Afterpulse is quite complex in its controls so it will take some getting used to, that is why it is of utmost importance to complete the tutorial and to pay close attention throughout. Also, by going through the training mode you gain money.

The most exhilarating, and perhaps the most defined aspect of Afterpulse is the multiplayer mode. In multiplayer you have to game modes: team death match and free for all. As the names imply in team death match you are grouped with other online players into two separate teams fighting against one another. In free for all its every man for themselves.

You can’t begin multiplayer mode until you’ve at least attained level 7. Not only does this level the playing field of multiplayer mode but it also allows you to hone your skills before facing up against players who may be significantly more skilled from yourself at the outset. Also, players not dedicated to Afterpulse will likely not even make it far enough to multiplayer mode, thus weeding out people who may abuse the multiplayer system since they have essentially nothing to lose by doing so. Also, multiplayer mode earns you more xp than other game modes and there you can earn prestige quickly.

One of the great features in Afterpulse is that these developers have made it easier to find online games and to minimize any possible glitches by utilizing an enhanced online matchmaking system that is supported by dedicated zone server technologies. This will ensure a premium connection and limited interruptions in gameplay. I played Afterpulse exclusively on my Wi-Fi network for multiplayer mode as mobile connections are notoriously unreliable while moving.

Here are a couple of combat tactics and cheats to help you win more games and get more money. If you’re familiar with RPG games and especially military genre FPS’s, this will serve as a reminder of things you already know. Because Afterpulse is based on a console game a lot of console strategies will translate here as well.

First off, make sure to always stay in movement. It’s much harder to hit a target that’s moving as opposed to a lifeless dummy. Even in sniper mode your position can be easily assessed by seasoned players so make sure to stay mobile as often as possible. Make sure to avoid open areas as much as possible and stick to the walls as much as you can. To do this you will first have to learn the maps inside and out, once you learn the maps gameplay will be considerably easier. My trick to learn the maps quickly is to play in the same map over and over until I can practically see it in my head, once I’ve learned a map I move on to the next one.

To earn some extra money always go into the mission board and check the requirements, there are often several objectives outside of the mission specific objectives that can earn you extra money. Also, Gamevil runs promotions from time to time, pay attention to these as they can get you free money simply by participating in the promotion. Afterpulse Review

I found Afterpulse to live up to much of the hype that surrounded it, although there were some minute details that did take away from the experience to a certain degree. For starters, the controls were quite smooth and responsive. Needless to say I found the graphics to be very much reminiscent of console games, a huge step forward for mobile gaming. The lighting was very accurate and the shadows rendered correctly as well.

One of my favorite aspects of Afterpulse were the rich customization options, being able to tweak the appearance to my liking is one of my favorite perks of console gaming and I’m ecstatic to see mobile games deliver on personalization.  Gameplay was exhilarating and continuous, there were few moments of idleness.

Generally speaking this is a great game, the issue points I will now describe in no way detract from that statement but they are important to address if the developers want to take their game to the next level. For starters, some of the maps were a tad on the small side, these would’ve been adequate for a 1v1 game but for a 4 v 4 or even an 8 v 8, they were far too constricting.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, it is a freemium game. I would much rather have a game that I would pay one fee for up front, and to enjoy that game forever, than to have to potentially pay hundreds of dollars just to progress at a reasonable pace. This is not to say that one cannot fully enjoy Afterpulse as a free game, but you will be considerably hampered. Hopefully they can resolve these issues as I am certainly looking forward to any new releases from Gamevil.
