Fusion Your Troops Until Level 4: When it comes to fusion in this game, you want to make note that you should continue to fuse your troops until you reach level 4. Once you reach level 4, it becomes fairly pricey to fuse your troops, which means you are better off just building up more regular troops than trying to fuse the troops. If you haven’t thought about this yet, fusion in Age of Sparta is basically combining your troops together to make a super version of that level. For example, if you have 3 troops that are level 2, you can fuse them together to almost make a super troop, which means they are vastly superior to all other level 2 troops that are not fused. Not only does it level up the troops, but it makes their abilities stronger than what that level abilities state, so it’s like a nitrous-booster for your troops. If you fuse your troops together below level 4, it’s almost guaranteed you will win the battle, since a lot of people forget to fuse together early on. No matter what level you are, whether it’s level one or two, fusing the troops together is a great way to give yourself a competitive edge, and almost guarantee you will win every time.

Use Air Combat Early and Often: Once you kind of get the hang of how battles are done in Age of Sparta, you will realize that having air troops and abilities are far superior to on-land combat. You want to make sure that you do spend a little of the gems and coins to get a good air troop together, which will help you defeat a lot of the more difficult characters coming up in the game. Fighting by air is a lot easier and it’s a lot easier to pull out a win, even if the person you are fighting is a little higher in rank or stats that your character. There are a ton of different creatures and types of air assaults you can dish out, but make sure getting an air unit becomes your priority fairly early on in the game, as this is one way you can literally find yourself on the winning side 90 percent of the time.

The biggest and earliest building you have to construct is the wheat farm, and you can get all your buildings constructed faster by spending 2 gems to fly through the process. You might think that spending 2 gems to get the buildings build quick is a good thing, but it’s also a good way to run out of gems before you have the resources to earn more, which will leave you dry when it comes time to getting more weapons. Some of the buildings will produce items you will need throughout the game, such as getting revenue from citizens, while other buildings will be the focal point for the army. Some of the army buildings include air, infantry, and god units. You also have buildings specifically for the population, and all of these buildings need to be protected and upgraded in order for Greece to survive. The only negative aspect of the buildings is that you can’t rotate them at all, so they are just one angle all the time, which can be an issue later on in the game as you begin running out of room to put all of your structures. It would be better if they could be rotated around that way you can place them anywhere, instead of having to wait for the green indicator on the screen to let you know that you can place that building in that location.

When you first load up the game, you will have the ability to go through a fairly detailed tutorial, which is good if you don’t know how to play this game or even what the main concept of the game is. The tutorial will help you begin building your city up and will show you what items you need to get, such as a wheat farm, but it almost tricks you in the beginning. The tutorial really makes building your city fairly simple, because it tells you what you need and how to make it work out to maximize both the use and monetary value of it. You will get irritated though with the fact it takes a good 10 minutes before the tutorial goes away, since it is very detailed and even walks you through your first battle. The tutorial will also have you spending your gems rather quickly and almost like it’s nothing, so make sure you are paying attention to what the tutorial wants you to purchase with the gems.

When you begin playing this game, you will realize that Age of Sparta has an in-game coin system, which is where you get upgrades to your gear and all of the production items needed for your town. You will need to keep a constant supply of coins and gems around due to the fact that is how you can purchase other items and buildings, but there is also a faith part of this game as well. If you are just starting out in the game, you may not have that steady source of income yet, which is when you might decide to purchase premium items. These premium items, which are the gems and other jewels, can also be gained through some quests and missions that will be going on throughout the game as well. One thing about the co-op ability is that you also have an in-game chat within the game, which can be really annoying because it stays on the bottom of every area in the game. This in-game chat is something that I found to be intrusive and annoying, especially if you are not someone who enjoys chatting, and would just rather play the game without other people asking for help or asking for things. The in-game chat would be nice to help you form alliances and figure out the best ways to go about defeating certain characters, but overall it’s really annoying. No worries though, you can choose to get rid of the in-game chat option by going into the settings menu on the main board, so it’s easy to turn this feature on and off when you want.

As you make your way through the landscape of this game, you will realize that you need to continue adding structures to your city, but this is one of those parts that can be very much a headache. The game wants to you constantly add to your area and put in more farms or barracks, but it takes either coins or gems to do this. You will find yourself needing to purchase more land because you can’t fit all the buildings you need to in the space provided when the game starts, especially as you get further into the game and depend more on your resources for income. It’s difficult to keep adding to your buildings and expand your space within the game, because more often than not, it will require you to at least make a couple of purchases to get more gems. While this game is very fun when it comes to creating your city, it’s also very easy and likely that you will spend real money to make everything as maxed out as you can and then increasing your space to max out the buildings and monuments even more.

Overall this game is really fun because you can use Hade’s wrath during battles and it’s so intense to be in the battle scenes, almost like you are watching a movie of the action in HD. You get sucked into fighting off the evil Xerxes, whether it’s building up your own troops or calling on friends in a real-time player-vs player ally situation. There are a few hiccups though, such as sometimes you will lose focus of where your troops are in the game, and you have difficulty adjusting the screen dimensions to make sure you know what’s all going on, but you just need to really keep your eyes open and pay attention and you can fairly quickly find all your troops. Overall, it’s a very good strategy game with a lot of player vs player combat and also a lot of great graphics and battle scenes. You will find yourself wanting to do co-ops and joining forces with other players to progress through the game, because it’s always good to have back up at your disposal for the later fights. It’s fun and easy, but also there is a lot of strategy that you will need to find and figure out in order to keep your city running smoothly, earning money, and how to beat the boss at the end.

Gameplay: When it comes to Age of Sparta, you will be impressed with the overall gameplay, because there is no lag or connection issues, but it’s also a very detailed and intense game you will feel like playing for hours on end. The battle scenes are done really well, with arrows and air assaults helping you climb your way to the top of the ladder and defeating Xerxes. You will also enjoy the various player vs player options and co-op abilities that let you either befriend your allies or sneak in and destroy their cities. You will feel like you have a lot of options when it comes to making your city and getting resources, which then turns into increasing supplies of gems and coins, which can then be used to build up a vastly superior army. Considering this game just came out, it’s surprising at how few issues or glitches there have been, so this game gets a 9/10 on gameplay alone.

Music: As far as the music goes, it’s fairly normal action strategy type of sounds, with the sounds of arrows and fighting during the battle scenes and quaint music in between. You will realize that the sounds and music changes depending on what you are doing, but it’s never loud or annoying, and the selection always seems to be appropriate for the circumstances. The music and sounds get a 9/10 because it just makes sense when you realize how the music compliments the situation, whether it’s building your city or engaging in a tough battle.

Graphics: The graphics in this game get an 8/10 because it’s fairly intense as far as the battle scenes go and the details on the characters, but it doesn’t lag the game down at all. You will really be stunned at how well the game looks on the mobile device you are using, and you will feel like you are watching an action movie on your big screen HD television. It’s really impressive to see the city and all of the trees and the grass surrounding you, and it’s fun to see your city quickly become a vast business-like part of town by just clicking a few buttons.

Overall: When it comes to the overall rating for this game, it easily gets a 9/10 because it’s just a fun game that relies not just on your ability to fight off the evil creatures, but also relies on your ability to cooperate and help others. Through the social currency, player vs player, chats, and alliances, you will come to realize this is more than just a game that you can play by yourself. The battle scenes are pretty epic, although the controls are easy to remember and carry out, so it’s a combination of easy use plus strategy and skill. You will find yourself not wanting to put this game down because there is just so much to do and so many ways to achieve your goals that you will want to mix it up and do a lot of different things at once.
