If you are looking for unique puzzle/arcade games and you want to play a game which has game mechanics that you have probably never seen before on mobile platforms, then Smash Hit is just the game for you! In Smash Hit, you travel through space and time but there are obstacles in your way, which are made out of glass. You need to make sure you can travel safely by shooting metal balls and clearing your way. Smash Hit has been developed and successfully released by game developer Mediocre, and it has been a hit on the app stores so far. The game has been downloaded over a staggering number of fifty million times with a rating of 4.4 out of 5 on Google Play Store and a 4.5 out of 5 star rating on iOS App Store.
Smash Hit Review is a game which is very hard to describe. You find yourself in a surreal world, where you are traveling towards the horizon in a steady pace, but there are obstacles in your way. You cannot move left or right, speed up and slow down. You need to break these obstacles, which are made from glass, by using the metal balls which you have in your possession. You only have a limited amount of metal balls, but luckily you can get more by breaking crystals, which adds three to five metal balls to your total.
You will lose if you are out of metal balls, so you will need to be careful when you are shooting them away. You will also drop ten metal balls if you hit an obstacle, which means that you have to be really focused when you are playing Smash Hit. You could say that the goal in Smash Hit is for you to let your journey continue for as long as possible, without losing all your metal balls.
You can play Smash Hit by either logging in with your Google+ account or by playing without logging in at all. If you decide to log in with your Google+ account however, you will be able to access more features in the game. For example, you will be able to see the leaderboards to compare your score with scores of other players around the world. You will also be able to complete achievements in order to be able to get a higher score.
There are eight classes which your score depends on, which are as following; Best Distance, Longest Streak, Peak Ballcount, Hitrate, Average Streak, Average Ballcount, Balls Thrown and Objects Broken. Getting a high score in any of these classes will surely put you in the leaderboards and you can compete with your friends and other players around the world, to see who can get the highest score possible in Smash Hit.
There are four different game modes in which you can play Smash Hit. There is the Classic Mode, where the game play is original and the difficulty is normal. You will progress from checkpoint to checkpoint, every area becoming significantly more difficult than the one before it. The second game mode is called Zen Mode and in this game mode, you will take an endless meditational journey. Zen Mode features different types of music and special effects, making the journey feel more “Zen” if you will.
The third game mode is called Mayhem, and in this mode you will be challenged by Boss Stages next to having to destroy glass obstacles. This makes the Mayhem Mode extra difficult and it is only advised to play this mode if you are well known with the game. If you want to practice your game skills a bit, you can play in the Training Mode, which has a significantly lower difficulty compared to Classic Mode. Smash Hit is a free-to-play game, but to be able to access modes other than Classic Mode, you will have to purchase Smash Hit Premium in the in-game store.
Smash Hit In-game store
There is no in-game store in Smash Hit where you can purchase in-game currency, boosters or the like. There is only one item you can purchase with real money and that is the so called “Smash Hit Premium” account. Purchasing premium will unlock certain aspects about the game such as alternative game modes, restarting from checkpoints and checkpoints being saved in the Cloud so that you can play on a different device, but still keep your progress. If you would not purchase Smash Hit Premium, it would mean that every time you close down the game, you would have to start over from the beginning, no matter how far your progress was. Smash Hit Premium costs $1,99 and will remain attached to your account forever.
Smash Hit is one of the most entertaining puzzle games out there, but you need a lot of balls and premium in order to enjoy this game and get the items you need to progress. While you can get the balls and premium through the app store, this ends up costing real money, and most people cannot afford to keep making these purchases. If you are looking to get the premium and the balls for free, then you need to download our free Smash Hit hack tool.
If you look at the image below you will see how easy the hack tool is to use, with the options menu being where you enter the amounts of balls and premium that you want to add to your account.
First, you need to download our Smash Hit hack tool, which is found right here on the website, and this takes about 30 seconds. Then, you just select either iOS or Android depending on the device you are using. After that, input the amounts of balls you want to add to your account, and click to get premium.
When you are ready to begin, you can press “Start” to begin the hack tool, which takes less than 30 seconds to finish. Once that has finished, you will be able to open up the game on your device as normal, and you will see the items have already been placed into your account.
While it is very important that you destroy the obstacles which are in your way, what is more important is for you to break crystals so you will receive more metal balls. When you are out of metal balls, you will lose and you will have to start from the beginning. Breaking normal crystals will grant you an extra three metal balls, but pyramid crystals will give you five extra metal balls. If you are able to break ten crystals in a row, you will shoot two metal balls at a time. Break another ten crystals without missing, and you will shoot three metal balls at a time etc. Focus and accuracy are two very important things in Smash Hit, because it will allow you to break glass obstacles way easier than when you are shooting with a single metal ball at a time.
When you are playing Smash Hit for a while, you will occasionally notice green circles during your gameplay. Those green circles represent a booster called Infinite Balls and you can activate it whenever you need it. This will give you an infinite amount of balls for a short period of time. You should only use the Infinite Balls booster when you really need it because it can be very handy when you are in a jam and you are about to lose the level.
