If you enjoy sports and have access to the internet, chances are that you have seen the complete awesomeness that is Dude Perfect’s YouTube channel. On this channel they do things with different sports equipment that most people would deem as impossible feats, such as throwing a baseball through the open windows of a speeding car, or tossing a basketball from the nose bleed seats in a football stadium into a hoop placed way down on the field. They have the world record for the longest basketball shot made, have been featured on ESPN, and recently were drafted by the Harlem Globetrotters. If you haven’t checked them out already, head over to www.youtube.com/dudeperfect as soon as you are done reading this review! But enough about them, let’s get into the review of their new mobile game, Dude Perfect 2.
Dude Perfect 2 is a sequel to their first mobile game, Dude Perfect, which has amassed over one hundred thousand downloads on the Google Play store and is available for $0.99 on both ios and android devices. Their new game introduces a new free to play model which may make some people happier or some people more disappointed with the new game depending on their preferences. The game itself is very similar to what Dude Perfect specializes in, making insane trick shots. But these aren’t just any ordinary trick shots. (Although can you really call any trick shot ordinary?) You will be asked to attempt to shoot balls over buildings, in outer space, through ice and various other obstacles, and into hoops that are placed in various hard to reach places. You have a set number of balls and you have to successfully complete shots into any hoops that are present in the level, depending on how few or how many balls it takes for you to do that, you will be awarded a score of 1-3 stars based on your level performance. The game also uses an energy system where each time you play a level you will lose one bar of energy and once all your bars are depleted you will have to wait for them to refill before you can continue playing.
Dude Perfect 2 uses Google Play games to backup your save file to the cloud so that it can be accessed on multiple devices without having to start over from the beginning each time you redownload the game. Google Play games also gives you access to over twenty different achievements for you to challenge yourself to unlock, these achievements range from finishing ten levels with three stars to using a power-up a certain amount of times. Getting access to all this is quite easy, when you first open the game you will be prompted to log into your Google Play games account and once you complete that then you will be ready to play the game for the first time.
The first few levels of the game will introduce you to the controls and power-ups which are all quite simple and smooth the access and use. To aim the ball you just drag the arrow that is coming out of your character to whatever angle you want to place it at, then to adjust the power you are putting behind your shot you slide your finger across the screen which will fill up the arrow more or less depending on how much power you are using, then finally to shoot you just tap the ball icon in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Throughout the game, several different balls will be introduced for you to use. Each of these balls has a different purpose that will assist you in completing the tricks shots in whatever level you are playing. For example, the normal basketball can be thrown far and accurately but cannot break through obstacles such as ice, in order to do that you will need to use the bowling ball which cannot be thrown as far or accurately or as far, but can smash through any obstacles in its path. There are also several different power-ups that are introduced throughout the game, you can find these power-ups in the upper left hand side of the screen represented by colorful icons that resemble what each power-up does.
Guideline -This power-up displays a dotted line that shows you the path your ball will travel once your shot is released. This can prove incredibly useful when you have complex shots that may have to bounce off of several different walls obstacles or when the hoop is in a hard to reach area that requires precision aiming to successfully reach.
Magnet – This power-up creates magnetic fields around any and all of the hoops in a level. when a ball reaches a point close to a hoop it will be drawn in by this magnetic field and will go through the hoop almost effortlessly. This power-up can prove immensely useful on levels with multiple hoops that are difficult to make shots into on your first attempt otherwise.
Air Strike – This power-up is easily the most powerful and useful of them all. By selecting this power-up you will summon a basketball airstrike which will rain down basketballs all over the screen. This power-up is best to be used on levels that you know for a fact that you will have a lot of trouble beating otherwise because it will pretty much always end up beating whatever level you use it on with three stars and minimal effort on your side.
These power-ups are given to you in small amounts early in the game and can be restocked using the in app currencies that you receive for completing levels successfully. It is probably best if you save the power-ups for late, more difficult levels because not many are given to you and it can take a large amount of in app currency to purchase more.
There is also a nice amount of customization available in Dude Perfect 2. You can choose from a multitude of available characters and balls, such as superheroes, football players, and ninjas for the characters and smiley face balls, spiky balls, or even American flag balls (The fourth of July is rapidly approaching us, a perfect excuse to drop some coins on one of these) for the balls. There is even a level editor that can be unlocked to create your own custom trick shot levels.
Dude Perfect 2 is currently sitting at version 1.8 and works on both phones and tablets. It does require that you own either an android device with android version 2.3 gingerbread or later or an ios device running ios 6.0 or later, giving it a very large pool of compatible devices.
