This The Sims 4 guide includes a description of every single aspect of the game. You can find here tips about, for example, creating your own Sim, modifying its physical features, choosing its clothes and apparel and choosing its character traits. You will also learn leading your Sim through its career and earning as much Simoleons as you can so you can create (and keep) the home which you dream about. You can also check which career is the most profitable by design. In this guide you will find a lot of useful information about creating and transforming a house and selecting furniture. You will also read about social relations between Sims and how to use this relations to create an interesting and successful family. The Sims 4 is the newest title of the one of the most popular video game series. It allows you to take over the faith of virtual people whom you have to provide a shelter, necessary items and some entertainment to keep them happy. This game develops the gameplay from its predecessors and presents some new ideas as well. Still the main content is creating and taking care of your Sims however you will have an access to a lot more modifiers and options than in the third game of the series. Thanks to the visual editor you can be much more specific with the details of your Sim's appearance. Also the Sim's nature still has a huge importance. Players have to choose only few (from many) feats which shape the Sim's behavior. You can also choose a long-term aspirations of your hero.

When you will begin a game and you will create a new Sim or you will raise a child in your Sim-family you should be very thoughtful about its traits since you can never change possessed traits. Think what do you want to do with a specific Sim during its Sim-life and choose a suitable trait. If you want to have a big family choose a Family trait, if you want to paint, write books or something like that you should choose a Creative trait, if you want to focus on your income you should choose a Fortune trait and so on.
You should watch your Sim's Wishes and if you want you should satisfy them to receive Lifetime Happiness points. Remember that these Wishes are related to the treats, mood, learned skills and overall the situation in which your Sim is in.
Choose your Aspiration which will suit your character and career and complete side quests related to it. Fulfilling your Aspiration will provide you even more Happiness.
You can exchange your Happiness points in a "reward shop" for potions or new, very valuable Sim's traits.
Big residences are beautiful however your Sims will waste a lot of time walking between rooms in such a building. When you are planning your house you should especially focus on their functionality instead of their visual design. You should plan your house so your kitchen, bathroom and bedroom would be very close to each other. Don't be afraid of creating some extra passages between them or, for example, setting up few entrances to the bathroom one from each side. It will safe your Sims' time since they will not wander around to get inside.
Don't place any crucial room on the second floor. Walking through the stairs takes a lot of time. Try to keep every bedroom (including the children rooms) on the first floor. You can use the second floor for example as an attic where you can hide some stuff even without the possibility to get inside (lack of stairs). Just remember that walking through the stairs takes an incredible amount of time.
Playing a lonely Sim in The Sims 4 is much less interesting than playing a whole family. If you have a partner and children (and you will control all these Sims) you will receive additional advantages. Even if you have to control more Sims at the same time your life will be much easier. Your Sim will always be able to fulfill his social needs. Having a family helps you meet some promotion requirements during your careers since they sometimes are focused on social contact (for example you may have to give a tip to someone, have a friend and so on). Additionally this way allows you to play forever since your legacy can be passed from one generation to another and the family's wealth keeps growing through this time.
The Sims is the life, and to live you have to earn money. You should choose your career wisely. If you want to focus on the highest income you can check the weekly salaries of the available careers and their branches underneath. We bolded the most profitable values.

In the other chapter you can find the precise description of every career including the way which you have to finish to earn the value which you can expect. Remember that sometimes the better income is related to the bigger effort which you have to put if you want to be promoted. You should also notice that the creative careers (Tech Guru, Writer, Painting) have a low basic income although you can use the learned abilities (Programming, Writing, Painting) to receive some extra money.
To be promoted faster you should complete your daily tasks such as writing new sketches or making meals. You should also go to work with an Emotion which your employer requires.
Don't limit yourself to your main career. Thanks to the Writing skill you can write new books and receive daily royalties even as high as 2000 Simoleons. The Painting skill allows you to create and new arts and sell them for even few hundreds Simoleons each. The Programming skill allows you to write new video games, apps or plugins and earn daily royalties for all of them. Theoretically if you would spend your entire time creating new things you could earn even more than thanks to the best careers.
Your first task upon beginning the game is to create a Sim (or several Sims) whose life you will control. You'll give them names, decide about their sex, their clothes (casual, formal etc.), voice, age etc. You'll choose their aspirations, which is an essential element because they affect the Sim's most important needs and what you'll be rewarded for. The possibilities are almost endless. You can always use the die icon that chooses the specific element randomly.
