I would recommend all players to get a smaller device like a phone in order to play Nyan Cat: Lost In Space instead of something big like an iPad.  This is important because you need to be able to see the whole screen and look at what is ahead.  If you are playing on a big screen like an iPad, you will have to look at one part of the screen and then at the other part of the screen so you will be more blind-sided to the projectiles that are coming up ahead.  If you want to avoid all of this and make sure that you have the best possible chance of winning, then you should be using a smaller device.  I probably wouldn’t be using an iPad as well because it is harder to click across and make sure that you are able to look at the entire screen to see what is up ahead.  You won’t be able to kill the dogs using your own projectiles, so you will have to rely on your own dodging skills in order to try and get past the dogs.  If you don’t, you will be stuck trying to get past the dogs.  For these aforementioned reasons, I highly recommend that you use a smaller device in order to play, however, if you are playing friends, there is nothing wrong with playing with a larger device so that more people can play at one time.  For example, you can have one person holding the device while you are jumping.  

Nyan Cat: Lost In Space Review

The game does use the Nyan Cat to make sure that the game is enticing to play for a more players who like Nyan Cat but honestly, I don’t see why anyone would actually like Nyan Cat, but who am I to talk about something that got really popular.  The game is super cute with the Nyan Cat, but it does make the official game sound the Nyan Cat song, so it is pretty nostalgic if you were a big listener back in the day, but eventually it gets extremely annoying and you don’t really want to play it any longer because it gets very frustrating and tiring to listen to.  So overall, you can really just mute that and listen to your own music during the game.

I think that an aspect of dueling your friends would be really fun with the Nyan Cat because I think it would be pretty easy to implement considering that a ton of other games already have it implemented and also a good idea because it would draw more feeling of competition which would drive more people to play the game and get into the game.  It would make them super excited to start trying harder.  For one, it would also add some really good aspects when it comes to uniqueness because a ton of other games that are similar to this game don’t have any kind of competition which eventually makes the game boring.  I do think that this is the next step for apps because it is what makes computer games really popular right now.  Right now, computer games are implementing a ranked system where players try and get higher on the ladder in order to see where they rank against other players.

The in-app purchases really only give you more customizables such as clothes are other things like the “Halloween Set” which basically gets you all the clothes during the event for a certain price.  There are a ton of these sets that basically just make your Nyan Cat a bit more interesting to play every single run that you do, so instead of having new characters that you can buy, you really are just buying different clothes for the same character.

I would rate Nyan Cat: Lost In Space a 7/10.  The artwork of the game is good, but it is taken off of the internet sensation, so I don’t really know what the perks of the producers making the artwork any better.  If the producers made the artwork a bit more original, I’d give it a higher rating, but because they do use the Nyan Cat as their main character, it will only earn a 7.

Music and SFX

I would rate Nyan Cat: Lost In Space a 6/10.  The music that they give you is the Nyan Cat original music so it just constantly repeats over and over again which is really annoying and really not something that you want to listen to over and over again.  If they could really just add a bit of variety, that would be more pleasant, but other than that, the music is really good for the game that it is.

Story and Originality

I would rate Nyan Cat: Lost In Space a 2/10.  Just like any other game that is similar to Nyan Cat: Lost in Space, there is no real story in this game, but there is a goal.  The goal of Nyan Cat: Lost in Space is to earn the most possible points for the highest score and then try and get the clothes that you want your own Nyan Cat to wear.  Other than that, there is no goal and thus there is no storyline to follow during your time playing Nyan Cat: Lost in Space.  For the originality aspect, it is taking Nyan Cat and just putting it in another game, so I can’t say that it is original and I won’t be able to say that it is entirely Nyan Cat.

General Gameplay

I would rate Nyan Cat: Lost In Space a 6/10.  I think that the overall gameplay is pretty good with the food as things that you need to collect along with the coins.  The customization of the character instead of buying different characters is also a good aspect of the game.  I also think that the jumping and dropping aspect of the game is a bit simple.  Adding a tap control would be ideal.

Addictiveness

I would rate Nyan Cat: Lost In Space a 6/10. The music really makes it not addicting and is basically a turn off for me.  It makes the game tiring to play every single time that you want to play it because you have to mute the music unless you want to face another 20 minutes to an hour listening to the same tune over and over again.

Overall Rating

Overall, I would rate Nyan Cat: Lost in Space a 5/10 because while the artwork is very strong, I don’t think that the game is up to par when it comes to the amount of originality and storyline, but the music is good.
