It has an overall rating of 4.1 stars out of 5 and it will certainly challenge your mind to think outside of the box to create working bridges.

The goal of the game is fairly simple, build a bridge to get some cars or trucks from point A to point B. You are tasked with helping the people on the made up island nation of Camtuga which was struck by series of detrimental earthquakes which somehow ended up destroying every single bridge on the island. You are given a budget and materials to use for construction of your bridge and you will need to make a bridge that can hold up when driven across in order to complete the level. There are over 40 levels in the game of increasing difficulty, and the paid version has over twenty additional levels and various other features, along with being add free.

Bridge Constructor Free has the options to sign into both Facebook and Google Play Games. Signing into both is a simple and quick process. Signing into Facebook allows you to share your levels and high score with your friends while signing in with Google Play games gives you access to 14 different achievements and online leaderboards as well as being able to back your game save up to the cloud so that it can be accessed across multiple devices.

The first few levels of the game basically serve as a tutorial, teaching you about the different materials you can build with and how to build a successful bridge. You will start of only having access to wood for building your bridges, but as you progress through the game, more materials such as cable wiring and cement will become unlocked and available for use. Each material has its own pros and cons and it is up to you to decide which will serve you best in your bridge construction. Building the bridges is fairly simple, you simply select the material you would like to use and then draw out your design with your finger. After your design is complete you can test it using either cars or trucks. If the vehicles can make it across the bridge without plummeting to their untimely demise then you will beat the level. The base option is to have the cars drive across but you can also select the heavier trucks which will give you a higher score if they can make it across. If you accidentally make a mistake while building you can delete it by either clicking the undo button which is located in the lower right hand side of the screen or by double clicking on the part you would like to delete. There are several buttons placed on the screen along with slide out menus. On the main screen when you are playing a level you will have buttons for hints or building without a budget in the top left hand corner, buttons for changing the zoom level in the lower left hand corner, and grid adjustment, undo, and test buttons in the lower right hand corner. If you swipe in from the left side of the screen some hidden menus with more buttons will appear, on the left hand side you will find buttons for saving your level progress, loading saved files, and erasing your current design, on the right hand side you will find the different material options available for your bridge.

There are two different power-ups that are available for your use in Bridge Constructor Free, you get them by using the coins you have earned in the game although it will be difficult to access them without paying for the full version of the game.

Hint – There are two different versions of the hint power-up available for different amounts of coins. One will give you blueprints to follow in order to make a working bridge and the other will make the bridge for you although I personally recommend just using the first one as it is less expensive and will usually serve you just as well as the more expensive option.

Build Without Budget – The build without budget power-up does exactly what it sounds like, it allows you to build your bridge free from any budget constraints, this will make harder levels much more manageable as you will be able to give your bridge virtually unlimited amounts of support.

Bridge Constructor Free uses a very bad free to play model in my opinion. While it does give you access to nearly the entire game, you are constantly bombarded with ads. And by ads i don’t mean small banners or icons, you constantly have video ads thrown in your face that you cannot get rid of and are forced to watch before playing the game. after nearly every level and every time that you go to the main menu another one of these ads will appear. I would highly recommend just paying $0.99 for the full version of the app if you truly want to play a bridge construction game because the ads really take away from the overall experience

Bridge Constructor Free is currently sitting at version 3.2 and works on both phones and tablets. It does require that you own either an android device with android version 2.3 gingerbread or later or an ios device running ios 4.3 or later, giving it a very large pool of compatible devices.

Bridge Constructor Free does not have any in app purchases although the full version of Bridge Constructor does. These purchases are used for additional coins, permanently unlocking power-ups, and unlocking new level packs. For Coin Purchases there is a $0.99 option that will get you 20 coins, and a $1.99 option that will get you 60 coins. There is also a $1.99 option that will unlock the slopemania level pack which will unlock three new islands which feature new sloping bridges which you cannot create in the other levels. Lastly there is a $2.99 option that will unlock a free build mode where you can build whatever bridges that your mind can imagine, free from constraints.

Bridge Constructor Free Review

While I enjoyed the game play of Bridge Constructor Free quite a bit, I felt that the ads detracted from the overall experience in a large way. They really got in the way of the game play and I felt that this were probably the worst that I have ever seen ads in a game. Paying the dollar for the full version which is completely ad free is highly recommended if you actually want to play this game. Besides that though, I felt that the game was very intuitive with its controls and game play, and I liked how the developers managed to put a story behind why it was that you were building all these bridges which gave the game a sense of meaning which is something I like to have in games. The graphics were also very nice and detailed for a mobile game of relatively small download size. I especially liked how when you are testing your bridge the different parts of the bridge will change color based on how much stress is being placed on it (green for little to no stress, red for way too much stress, yellow or orange for smaller levels of stress) this really helped pinpoint the structural problems that may be causing the bridge to fail.

The levels are fun to play and can get quite challenging as you progress farther into the game. I enjoy playing games that make me use my mind a lot to problem solve and come up with new solutions and this game did just that. There was more than one occasion in my time playing the game where I would go through twenty different bridge designs only to have them all fail. Many mobile games are easy but this game is nothing close to that which I felt was a fresh change compared to other games.

Artwork: I give Bridge Constructor Free an 9/10 for its artwork. The menus and buttons are well designed and they have a nice construction theme to them. The in game graphics are also phenomenal and really make the game come to life.

Music and SFX: I give Bridge Constructor Free an 8/10 for its music and SFX. The music is nice and relaxing and I feel like it helps you focus more while trying to come up with ways to make working bridges on the more challenging levels. The sound effects were also nice and I felt that they added a pleasant bit of depth and realty to the game play.

Story and Originality: I give Bridge Constructor Free an 8/10 for its story and originality. The story behind why you were building all these bridges was something that I was glad that the developers incorporated into the game although i was glad that it wasn’t too drawn out or over complicated. Building bridges is a fairly original game idea so I have to give the developers props for coming up with it and turning it into a fun and successful game.

General Gameplay: I give Bridge Constructor Free a 6/10 for general gameplay. Building the bridges was a fairly smooth process most of the time although sometimes it would give me a hard time when I was trying to place down some of my bridge components. As I have stated before however, The intrusive ads really got in the way and tended to put an overall damper on the game and made my experience much worse than I would have hoped from such a popular game. If it did not have such bad ads however, this category would probably be at least an 8.

Addictiveness: I give Bridge Constructor Free a 7/10 for addictiveness. It is an entertaining game to play but once again, the ads are bringing the score down in this category. It is hard to get addicted to a game that has 30 second or longer video ads every few levels or so.

Overall, I give Bridge Constructor Free a 7/10
