I’ve always adored simulators, so Joy Virtual Pet Game is right up my alley. Because of the in-game store and the levelling up system, it isn’t an app that you can get bored of quickly. It looks really stylish and modern, and the controls are extremely user friendly. This means that it’s playable by people of various ages, and if you’re a parent, I strongly recommend telling your kids about it (given they’re six or older). In my opinion, the best and most unique element of the app lies in it’s mini-games.
There are eight in total, and they’re all extremely fun and responsive and they could definitely stand alone if they were available separately. I’ve spent a fair amount of time trying to master each one. The in-game shop provides the player with a constant goal, because everybody wants to make their pet as cute as they can be, but the accessories and apparel are pretty affordable! I respect that the game starts you off with a generous amount of money, that way you can personalise your pet immediately. The long term goal is saving up enough gold so you can afford extra rooms and furniture, but that means that you’ll have every reason to keep playing. All in all, Joy Virtual Pet Game is a really easy app to start playing, but a harder one to let go of. Though it can get a little tiring to have to constantly check on your pet’s wellbeing, his or her needs don’t worsen too quickly, so don’t think that you’ll have to get up in the middle of the night!

Artwork: The game is very cartoonish, vibrant and fun! The animation for your pet (and your pet’s pet) is incredibly adorable. The artwork for the mini-games specifically is very polished, especially in comparison to similar apps. Overall, the graphics are really hard to fault, and I’d give Joy Virtual Pet Game a 10/10 for it’s artwork.
Music and SFX: The sound effects are really fun and creative, especially the cute little noises that your alien makes when you interact with him or her. Every mini-game has it’s own unique song, and they’re all very energetic and catchy, they’ll really motivate you to beat your best score. Personally, I’d like your pets noises to have more versatility. All in all, I give Joy Virtual Pet Game an 8/10 for it’s music and sound effects.
Story and Originality: Joy Virtual Pet Game doesn’t exactly have a story, but your blooming relationship with your pet will flourish quickly and you’ll soon be creating an incredibly in-depth back-story for him or her. Further, it’s not entirely original, as it is similar to various other pet simulators. However, the element of earning gold by playing mini-games is fairly unique for its genre. Because of this, I give Joy Virtual Pet Game a 5/10 for it’s story and originality.
General Gameplay: Personally, I really enjoy the simplistic nature of the gameplay. Caring for your pet is incredibly easy, but it’s also quite relaxing. Both the mini-games and the decorating elements of the game give it a lot of versatility. Overall, Joy Virtual Pet Game deserves an 8/10 for it’s gameplay.
Addictiveness: I have to give Joy Virtual Pet Game a 9/10 for it’s addictiveness, I spend a dangerous amount of time caring for my pet and buying him all sorts of things. Because your pet need constant attention, it’s hard to put down!
