Dofus is a browser multiplayer role-playing game developed by Ankama Games, a company known for other games such as Fly’N or Islands of Wakfu. Dofus is their first title, a version of the actual game being published around 2005. The game is pretty popular among gamers having more than several millions players in 2016 (not active though) which come from all corners of the world. There is a client-version of Dofus for those of you who wish to install the game and play it as a standalone but the most popular choice is playing directly into the browser (a Flash client is required).
In Dofus you take the role of a character which belongs to “The World of Twelve”, a world where no less than 12 different gods rule. You will face a lot of challenges during your adventures, you will most likely join a guild, start one or more professions and fight for survival. It is worth mentioning that while the action takes place in real time, the combat system is turned-based (players take turns while attacking).
The game requires an account in order to be played. You can easily sign-up right on their website and you don’t need to confirm your e-mail or anything like that. Having an account just for Dofus is a great thing because you will be able to play from any computer or any device that supports flash. You will also don’t lose any progress.
Dofus is a browser game with a few microtransactions up to its sleeve so to speak. There is a premium currency called Ogrines and which can be bought with real money. You can use Ogrines to get special premium-only items, transfer your characters and so on. The price for Ogrines varies depending on the amount you wish to buy: the least you can get is 800 Ogrines with $2.00 while the most you can purchase at once is 50,000 Ogrines in exchange of $80.00. You can pay using your credit card or your mobile phone.
Dofus uses a currency called Ogrines. These are very expensive. You can get only 800 Ogrines for $2.00. You’ll need a lot more to win at Dofus. Download our free Dofus hack tool to easily and freely get Ogrines.
It’s very easy to use. Take a look at the image below to see how quick and easy using our Dofus hack tool is. No surveys needed to use the 2016 Dofus hack! Just enter the amount of Ogrines you want.
Download our Dofus hack from our website. It takes 30 seconds to download. After it downloads, it’ll install. This takes about another 30 seconds. Select PC or Mac. You don’t need to fill out any surveys to use the tool. Then, enter how many Ogrines you would like. Click the big, blue “start” button.
This should start the hack. Once completed — don’t worry, it’s very quick! — open the app on your device. It will run normally, but with the added benefit of your extra Ogrines! Have fun!
While most of the gamers are divided between console lovers and PC lovers, there is a niche dedicated to the uncommon users (they’re not hipsters, ok?) who prefer some good old browser games. Because of them, there are hundreds if not thousands of different titles they can pick from in 2016. In this ‘great mass’ of different games, there are some decent RPGs and even fewer good MMORPGs. Fortunately, not only that Dofus is one of them but it provides an authentic experience as well.
There is no wonder why Dofus received a lot of gaming-related rewards in the past – it has a lot of great content. Probably one of the best feature the game has is the huge amount of customization available for your character (avatar). You can choose from 16 different roles, you can have up to 3 professions (such as gatherer or wood-chopper) and you can choose from literally hundreds of items and abilities.
If you came to this game looking for a proper RPG with a proper character progression, you just find yourself one. In addition to this there is an immersive story filled with a lot of quests which surprisingly aren’t that boring or repetitive (some of them will be similar but nothing too annoying). Also, the grinding seems pretty low from what I’ve experienced so far. Another thing I appreciate about Dofus is the thorough implication of the developers into the social features of the game.
Besides the commonly possibilities of joining guild and temporary groups, you can trade stuff, make friends (Private Messages included) and even make an enemy list. You read that right, you can list your enemies. One other thing I like in Dofus is the combat system. It may seem boring but once you understand it, you will enjoy it. Turned-based fighting is always fun – it makes you think and it feels like a twisted mode of a chess game. Also, the combat is hilarious when playing with a group.
Here comes the part where I say, briefly (no worries), what I don’t like about Dofus or what I would change if given the possibility. First of all, probably the thing I dislike the most about the game is the fact that it can easily be exploited. I’ve encountered several hackers and I read a lot about people who are constantly playing on multiple accounts so that they can boost their main one.
That’s a bit sad and I honestly think that the developers should take some proper actions. Secondly, I must say that the game can be a bit confusing and that’s probably because it is an open world. Don’t get me wrong, having an open world is a great thing but some proper directions and an interactive map would be very helpful. Lastly but not least I believe that the developers of Dofus should try to optimize better the game in browsers. I tried it both on Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome and I experienced a bit of lag on the second and from what I’ve read it’s a common issue.
Overall, Dofus is a game I would most likely recommend. It is a perfect choice for those of you who don’t consider yourself hardcore enough to play a ‘real’ multiplayer RPG but still want to interaction with other players and such.
Ratings
Artwork: Dofus gets a rating of 8 out of 10 for its artwork. The game is really colorful and the theme even though it is meant to be thoughtful can’t be taken too seriously. You basically play in a cartoon (this is not a bad thing though). The character design is interesting and the amount of customization available is something the developers should be proud of.
The environment interacts enough with the player to be considered interesting and the environment is decent. The only problem with this title is the graphics which are clearly limited by the fact that Dofus is a Flash game after all. But I don’t have a problem with that so everything is cool.
Music & SFX: I give the game a rating of 7 out of 10 for its music and sound effects. There are several songs into Dofus so I can’t complain much about the variety. Personally, I am not impressed by the music of the game but I admit that it does its job properly.
While the soundtrack is interesting and matches with the overall atmosphere of Dofus, I can’t say the same about the SFX. Those sound effects are rather weird than good and most them seem out of place. There is still room for improvement and a totally remake wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
Story/Originality: The game gets a rating of 8 out of 10 at this section. The story in Dofus is pretty interesting even though I can’t say that it amazed me. There are some things that don’t add up but overall is something you should keep an eye on. In terms of originality I must say that the game gets a decent note. It’s true that there are a lot of similarities between Dofus and other games but that is common in RPGs. Fortunately, there are enough original elements and features to consider it authentic nevertheless.
General Gameplay: I give Dofus a rating of 8 out of 10 for its general gameplay. Because the game is a MMORPG title, it is natural to be overwhelming for both the inexperienced and experienced players. The tutorial from the beginning is long enough to get you started but you won’t be an expert by the time you finish it. The good thing is that the controls, the quests and the character progress are user-friendly. The bad thing is that you will get disoriented fast. For the time I’ve played I haven’t encountered any major bugs, freezes (just the occasional 2-second lag spike on a specific browser) or crashes.
Addictiveness: Dofus gets a rating of 9 out of 10 for its addictiveness. The game has all the required elements to be considered an addictive title. It is a massive multiplayer-only app, you have a complex character progression and customization, different events, guilds, a long story and the list can go on almost indefinitely. Also, after all this years, the developers are still updating Dofus and that’s the living proof that they still trust the game’s potential. Even though casual players tend to avoid RPG games because of their complexity, I believe that Dofus is ‘friendly’ enough for everyone.
Overall, Dofus gets a rating of 8 out of 10. The game has its fair share of flaws and problems but all in all it is a solid title. I believe that every almost-hardcore RPG should give it a chance because the probability of having a great experience with it is high.