You should pay attention to certain moving obstacles and see if they are actually in your path. Sometimes, moving obstacles won’t actually hit you so there is no reason for you to waste any metal balls on them. If you are unsure about whether you are going to get hit or not, you should still shoot the obstacle, because it is not worth it to lose ten metal balls for nothing.
The title of this game made me think about another one of those generic hack-and-slash games, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that Smash Hit has nothing to do with hacking or slashing. I have seen similar games to this one before on other platforms, but that doesn’t mean that the developers didn’t do a good job by taking this game concept and turning it into a pretty damn good working and looking mobile game. In my opinion, Smash Hit has very unique graphics and soundtracks, making it a very interesting game to play for people who enjoy puzzle and arcade games. There are several game modes implemented into the game, enough for everyone’s likings. You can also compete with other players around the world by trying to get a high score on the leaderboards. I am a person who enjoys challenges in games, so this will simply make the game more entertaining for me.
Unfortunately, there are also a few negative aspects about Smash Hit. The first and far worst negative aspect about this game is the fact that the developers locked up the game pretty tightly, which means that you can only play the Classic Mode. While that on its own is not so bad, the fact that you need to start all over again when you close down your game and lose all your progress is just saddening to me. You might have reached different areas and set checkpoints there, but you won’t be able to use them before you purchase Smash Hit Premium.
To rub salt on the wound, you cannot even track your statistics, go on the leaderboards or see your achievements if you do not pay money to purchase the Premium version of the game. Yes, Smash Hit is a very unique and awesome mobile game, but locking all of its content behind bars is simply a no-go for me. The developers should think about players that can’t afford any money in order to enjoy a mobile game, they are just punishing them. In my opinion, this is one of the most negative aspects about free-to-play games. Developers might as well put a price tag right on the app stores, so that people will know that they won’t be able to play the game without paying money anyways.
Other than the aspects mentioned above, there are also occasionally pop-ups showing up with other games by the same developer. They ask you if you want to try out there new games, but these pop-ups are very annoying in my opinion. It is understandable that developers try to advertise their own games, but they should never use pop-ups to do this. Pop-ups are very obstructive and will really annoy and turn off players from the game. If players like the game developer, they will check out if they have more games out on the app stores anyways.
Artwork: I give Smash Hit a 9/10 for its artwork. Game developer Mediocre is well known for its mobile games with great visuals. Smash Hit is not an exception to this fact. The game has great graphics, way better than most of the mobile games I have played on mobile platforms. It is also very important that the graphics fit the overall theme of the game, which is pretty mystical in my opinion. There are many visual effects and special effects happing on the screen, which all look very nice. For example, when you shoot metal balls at glass obstacles, they will break as if the glass was real. The developer should be praised for the amount of time that they spend on designing the graphics and animations in Smash Hit.
Music & SFX: I give Smash Hit an 8/10 for its music and SFX. Smash Hit features several different soundtracks. The soundtrack changes, depending in what area you currently are. This makes the game more entertaining to play because of the fact that the players will not easily get bored or bothered by listening to the same soundtrack over and over again. Smash Hit also has a lot of sound effects, but the most important SFX is probably the glass shattering. You will destroy a lot of glass obstacles during your gameplay, and the glass shattering SFX is very realistic and therapeutic in my opinion. Both the soundtracks and SFX are easy on the ears as well.
Story & Originality: I give Smash Hit an 8/10 for its story and originality. I have seen similar games in the past, be it browser based or on handhelds, but that doesn’t take away that the developers did a great job with Smash Hit. They have implemented the artwork and music perfectly, and made them fit so well together, that the gameplay feels very unique. This makes the game very original for me. The fact that there is no story behind the gameplay does not bother me at all, and I am sure that it doesn’t bother other players either.
General Gameplay: I give Smash Hit an 8/10 for general gameplay. At the beginning of the gameplay, there is a small tutorial, showing you what your goals are and how you need to accomplish them. You will also learn how to shoot metal balls, how to break obstacles and how to progress in the game. The tutorial is very short, after which you are on your own. The gameplay is actually pretty straightforward, but because there are many different areas and obstacles, it remains challenging and entertaining to play. It is very nice to see that the developers spend a lot of time to make the user interface as clear and simple as possible. The controls are very responsive and smooth, allowing you to easily aim and fire the metal balls.
Addictiveness: I give Smash Hit a 7/10 for addictiveness. I always like it when developers do not implement any kind of game time limitations into their games. This is also the fact with Smash Hit. You do not have energy bars or lives, which means that players can start playing the game whenever they want and play however long they want. The only large downside in Smash Hit is the fact that a lot of the games’ features are locked up behind Premium. This means that you will need to spend a couple of dollars to unlock the full game. While this might not seem a lot, especially for a unique game such as Smash Hit, not everyone can afford to spend money on mobile games. Without unlocking the full game, I cannot rate the addictiveness higher.
All things considered, I give Smash Hit an 8/10.
