Have you ever dreamed of being a princess? Having lots of pretty clothes available to choose from? Maybe being asked out to the ball by a prince? Coco Princess delivers just this experience for you!
Coco Princess is a game by Tabtale and is part of their Cocoplay series of games, of which’s main demographic are young girls. They have created Coco Princess, Coco Party, Coco Pony and a lot more of these type of games.
Coco Princess is rated 4/5 stars on the Google Play Store and also 4/5 stars on the Apple App Store, having millions of downloads and mostly postive reactions, with some complaints here and there. Let’s see what the game offers exactly and how it delivers!
Coco Princess doesn’t waste much time, but immediately starts you off exactly where you want to be: the dress up screen. One of the game’s main features is dressing up your Coco Princess as pretty as possible with various clothing items. You can choose from hairstyles, tiaras, tops, skirts, dresses, shoes, makeup and even skin colors.
Combining all the available options, you can create the princess in your own image or just make her look like you want to. If you feel content with her look, you have the option to set backgrounds behind her and take screenshots with a simple buttonpress. These backgrounds include places like cities, flowery fields, magical gardens, castles and ball rooms. You can even choose to add glittery, shiny effects to the screen.
If you feel satisfied with your screenshots and your princess’ look, then you can check out whether you have got any invitations to the ball by a prince. You can do this by checking the little menu on the bottom left of the screen. If there is an invitation, you can choose from two princes, William or George to go to the ball with.
At the ball your Coco Princess and the prince will start dancing, which you can look from different angles by changing the camera and even take screenshots if wanted. Once they are done, they will watch the fireworks on the balcony, until you quit out of this very child friendly experience.
The game allows microtransactions in the form of new clothing items, like Dresses for $7.99, Accessories for $4.99, Tops & Skirts & Shoes for $4.99, Ball Invitations for $7.99 or to Unlock All for $11.99.

Coco Princess is such a game where you honestly can’t use cheats in any way. The game’s promise is so simple that there is no difficulty or tricks present either. You just dress up your princess and watch a cutscene. There’s really nothing more to it.
If you or your children are into this game for some reason, then remember that ball invites are sent out every 24 hours, otherwise they can be bought for real money, which might not be worth the price.
There is also an opportunity to take screenshots with a simple button press inside the app, use this with the backgrounds function to make pretty looking shots.
I must start with the fact that Coco Princess is a very simple game. When I have first started it up during my playthrough, I could easily see it’s whole appeal in 5 minutes.
The first thing I could do was to dress up the princess, with various choices of clothing, although most of the better looking ones were locked. I didn’t feel like paying for extra clothes and honestly I think nobody should, it’s just not worth it. I could easily satisfy my needs of choosing her attire just by the basic ones. I also got the option to add backgrounds and glittery, shiny effects to take screenshots of her.
Once I was done with that, I noticed that I got a ball invitation in the bottom left of the screen. What this meant was that I could go to the ball with one of two princes. They only differ in what clothes they wear, otherwise nothing changes whether you choose one or the other.
Once I went to the ball a cutscene started, which showed my princess and the chosen prince dancing. There was literally no interaction in this on my part, other than the option to screenshot and to change camera positions between 2-3 possible ones. Once they finished dancing in around 30 seconds, they went to watch fireworks on the balcony, which honestly wasn’t too impressive.
After this was done, I could keep dressing my princess and wait 24 hours for another ball invite, but that’s all. There’s literally nothing more to this game. My conclusion was fast and simple: this is not a game that’s long lasting and it probably only appeals to young children, but even they will get bored of it after a while, since there isn’t much variety in the gameplay. So if your child is interested in it, then give it a go, but otherwise it’s not worth that much time spent on it.
Artwork: The artwork in Coco Princess gets a 7/10 rating from me. Characters in this game are doll-like and the environments are also a little over the top stylized, but it’s a good match to the simple gameplay and the demographic it’s meant for.
Music & SFX: The music gets a 6/10. The music in the menus and most of the game is the same music box song on repeat, while during the ball a classical piece is being played. Unfortunately the ball song is heard rarely, even while it’s much better than the music box song, which can honestly easily become annoying after a while on repeat. The SFX is very simple and only appear in the form of buttonpress and glittery sounds.
Story & Originality: I give the story of Coco Princess a 5/10. I don’t really find the story to be that appealing or unique. The princess has to dress up and go to the ball with a prince, so they can dance and watch the fireworks. It’s something little girls dream of, but not too original.
General Gameplay: The general gameplay deserves a 5/10. Honestly, this game is very limited in all aspects. You can’t access most clothing options without paying real money for it and even the list of things you can do is very short. You can dress up your princess and send her to the ball to watch a cutscene of dancing and fireworks, with no player interaction during either. There’s really not much depth to the gameplay and it can get repetitive fast.
Addictiveness: The addictiveness gets a 4/10 from me. There is really just not much point in coming back to this game after you’ve went to the ball for the first time. It always happens the same way, with the same cutscene, the only difference is how you dress up your princess before sending her to the dance. You also have to wait 24 hours for a ball invite, which is just unneccesarily long. I don’t see much of a lasting appeal in this game.
Overall Score: 5/10.
