How to dig deep in Towers & Dungeons: hints, tips, and tricks

How are you finding Towers & Dungeons?

Enjoying it, I imagine... I mean, why else would you be reading this guide?

But, are you having trouble improving the life of your minions? Again, silly question probably.

So, if you're in need of some super tips for building a spiralling tower or a deep dank dungeon - or indeed both - read on.

Completing tasks

This is what you'll be spending most of your time doing, so let's focus on how you can do it better.

The first thing you need to know is that you're not really punished too heavily for failing to obey your minions' every command. If some little upstart comes knocking at your door looking for you to find him 'x' number of 'x' and you don't feel like doing so, then don't.

If you're a kind soul - and want to wring every last resource out of the blighters - then take every task that comes your way. You'll hear their knocking on the door, and a small icon will appear in the bottom-right-hand side of the screen. You can tap it to head straight to the entrance.

Once you've accepted one of these mini-quests, you've usually got half a minute before your minion gets fed up and swans off. This may seem like a short period of time, but if you're patient and methodical with the way you search rooms for the objects requested, it's actually more than enough to get everything done.

Slowly but constantly browse through the rooms for the fiddles, sacks of mail, piles of smelly clothes, and any other trinkets your minions have requested. Objects tend to be at one extreme of the room or the other, so look to the far left and right rather than the centre.

Once you've got comfortable with this technique, try collecting resources or starting room tasks while you're ascending or descending the building. It'll save you time in the long run, and, hey, if you screw up the mission, there'll be another one along shortly, anyway.

Dovah-kin

There is one person in your building that you'll never want to say 'no' to, though. He is the little green dragon.

Whenever this diminutive chap asks you to do something, always accept, for he'll give you money - the rarest of all resources - for doing so.

You can use the money you acquire to buy large quantities of resources - either food or building materials - but you're better off spending it on bonuses which add a bonus percentage to food or materials produced by a task.

For instance: you can use a Juice Stand to make Juice every twelve minutes. In the process, this will yield 412 units of food. However, splash out just 500 gold for the first level of More Food bonus, and you'll produce an extra 10 per cent of juicy goodness.

Plump for tier one of the Faster Work bonus and you can knock 5 per cent off of the waiting time. The same thing applies to construction materials and related bonuses. Head to the Store (under the 'cog' icon on the game screen) to investigate further.

Build-a-lot

The other main area where you can improve your game is in the actual process of building floors.

A good tip for the start of the game, or whenever you have spare resources kicking about, is to build more levels. Focus on building one way if you can, as there are Achievements to gain for reaching 'x' number of floors high or deep. You'll be rewarded with money for doing so.

You'll want to keep building higher (or lower) so that you can unlock new types of level. These allow you to make different types of room. These rooms feature higher-quality items that yield more resources, and usually over longer periods of time.

You should also ensure you're making improvements to the rooms you already have, as you'll gain more resources per item produced that way. It's simple maths at this point: put in more resources to make a room better, and over time they'll pay dividends.

If you're a true dungeon (or tower) master, you'll want to keep an eye out for any Proximity Bonuses you'll get for building certain rooms next to one another, too.

If you build a Studio next to a Quarry, for example, any goods produced there will see their value increased by 20 per cent. That's a significant chunk of resources, so bear it in mind when building.

There you have it: all the tips you'll need to be the best builder you can be. If you think we've missed anything, though, feel free to let the rest of the world know by leaving us a comment in the box below.