There are several different in app purchase options for Dude Perfect 2 that can be used to give you that extra edge that you may need to complete certain levels. These in app purchases are for the two different kinds of in app currency which you will receive in the game which can be used for buying different characters, balls, power-ups, and for refilling your energy. The two different kinds of in app currency are coins and cash. the coins are given to you in much larger quantities in the game and are generally used for power-up purchases, while the cash is given to you in much smaller quantities in game and is generally used for purchasing new characters or balls. There are six different coin packages available for purchase, a $2.13 option that will get you 2500 coins, a $3.20 option that will get you 5000 coins, a $5.34 option that will get you 8400 coins, a $8.55 option that will get you 14000 coins, a $16.05 option that will get you 30000 coins, and a $32.10 option that will get you a whopping 65000 coins. (Although if you are spending that much on a free to play game you may need to seriously reconsider your life choices) There are also six different cash packages available for purchase, a $2.13 option that will get you 80 cash, a $3.20 option that will get you 125 cash, a $5.34 option that will get you 240 cash, a $8.55 option that will get you 400 cash, a $16.05 option that will get you 800 cash, and finally a $32.10 option that will get you 2500 cash. The pricing for these in app purchases seems pretty random compared to most games but I’m sure the developers have some reasoning behind the pricing.
Dude Perfect 2 is such a fun game, but it’s hard to get items you need and progress through the game without enough coins and cash. You can get coins and cash through the app store, but this costs you real money, and that really gets expensive. If you don’t want to spend real money on the game, you can download our free hack, which gives you coins and cash in unlimited amounts free of charge.
If you look at the image below, you will see how simple the Dude Perfect 2 hack tool is to use. The options menu is where you will enter the amounts of coins and cash that you want to add to your account.
If you would like to get the coins and cash for free, just simply download our free Dude Perfect 2 hack, which you will find right here on the website. It takes about 20 seconds to download, and it will automatically install afterward, which also takes around 20 seconds. Then, you need to select either iOS or Android depending on the device you are using. After that, just enter the amounts of coins and cash that you want to add to your gaming account.
Lastly, press “Start” to begin the hack tool, which takes no more than 30 seconds to complete. Once that has finished, you can open up the game as normal, and you will find that the cash and coins have been added to your account.
There are not really any straightforward ways of cheating in Dude Perfect 2 without hacking your app file (not recommended) but there are several strategies you can use to help yourself progress through the game faster and easier than you would otherwise.
One strategy is to make sure to get three stars on every level, doing this will get you more rewards than you would for achieving one or two star scores, which is useful when you need to purchase any power-ups or refill your energy bar. The easiest way to do this is when you play a level for the first time to use as many balls as it takes to figure out how to successfully make each shot, then after you figure out how to make all the shots needed to complete the level with the least amount of balls possible, restart the level and do just that.
Another way to make the game easier is to use power-ups when you are stuck on a level, the power-ups in the game decrease the difficulty immensely and when used correctly can pretty much beat any level for you.
I personally thought that the user interface was put together very nicely and was always very smooth to operate and I never experienced any performance hiccups. The buttons are all placed in easy to access places while playing the game and everything looked visually pleasing, from the menus to the levels themselves. I felt that the map interface was a nice touch for the level selecting screen as it added a sense of completion and progression to the game play, as it makes you more motivated to get as many stars on levels as you can in order to unlock the next section of the map. The fact that the levels in each separate section of the map had a different overall look and feel to them was also a nice touch, as it added a pleasing amount of visual diversity to the game. Dude Perfect 2 also has a fun soundtrack, with catchy rock and electronic beats that fit in very nicely with the overall feel of the game, although after a while they can prove to be slightly annoying.
The game play is incredibly fun and addictive, and no two levels are alike which really helps keep Dude Perfect 2 from getting repetitive or boring. The added sound effects from Dude Perfects YouTube channel are also quite entertaining and will be greatly appreciated by any fans of the channel such as myself. I did however find the free to play model of game play to be slightly frustrating at times when my energy bar would run out or i would want to purchase something only to find out that the price was so high that I would be forced to spend real money to ever be able to unlock said item. Despite this however, the game can definitely be played and beaten without ever having to spend a cent.
I was already a fan of Dude Perfect from their incredible trick shots that they showcase on their YouTube channel and I am a fan of sports related games so I naturally had a great time playing Dude Perfect 2. It is an incredibly fun game to play, and the challenging levels help keep the game from becoming stale as you will constantly be pushed to think outside of the box in order to make the trick shots.
Artwork: I give Dude Perfect 2 a 9/10 for its artwork. The cartoon style and the bright, colorful graphics are very nice to look at and combine to make an overall very aesthetically pleasing game.
Music and SFX: I give Dude Perfect 2 a 8/10 for its music and SFX. The music was nice and catchy, although slightly annoying after playing the game for a long amount of time while the sound effects were a real nice touch that definitely added a good amount of depth to the game play.
Story and Originality: I give Dude Perfect 2 a 10/10 for its story and originality. It is a very fresh and new game and I have never played anything else like it. Progressing through the levels on the map also made for a nice touch to the story.
General Gamplay: I give Dude Perfect 2 a 10/10 for general gameplay. The game plays very smoothly and is not very difficult to just pick up and start playing. Each level was a whole new experience and it is a very hard game to put down once you start playing.
Addictiveness: I give Dude Perfect 2 a 10/10 for addictiveness. It is an incredibly fun experience which is very easy to start playing and get absorbed into the game, only to realize later that you have been playing for the past 10 hours and are now late for work because of it.
Overall, I give Dude Perfect 2 a 9.5/10
