Review

Paplinko is a great game to play while you’re in between tasks, if you don’t have the time for in depth RPGs Paplinko is the game for you. Also, it’s not easy finding a game that I like and one that I can let my younger cousins and family members play.

I believe this is largely due to the two game styles available. There’s the side of the game that’s easily perceptible, the fun side where you’re merely dropping balls in buckets. And there’s also a strategic side to Paplinko, one in which you’re utilizing special bonuses, prizes, and the treasure chest strategically to get the most points an achievements.

The fact that Paplinko offered premium currency did not detract from my experience and I did not feel as though not buying premium content was hindering my progress significantly. Nevertheless, if you want to reach the upper echelons of the achievement ranks, you will need to purchase premium content.

However, there are some issues worth noting. The slime, or jelly, was far too powerful of a deterrent, without the shield my points were being cut so much as to make the whole session seem futile. Also puzzle take far too long to complete unless you buy PB, an advertisements occasionally led to glitches in the game.

Artwork : 8.5/10
Artwork was well polished, expressive, and had a 3-dimensional look too it. The creativity of the designers is evident when viewing the animated backgrounds, custom notification icons, cute furry characters, etc. Aesthetics are clearly a large part of Paplinko , which explains why upgrading and customizing the look and feel of Paplinko is one of the most valued in-game prizes. Very bright, colorful, cute, and cheery.

Music and Sound effects : 6.0/10
The introduction music was good but the rest Paplinko was clearly deficient in engaging me sonically, without good music there’s no sense of action or adventure and after a while it just feels like you’re just dropping balls into a bucket.

Story/Originality : 5.5
Paplinko does market itself as a mix between two other games, Peggle and Plinko, so it automatically loses points in the story and originality category. Also it’s clearly a remix of the classic pinball game, however, the introduction of many of the special characters, the slime, and the puzzles, made it unique in some respects.

Gameplay : 8.0
Gameplay was interactive, the two strategy styles were great for keeping me interested in what would otherwise be a children’s game.

Addictiveness : 7.0
If you can get your Facebook friends into Paplinko, or co-workers, family members, etc. things can get very competitive, and subsequently the Paplinko becomes very addictive. Once a majority of the upgrades and customizations are unlocked Paplinko gets quite monotonous.
