Once you complete the tutorial you’ll be assigned a league, these randomly selected leagues can be 50/50, sometimes you’ll be in a league where hardly anyone plays and you’re essentially a one man army, other times leagues will be like your Deadwalk: The Last War family. A good league will come to your aid when your being attacked, help you construct your city, and support you in battle.

But before you can become a good league member you have to master the fundamentals. Make sure to pay attention to the tutorial and the locations of the menu items, as these can get very confusing if you don’t pick them up early on.

During early battles make use of your shield against weaker opponents, this will increase your xp and likelihood of surviving, but know that your shield is virtually useless against stronger opponents. Like I said earlier, Deadwalk: The Last War is a zombie game only in name, in reality is 90% a city v city (league vs league) game. Good league strategies will be the best cheats any guide can give you.

While developing your troops, pay attention to who is best equipped for which battle tactic and remember this cheat, light troops are good against strong and heavy troops, strong and heavy are good against medium troops, and medium troops trump smaller ones.

Avoid overextending your resources by returning to your base city after each battle. This way you can train your weaker soldiers for the next battle, and heal the recently injured. Also, this has the added advantage of allowing you to scout your enemy before battle. Knowing your enemy allows you to decide the best course of action, which class of warrior to send out, which champion to send the organization of ranks, whether you’ll need backup, etc.

While you’re resting at base, send out some troops to raid resource tiles so you can earn passive income without having to lift a finger. However, don’t get to comfortable with the auto battle feature. I understand it’s tempting to sit back and have the AI do everything but doing this relinquishes all control over the strategical aspects of battle.

The AI is programmed to battle a certain way, if you’re facing another human, the AI will have a really hard time picking up on the intricacies of human actions and intelligence.

Establish deep ties with your league members by helping them out when they ask for help, that way they’ll be more likely to return the favor when it’s your turn for help.

Store resources until they are needed, do not waste resources on unnecessary upgrades and perks, and keep your commodities until they are needed to develop cities or go into battle. However, if you are without a guild, or if you’re about to compete with an elite league, spend as much of your money as you can on fortifying your defenses and yourselves because if you lose its all getting looted anyway.

Now, here are some cheats to use in game for more coin

Explore all red exclamation points, these can be either zombies or treasure. If they are zombies then you get easy xp bonuses, if its treasure then congratulations, its free money.

Go on single player missions, even on old levels, to battle zombies and earn resources and various prizes.

Collect the secret bonuses, the gray box with the star on it on the home screen when utilized will give you random items varying from food to coin. The refresh rate for these random prizes and is proportionately related to the value of the prize.

Perhaps my favorite, and the least known cheat, is using talent points to increase marching speed. Doing so means battles are quicker, this you get done quicker, therefore you have more time to work on building your city. To do this tap on your champions profile picture and go to the talents tab.

Although 2 champions are recommended, 3 are ideal, to get more champions increase your leadership skill.

To get some free coins connect your account to your social media pages such as facebook, this will get you 100 free coins.

Check your inbox during often, especially during holidays, to cash in on free coins from the developers.

Upgrade barracks to train advanced warrior who you will need for very strong zombies at higher levels.

For players with a higher rating, bookmark the location of weaker cities so you can continuously raid them without having to peruse the map mindlessly.

Lastly, login daily to receive daily bonuses, eventually these will lead to monthly bonuses and the longer your sign-in streak the higher the reward.

Review

Overall Deadwalk: The Last War is very similar to many strategy games; you build, train, attack, and repeat. Regardless it was quite fun to play and very addictive, especially when you first start playing and you’re desperately trying to upgrade and make your city as strong as possible.

I really enjoyed the league system, there’s a strong sense of teamwork in the more developed leagues. Conversely, being in the wrong guild can spell disaster for what seems like eons.

Deadwalk: The Last War is definitely highly geared towards players who are willing to spend significant sums of cash on in game currency. This makes it very difficult for beginners to advance, high level players can virtually raid your city, destroy it, take your soldiers, and loot you at their discretion.

There needs to be more done to ensure a conducive environment for early players, one in which competition is limited to those of similar skillsets, not the state of nature environment currently on Deadwalk: The Last War.

Ratings

Artwork: I really liked the 80s comic book style illustrations and the pixelated graphics. It gave it a retro feel without the cliché of seeming like it was trying to be “retro”. Great character design 9.5.

Music/sound effects: Music was bothersome, often times it would simply stop working and freeze up the entire game 7.0.

Story/originality: Deadwalk: The Last War is unoriginal in every sense of the word. It merely copies popular styles and layers them like a wedding cake. 5.0.

General gameplay: Gameplay for Deadwalk: The Last War was engaging. Unlike most point shoot and repeat of most popular zombie themed games. Gameplay was immersive and the interface was easy to use and learn. 9.0.

Addictiveness: Deadwalk: The Last War is extremely addictive at first, until you encounter player much stronger who take your livelihood from you, over, and over, and over again. 9.5.
