyres

All of these items can be bought from the game store. Once an item is bought, you will own it forever. If you have bought more than one items of the same category, you can switch between them anytime. There will be no cost of it as you own the items. You can use only one item of a category at a time. In all categories, the starting items are cheap. As you progress, the items keep becoming expensive and more beautiful. These items do not make any difference in the car performance. They are just the decorations to make the car appearance according to your taste and do a very bad job at that too. Most of the decorations, you will barely notice while playing the game so you might want to save your coins for some more important things.

Power-ups:

You can go to the store and buy power-ups for your car to give you some extra advantage over your enemies. The power-ups after bought, can be used only once contrary to the decorations which you can use for as many times as you want.
Power-ups are of three types:

Attack

Standard Attack: Standard Attack is the default attack and is automatically enabled if no other attack is bought. It uses an energy gun which shoots straight in the forward direction. Any enemy coming in it’s way will be slowed down for a small time.

Maximum Glove: Mordecai and Rigby tried to win a video game tournament in The Regular Show using the Maximum Glove. Though this prototype video game controller proved to be useless in the animated series, it is playing a good role in the game. When 1 key is pressed, the car releases a powerful glove from it’s front side which travels in a straight path and hits any car in it’s way to slow it down for a small time, but enough for you to get ahead of it.

Baby Ducks: The baby ducks who used to live in the fountain of the park and were helped by Mordecai and Rigby in getting back with their mother are also back to help us win the park back from Giant Beardo Face. Upon pressing 1 key, four baby ducks emerge and move in straight trajectory slowing anyone who comes in their way.

V.I.C.K.I: It is a pack of all dangerous tools packed in missile shaped weapon. Upon activation, two missiles appear at each side of the car and front enemies are gone!

Defense

Standard Defense: Standard defense is free and is available in every level by default if no other defense pack is bought. Standard Defense makes a bubble around the car which saves it from any attacks from behind.

High Five Defense: You can buy a 1 handed ghost to help you with a single level for 100 coins in the game store. When the power-up is activated, the ghost starts revolving around the car and saves it from attacks from opponents.

Guardian Block: From the guardian’s world, these blocks will wrap your car and keep it safe for a limited time.

Hammer Time: Our last defense strategy in the game is the Hammer Time. They are correct about him when they say “Hammer cannot be defeated”. He seems to be as tough as he is in the Regular Show.

Speed

Standard Speed: Same as Standard Attack and Standard Defense, Standard Speed comes for free and is the weakest speed boost in the game. But better than nothing!

Coffee Coffee: This boost uses the power of coffee to speed the car up. Enough said!

Black Hole: This boost uses the infinite energy of a black hole to get you ahead of you opponents. Usually black holes suck everything, I have absolutely no idea how did they manage to get energy out of it. Science maybe.

El Diablo: In my opinion, this should be in the attacks section instead of speed. For those who do not know, El Diablo is the name of a firework which was said to be going to destroy it’s own dealer if lit. Needless to say Rigby got it out resulting in the death of dealer and a lot of damage.

Nitro: Apart from the power-ups, your car also has nitro. It can only be used once and is fully charged at the start of level unlike the speed boosts. I have found it to be most useful at the start of the level because it gets you ahead of all other players and prevents any possible collisions which end up slowing you down.

Dimensional Drift Tips, Tricks and Cheat

Use your power-ups as much as possible. They take fixed amount of time to recharge and then keep lying there if you do not use them. One thing is for sure, you cannot win the game without the use of these powerups. Keep using them as much as you can.

In the levels, there are multiple glowing arrows in the ground. Passing from above of them will act as a speed boost. Use them as much as you can. Use your speed boost as soon as possible to get ahead of the enemies. Do not save it for later. If you keep travelling parallel to your opponents, they will they will keep smashing your car and slowing you down. Same goes for start of the game. Keeping the up arrow button pressed before the start of the game will give you a small speed boost and get you ahead of the enemies. You can also use nitro at the start of the game if the speed boost is not charged yet. Just get ahead of your opponents as soon as possible.

dimensional-drift-cheats-tips-guide-3

Every map has some obstacles in it. Keep an eye on them. From their motion, you can judge where they will be when you reach the spot which will help you avoid them. If you can just avoid the obstacles and hitting with walls, you can easily win this game.

You will be attacked many a times from behind. Just ignore it because it does not make much difference in speed and no matter how much you are hit by your opponents, you can easily win every level if you use your power-ups as much as possible and avoid hitting the obstacles and walls.

As I mentioned earlier, there are two types of cars in the game. The lower end cars and the higher end cars. Higher end cars are those whose all attributes are mid or high. Margaret, Skips and Pops own high end cars. Use them whenever possible.

Dimensional Drift Review

While talking about development at early stages of the game, the developers said they were facing three challenges while making the game. First was to make the game hard enough that when a player would win a level, he would actually feel he has achieved something unlike most of today’s games which are a walk in the park.

Second challenges for them was to create stunning graphics and third was to make a game with cars that are not only customizable but also have a “real” balance between them. In my opinion, they have done a real HORRIBLE job at all three of them.

dimensional-drift-cheats-tips-guide-1

First of all, let’s come to the difficulty of the game. The game is too hard for the age group at which it is targeted. At final stages of the game, you get attacked from behind every 5 seconds or so. I did not feel any difference in the so called different cars either. I played with the last car on the first level after finishing the game and it was ditto as the first car I ever used. Hard means something thrilling, something which you cannot do in the first attempt but keep getting better as you do it repeatedly.

Secondly, graphics of the game are good for a browser based game but they, by no means are “stunning”. I have seen far better graphics in browser games.

Third, the talk about customizability of the car is a total joke. As I said earlier, I did not feel any difference in the cars. Customizations are decorations. They are not performance customizations. Deep down, I suspect there is just one engine for the car and different skins are assigned to every character’s car.

Ratings:

Story and Originality: There is absolutely no story in the game. Just a bunch of characters from the Regular Show which are combined with some cars to make which I would call a very sloppy game. 1.5/5

Artwork: Artwork of the game is good but not as much as emphasized by the developers team. 2.5/5

Addictiveness: There are no customizations in the game, a total of six levels and very low earning to spending ratio of the coins. ⅖

Overall Score: 2/5
