With breathtakingly dangerous mission and powerful aircraft for you to crew, you’ll never tire of this amazing simulator, and the sheer amount of content will keep you entertained for days to come. In short, Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D will take you to new heights of mobile gaming that you’d never have thought possible. You won’t find any other combat-themed flight simulator that can perform as well as Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D, and did I mention that it’s free? Why not download this app today and give it a shot? I’m sure you’re going to love every second of action-packed mayhem that Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D promises to deliver. This game is also available on the App Store.

As a new pilot, your first assignments will be simple. Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D will take you through a short tutorial to teach you the skills vital to your survival. The controls are simple: tilt your device to change the direction in which your aircraft is facing, press the forwards and backwards button to control your thrust, and you will also have several virtual buttons that fire individual weapons in your aerial arsenal. You have the option to change your control scheme to a virtual joystick scheme in the settings, which may be a good idea if you have a heavy device, but I personally find that the default “tilt to turn” control scheme works just fine.

After you finish the tutorial, the Chinook gunship (a heavily-armed helicopter) will be available for you to use, but only for a limited number of missions; you will also be able to access the Workshop and Store in case you want to spend your newly-earned cash and gold. The Workshop is where you go to equip your aircraft with weapons or upgrades, and the Store is where you go to purchase new aircraft with either Cash or Gold (Cash is the term we will use for in-game currency). With every mission you complete, you will gain cash or gold, and you will be able to spend your currencies in the Store and Workshop. You can also use Cash to purchase new “Episodes”, which is something we will discuss in just a moment. Both Cash and Gold can be purchased via IAP (In-App Purchases), but you will find yourself gaining plenty of cash to keep you afloat; Gold will be the most difficult currency to gain.

Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D has two main modes you can play: Episodes and Special Missions. Episodes are best described as the “story missions”; each episode is based on a certain geographic region and contains several story missions (with the occasional “boss mission”). You will find yourself destroying bunkers, disrupting enemy movements, sinking ships or submarines, and even engaging in some of the deadliest dogfights! Starting from the second episode, each subsequent episode will require a large amount of cash to unlock. I haven’t ever had to rely on IAP to get enough cash to unlock an episode, but you can most definitely fall short if you spend most of your cash on upgrades and aircraft before unlocking the next episode. The Special Missions have two categories: Custom Mission and Raid Mission. The Custom Mission menu will bring up a list of various odd jobs for you to do, organized in a descending order of difficulty. Some tasks you may encounter in your Custom Missions may include destroying tanks, wiping out anti-aircraft defenses, and defeating mega-aircraft bosses. Half of the Custom Missions are available for you to play for free, with the reward being cash, but the other half of the Custom Missions require a cash entry fee, and those missions reward you in Gold. The Raid Mission is a global event that all players can access for a fee of $10,000 in-game cash. The main premise of the Raid mission is to defeat a series of amazingly difficult bosses without dying. The more damage you cause, the more points you earn. You are only able to have 3 attempts (your chances eventually “recharge” after using them), so make sure to not waste your opportunity to shine.

As I mentioned earlier, you will have access to new gear via the Store and the Workshop. The store sells powerful gunships for Cash or Gold, and the Workshop is where you can go to equip your aircraft with various weapons and upgrades. For example, one of my favorite setups is the Ninja, equipped with a Mast Radar (increases the range of my radar and missiles), 2x Sidewinder guided missiles, 3x 20mm guns, and 2 sets of Roc-Logir Fire rockets. I purchased a “normal parts” box from the upgrade menu, which gave me a Class C 1% defence boost. If I buy 2 more parts, I can fuse all 3 to create a more powerful part (with a chance of creating a rare part). Fusing parts is a great way to get powerful equipment without putting a strain on your Gold supply. I realize that all of this may seem complicated at first, but you will soon have a solid grasp of how to upgrade your aircraft if you spend some time tinkering in your workshop.

On a final note, you may also notice a small golden box on the left side of the screen while you’re on the main menu; this is the Package menu. You can buy several different packages that will contain powers such as Harrier/B2 Stealth Bomber strikes, ammo refills, and protective shields. These packages are great if you’re interested in buying powers in bulk, but don’t want to spend too much gold.

Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D Tips and Cheats

Float Like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee– Your enemies in Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D tend to have this nasty habit of constantly launching heat-seeking missiles at you. Sucks, doesn’t it? Well, luckily we have some tricks figured out to counter our trigger-happy opponents. If you swipe across the screen while in flight, your aircraft will suddenly swing in the direction you swipe, which serves as an incredibly useful function for dodging incoming fire. This maneuver alone is good enough if you’re facing one or two opponents, but you’re going to have to get a bit trickier if you want to go Full-Rambo and take on a horde of tanks and missile defence systems. I’ve noticed that missiles have a very difficult time tracking you if you take on a vertical corkscrew flight pattern; more simply put, fly straight up or down while thrusting all the way to the left or right. While you can’t hold this flight pattern indefinitely (nor would it be useful to you if you could), this maneuver is great for when you need to wait for your heavy weapons to reload, but you’re surrounded by enemies. Keep this trick in mind and Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D will become so easy that it seems like you’re using Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D cheats!

Use Freebies Wisely– As I mentioned earlier, you will be given a powerful Chinook gunship for a limited amount of uses. Instead of blowing it on otherwise easy missions, why not use it to try and complete the Raid Mission? You will be guaranteed a higher placement if you use the Chinook in the Raid, and you might be more likely to win Gold in the more difficult Custom Missions. Either way you choose to use your Chinook, make sure you aren’t wasting it.

Removing Ads– Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D definitely uses a LOT of video advertisements between each mission, or at least enough of them to make them obnoxious and annoying. To get rid of ads in Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D, simply buy any amount of gold via IAP, and the ads will disappear. This way, you kill two birds with one stone: you receive Gold and you get rid of ads… This is almost better than using Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D hacks!

Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D Review

I’ve been quite impressed with Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D, and I really enjoy the large quantity of content provided within the app for free. The missions provide reasonably sizeable rewards, and completing missions is highly satisfying, unlike some of the other combat flight simulators; the concept of using in-game currencies to unlock the next “episode” of Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D only adds to this feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction. I appreciate the fact that we can swap out weapons and equipment on our aircraft (which is a rare feature on free-to-play simulators), and the wide variety of aircraft is completely unheard of outside of Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D, even among its pay-to-play cousins. I find that the missions are different enough to capture my attention, but they aren’t so different from each other that I have to radically shift my play tactics or create a special loadout for each individual level (which would be a massive pain in the butt). In summary, I really like the pick-up-and-play aspect of Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D, and I find it very pleasing that the devs provided such a large amount of content for a free game.

There are some notable downsides to Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D, however. Enemies are often visible on your radar far in advance, and the render distance for the scenery is quite exceptional, but for some reason the render distance for visually spotting your enemies is severely lacking. For example, I might see a hill in front of me, and my radar shows that enemies are somewhere in that area, but I won’t be able to see them until I’m within the range of their weapons! This really makes for an annoying bug (or is it a feature?) that can add some frustration when I’m trying to hunt down targets, since I have to shift my flight path at the last possible moment due to the fact that I don’t know exactly where my opponents are. A second annoying feature is the tendency for enemy ground troops to “rise from the dead”, so to speak. I can wipe out an entire squad of enemy infantry, but they’ll reappear in less than 10 seconds in some cases. I really dislike the “zombie troops”, but if you look at the big picture, it doesn’t really make that big of an impact on my gaming session since the enemy infantry doesn’t really inflict much damage on your aircraft.

Ratings

Artwork The artwork in Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D is fairly average; it’s nothing to get excited about, but I think this was done on purpose to keep the device lag to a minimum. Overall, the artwork is realistic enough to be fun, but it’s not an HD game by any means. The detail work put into each aircraft in the store definitely bumps the Artwork rating up a notch, however. Artwork receives a rating of 6/10

Music/SFX The soundtrack that loops on the main menu becomes quite obnoxious over time, although the sound quality is decent. The SFX add a hint of realism to the game, but after a while they start to seem “boring” for some reason. The constant “WOOSH” of heat-seeking missiles flying past me tends to get old fast, especially on the Raid Mission.

Music/SFX receives a rating of 6/10

Story/Originality Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D does a really good job of giving you a sense of purpose while you’re completing your missions. From escorting soldiers to protecting your naval fleet, you will always be a part of something bigger.

Story/Originality receives a rating of 9/10

General Gameplay Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D is a very fun app to pick up and play, although I don’t recommend playing it for long periods of time; it’s very easy to become frustrated with this game if you repeatedly lose a level, and then your whole mental game will be out of whack. This usually leads to a nasty mental spiral of game-rage, although this could just be me. I have spent a lot of time getting X-rays done recently… How did the Hulk get his powers again? Hmm.

General Gameplay receives a rating of 7.5/10

Addictiveness Even though I mentioned that I don’t like playing for long periods of time, I also don’t like leaving the game for too long either. Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D is most definitely addictive, and I know that I’m going to recommend this game to my friends.

Addictiveness receives a rating of 9/10.

I think Gunship Battle: Helicopter 3D deserves an overall rating of 7/10.
