If you lose a battle, your tanks will be damaged, which means that you either need to wait for them to be repaired, spend in-game cash to repair them instantly or you can replace a damaged tank with a new one. When I first downloaded Super Battle Tactics, I had no idea about what the game would be. The logo of the game made me believe that the game would be a battle between tanks, and I was right. In Super Battle Tactics, you need to form a team of killer tanks and battle you way through to the top. The first thing I really liked about the game was the fact that the graphics and soundtracks are very nice, especially for a mobile game. They also seem to fit the overall killer theme of the game pretty well. The user interface is very clear and designed to fit the gameplay and the controls are responsive.
It is nice to see that there was a tutorial at the beginning of the gameplay, because I could imagine casual mobile gamers getting confused with all the features that are implemented into Super Battle Tactics. Another positive aspect about Super Battle Tactics is the fact that there are no advertisements in the game. This means that you will not be obstructed or annoyed by silly pop-ups or banners.
Unfortunately, there are also several negative aspects about Super Battle Tactics. For starters, I really dislike the fact that the developers have implemented a ticket system, which allows you to play five times in total, before you have to wait two and a half hour before your tickets are all replenished. It is as if the developers try to play on people’s patience, and see if they like the game enough to spend premium currency on it, to be able to play again. Of course, there are ways to replenish your tickets instantly.
For example, you can spend several premium gems to replenish your tickets without having to wait at all. You can also increase the maximum amount of tickets that you can own, but in order to do that, you will need to spend real money on the game. This makes Super Battle Tactics feel like a cash grab and is simply bad news for the developers. In my opinion, a game should never have a limitation on the play time because this really turns me off from the game, and I bet many other players as well.
The second negative aspect I would like to mention is the fact that the game gets really difficult when you have played it for a while. This is because your opponent’s tanks are far superior to yours, and unless you have spent a lot of cash to upgrade your own tanks, you will have no chance at all. This means that you have to spend real money on Super Battle Tactics, if you want to progress through the game. There is no way to go back to easier battles and grind for more in-game cash, which means that you will have to purchase premium gems.
In my opinion, it is not a problem when free-to-play games have in-game stores where you can purchase items and power-ups. The problem in Super Battle Tactics is the fact that loyal players are getting punished, because they cannot earn or grind for more in-game cash. The developers should know that not everyone want, or can afford to spend money on a free-to-play game.
Artwork: I give Super Battle Tactics an 8/10 for its artwork. In my opinion, Super Battle Tactics has very nice graphics, which I really enjoyed while playing the game. The graphics remind me of some cartoons that I used to watch in the past, such as Gundam Wing. I like the fact that the developers have decided to design the graphics in a cartoonish way instead of 3D or something because cartoon styled games are very popular at the moment. There are many animations and special effects in the game, which are of high quality. Effects such as explosions and different kinds of gun fire are very nice and really help to make the game feel more alive. In my opinion, the developers did a good job fitting the graphics together with the animations.
Music & SFX: I give Super Battle Tactics an 8/10 for its music and SFX. There are several different soundtracks in Super Battle Tactics, which are really nice and you can tell by just listening that the developers spend a lot of time designing them. There are also many sound effects in the game, which really add a nice touch to the game. SFX such as the explosions and tanks getting destroyed are very nicely designed, almost realistic in my opinion. The soundtracks and sound effects are easy on the ears and will not bother the players while they are playing.
Story & Originality: I give Super Battle Tactics an 8/10 for its story and originality. Over the years, I have played many mobile games and there are a few that are similar to Super Battle Tactics, but I still feel like this game is more original than the others. This is due to the fact that the developers have implemented a lot of features, which I have not seen in other games. You can upgrade your tanks and build better tanks by using different kinds of materials. You can even use abilities, which will give you an advantage during your gameplay. At the beginning of the game, there is a tutorial which also includes the story behind the game.
General Gameplay: I give Super Battle Tactics an 8/10 for general gameplay. The gameplay in Super Battle Tactics starts with a small tutorial, in which the battle announcer teaches you how to properly play the game. You will learn how to attack enemy tanks, how to build new tanks and how to assemble tank groups. After the tutorial ends, the gameplay becomes pretty straightforward but still very entertaining to play because of all the different kinds of tanks that you need to destroy. The battles become significantly more difficult after you have played for a while, but if you like a challenge, than this won’t bother you at all. It is nice to see that the user interface is designed so well and you can find everything easily. It will take a battle or two to get used to the controls of the game, but they are not overly difficult after that.
Addictiveness: I give Super Battle Tactics a 5/10 for addictiveness. I really dislike the fact that the developers have decided to implement limitations to players’ play time. You have a certain amount of tickets and once you run out of them, you won’t be able to play anymore. You need to wait a staggering thirty minutes for one of your tickets to be replenished, which is a very long time in my opinion. Of course, you can spend gems to replenish your tickets instantly, but gems cost a lot of money to purchase. Super Battle Tactics could have been very addictive for me, but unfortunately the play time limitations ruined the gameplay for me.
All things considered, I give Super Battle Tactics a 7/10.
