It’s time to get a bit more in depth with Epic Pirates Story – we have checked out the game’s review recently and it’s now time to become Pros: I have some Epic Pirates Story cheats, a guide and some tips, to help you get the most out of the game and make sure that you never lose a battle. So grab that bottle of rum, matey and let’s get ourselves some booty!
We’ll start this Epic Pirates Story article with a “how to play” guide that will take you through all the gameplay mechanics and make sure that you understand the interface and everything else – in other words, a complete Epic Pirates Story guide!
The island’s view is what you will be seeing for most of the time:
This is the place where you build the structures and where the pirates care about their day-by-day lives. Clicking the Menu button in the lower right area of the screen, will bring up all the options that you have in the game:
- Party: which shows you all the pirates that you have and gives you the opportunity to customize their equipment
- Quests: the area that keeps the story going and helps you get to battle
- Buildings: The menu from where you get to build the different structures available in the game, including houses for pirates and decorations
- Events: the option to spend some money to improve the stats of all your pirates.
When going to battle, there are three different types of icons you will have: green, meaning an easy battle, yellow which means a pretty difficult battle and red which marks an impossible to win fight. In case you haven’t done so from the menu, each battle allows you to change the equipment of your pirates before getting to action:
You can also arrange the order of your pirates from here and it’s a good idea to keep your shooters behind melee fighters:
Now, for the battle itself, there is not much that you can do than watch and hope that it all goes well!
In Epic Pirates Story, each of your pirate has a bunch of skills that you can help improve either by leveling them up, by sending them to different buildings to improve their stats or by giving them better equipment. Each pirate has 5 skills categories, and these are:
- Beer jug: Stamina aka you pirate’s health bar
- Fist: Power aka their attack skill
- Shield: Dexterity aka their ability to block an incoming attack
- Luck: The chances of getting a double damage strike (and maybe affecting the loot found in treasures)
- Ship: Sailing, but I have absolutely no idea what this stat is used for.
Although you don’t have much direct effect on what skills the pirates improve, you can “play” a bit and help them improve the ones that you want improved the most. This is by the obvious means of selecting from the inventory the items you find more suitable, and the less obvious one by placing decorations near buildings that improve the skills that you prefer, therefore making them more likely to attract the pirates and actually improve those skills.
The game’s time goes on a weekly basis, and each week the pirates will perform an action: visit one of the buildings to improve their skills or rest after a battle.
Epic Pirates Story is a pretty linear game and it will be a great idea to complete the quests chronologically (actually, it will be very difficult to do otherwise, since the game will give you monsters that are too powerful). If you somehow happen to find a mission impossible to finish (as it was for me the Sea’s Doom quest), try completing others, replaying that quest as the monsters will be different or try to complete the story mission first and only then, immediately, tackle the difficult mission.
- Don’t hold events until you have at least 4 pirates – this way you will improve the skills of more men for the same amount of money!
- If you have the time, let the game run on its own for several minutes – this way, your pirates will improve their skills a bit and it will be useful. Don’t ignore the game completely though, as random events (usually new pirates coming to live there) might happen
- Every now and then do a complete rebuild of your characters. I go through all the pirates’ items, remove them, and them I make sure to give the best equipment to the pirates that I will be always using in battle, with a focus on stamina for the melee fighters and damage for the ranged ones
- It’s good to try and plan ahead early on the way your island will look like in terms of buildings placement. It’s better to try and have a “living quarters” where you will place all the houses and a “skills” area where you place buildings and surround them with decorations based on your needs.
