Angel Stone is a Role Playing game developed by Fincon, a company known for only one other game called HELLO HERO. Angel Stone is available on both Android and Apple and it has been downloaded for more than 1 million times. The game has an average rating of 3.8 out of 5 on Google Play and 4 stars from a maximum of 5 (but less than 50 ratings) on Apple’s App Store. Being relatively new, the game has some pretty high hardware requirements – the Android users need to have a version of at least 4.0.0 and Apple users are required to have iOS 7.0 or later.
In Angel Stone you take the role of a hero that belongs to the Resistance which is a group that tries to save the world from destruction. The game is cross-platform, has a solid campaign mode and an interesting co-op implementation. Angel Stone has a lot of hack and slash elements so it’s more similar to an Action dungeon crawler title than a truly RPG game.

One of the most interesting things I encountered in Angel Stone is the fact that I can choose my starting hero at first and that each one represents a different class – warrior, gunslinger, mage. I really appreciate when mobile games start to look more and more similar to PC games. In addition to this, I like the fact that the game has a really interesting crafting system – you get iron ore and you use it to create better equipment. I believe that it is a good idea to be able to do so even though at some point it gets a pretty repetitive job. I also like the fact that you can choose graphic options that are suited for your device – this way the developers ensure that a greater number of players are able to play the game. Another good thing about Angel Stone is the real live co-op implementation that it has to offer – a game is always better when you have someone to play with.
There are some things I don’t really like about Angel Stone as well. First of all, I believe that the game is not suited for casual players. It is user friendly, that’s true, but I think that you need to know a thing or two about RPGs in general to be able to play Angel Stone. Secondly, I am not a fan of the “choose your own path” for missions – it makes the game interesting but sometimes I just want to hack and slash enemies and think less. In the end, I think that Angel Stone currently lacks some sort of trading possibility. It may seem odd but being a cross-platform game I would have expected to be able to trade with people. Maybe this way grinding equipment will be more rewarding than dismantling all I get into ore and craft something else.
Overall, Angel Stone is a game I would definitely recommend. Even if you don’t like (or know much about) dungeon crawlers full of hack and slash and RPG elements, you may still like this title.

Artwork: Angel Stone gets a rating of 9 out of 10 for its artwork. To be honest, the game is one of the greatest looking titles I’ve ever seen for mobile devices. The requirements for it are very high, that’s true but it is worth it. The characters are looking pretty amazing and if you use Full HD, 60 FPS and High Visuals they look almost realistic. The environment is very interesting and it’s designed well but it’s a bit too static for my taste. The animations effects are really good and they look how they are supposed to do – eye-catching and modern.
Music & SFX: I give the game a rating of 8 out of 10 for this section. Naturally, having such pretty visual graphics, one would expect to hear outstanding music and sound effects. The music & SFX of Angel Stone are not that great but they are good enough to be considered “worthy”. The soundtrack suits the game’s theme and there are enough songs to keep you entertained. The variety pool of the sound effects is not as big as I hoped. The noises are pretty repetitive and if you play the game for a long time you will eventually be a bit annoyed by them but they are above average anyway so no worries.
Story/Originality: Angel Stone gets a rating of 8 out of 10 at this section. There are almost hundreds of games with a story that is similar to the one this game has but that’s understandable – you can’t make an entirely authentic story for an RPG, some of the elements will always be common. Ignoring this fact, I can say that the story from Angel Stone is interesting and it has the potential to intrigue the player. The game has more than enough original elements so you can easily distinguish it from other similar games. I really like the idea of the Angel Stones which are basically powers that are left to the Earth by angels and the character use them as weapons against the evil forces – pretty original if you ask me.
General Gameplay: The game gets a rating of 9 out of 10 for its gameplay. Being an RPG-oriented game, you will most likely expect an overwhelming game full of vague tutorials and complicated mechanics. In Angel Stone, this is partially true. You get a real thorough tutorial that helps you get going with anything you need and after you learn the ropes you realize the fact that Angel Stone is not the hardest game you will ever play. The elements of crafting, the equipment choice and the use of skills are all notions that with a little research will be fully mastered by anyone. For the time I’ve played the game, I haven’t encountered any bugs, freezes or crashes.
Addictiveness: Angel Stone gets a rating of 9 out of 10 for its addictiveness. So, we have almost flawless artwork, music, gameplay and a more than interesting story – obviously, the game is really addictive, what did you expect? The campaign is short enough not to bore the player but long enough to keep him entertained, the game is full of all kind of rewards, there is a decent amount of replay possibility included in it and so on. The only problem I can think of is the fact that Angel Stone is after all a game developed for a specific niche so if you are not a fan of this kind of games you may not like it as much as you would expect.
Overall, Angel Stone gets a rating of 8.6 out of 10. The game has the potential to reach the tops for its genre and if the developers continue with updates it can stay there for a long time. Currently, one of the best hack and slash on the market.
