Music and SFX: I would give MMX Racing a 7/10. It is decent with all the revving noises and all the car sounds that the game offers. It’s nothing unique compared to other games and doesn’t exactly give a unique feel to the game. But what can you expect from music and SFX. The music does give you a bit of a feeling of excitement or tension that’s building up from playing the game or starting a race off.
Story and Originality: I would give MMX Racing a 5/10. It doesn’t really feel like the game really has a story to it. It’s mainly just getting the best possible car and trying to get past a bunch of races in order to get more money and receive better cars and get more bonuses. So it really doesn’t have a story to it because it’s just racing other cars. You’re not like, having a clear objective to the game, which other games have. You either go for the most stylish cars or the fastest cars. It isn’t very original either. There are other racing games that have this type of racing format. But MMX Racing is unique in its artwork because the graphics are amazing for this game.
General Gameplay: I would give MMX a 6/10 because it doesn’t really have anything unique. The gameplay is simply going off on hills and trying to land better than your opponent. The start boost is often really easy to predict and becomes very easy after a couple of tries, experimenting the timing of the maximum speed boost. Then the jumping and landing becomes very easy after the first few races. After you get all of this down, it just comes down to making better tricks. The gameplay is more boring than anything. There’s nothing to add to the game because the mechanics of the game are so obvious and easy. If a multiplayer was added, it’d be hard to distinguish players who are skilled and those who aren’t because of the lack of difficulty in the game.
Addictiveness: I would give MMX a 7/10 because it is a bit addicting because you want to get the best bonuses and do the best possible in terms of bonuses. It keeps you on the game for a while. Although the gameplay is boring, the artwork makes up for it. The detail on each car is really good so you kind of want to get the best looking car possible, or another goal that I see a lot of players looking for, is to have the fastest car. Both of these goals lead to people continuing to play the game. So that really helps with the addictiveness factor of the game. If they wanted to add more to this, they’d have to add a multiplayer mode so that players would be inclined to continue practicing the game in order to beat their friends, or climb the leaderboard in terms of the best players.
Overall, I would give MMX Racing a 7/10 just because the artwork is so nice, and that, consequently, makes it pretty addicting.