First, choose your Sim's first and last name. If you can't decide, you can choose a random one (die icon). Then, choose the sex. The game does not contain any gender stereotypes, so every Sim can choose any career path, befriend any other Sim, do all the housework etc. The only limitation is purely biological - giving birth.
In The Sims 4 you can choose from five age groups:
Remember that when you create a family, it must include at least one adult (it can be a young adult) - your family can't consist of just children and teens. If you create an elder, you can't do too much because they don't have much time left. It's best to start as a young adult.
It's a new element that helps your Sim be different than others. You can choose a walk style (teens and older). Aside from the default one, you can choose e.g. tough, swagger or feminine walk.
There are three types of voice for men and three for women in The Sims 4. In case of men, you can choose between clear, warm, and brash voice. For women you can choose from sweet, Below, using a slider, you can choose pitch of the voice. The choice might seem trivial, but remember that you'll hear your Sim's voice really often.
Click the Sim's face to change their appearance. The game offers a variety of possibilities in this matter. You can choose from predefined looks (the list on the right) or enter Detail edit mode, where you can manually change the appearance of a selected part of the face.
First, take a look at your Sim's whole body. You can change the size of specific parts of body like thighs, calves, hips, stomach, feet, arms etc. by clicking them and dragging left or right.
First, choose the skin tone. You can choose between sixteen typical tones (from white to black skin) and two unusual - green and blue. Below you can choose predefined shapes of face. You can choose one of them, then tweak it by clicking specific elements or entering Detail edit mode (described below).
When you choose a face shape, you can change the size of particular elements by clicking them.
Click particular elements to change their appearance. You can tweak e.g. nose, shape of head, eyes (including colour), cheeks, chin, eyes etc.
In skin details you can edit some additional elements like wrinkles, birthmarks, freckles etc.
The next tab is responsible for appearance and colour of hair. Hairstyles are divided into three categories - short, medium and long. You can choose from over a dozen hair colours.
You can give your Sim a hat. They have been divided into three categories: with brim, without brim, caps. You don't have to add a hat to every outfit.
It's almost the end of this stage. Here you can choose accessories: earrings, glasses and necklaces. There isn't much choice (especially for men) but you can find some interesting items here.
The last element you can select is make-up. You can add some (for men too) to your Sim's eyes, add eye shadow, eyeliner and, in case of women, blush and lipstick.
There is an icon on the left side of the head. When you click it, you'll enter detail edit mode. You can tweak many elements of face there with a lot of precision. Click an element and drag it to change the appearance.
The next part is creating the Sim's outfit. Click any part of clothing to see a panel where you can choose clothes. First tab on the top is Body. Sliders on the left let you control their muscles and weight.
On the right you can see some predefined figures. You can also choose skin tone here.
In the second tab (Tattoos) you can give your Sim some tattoos. If you want, that is, because the Sim doesn't have to have any. If you choose to tattoo them, remember that you can choose several tattoos, but only one for each body part. So you can have a tattoo on one or both hands and/or on the back.
The next step is choosing outfits. Your Sim must have at least one of each category: everyday, formal, athletic, sleep, and party. Of course, formal outfit should not consist of t-shirt and shorts, but the game lets you choose so. All outfits are defined by default, so you can skip this step by clicking the button in the upper right corner. Predefined styles are a huge convenience if you want to save time on fitting shoes, shirts and trousers. You can choose a complete outfit in any of the five categories.
The categories of outfits are located at the top of the screen. Click the bar above them and you'll see that you can choose up to five outfits in each category. Later on, when you want to change clothes, you'll choose outfits from the ones you've selected. The colours of clothes and available clothes/outfits are located in the lower part of this panel.
If you decide to choose your own outfit, you have a multitude of possibilities. In case of tops, you can choose from: jackets, t-shirts, sweaters, pullovers, sweatshirts, polo shirts and vests, in case of women you can also select blouses and bras, while for men - button-ups.
When you choose clothes, it's a good idea to use filters - a button located above the list of clothes. You can, for example, want to find blue, cotton, smart clothes. Filters make choosing clothes in a specific colour or style much easier than looking through all available clothes. Remember to click the icon at the bottom after choosing something to open a window with available colours.
You can also choose clothes for whole body. For women, these are tracksuits, long dresses, short dresses, lingerie. For men, you can select suits and formal outfits. You can also choose costumes and robes.
If you don't want an outfit for whole body, you have to fit a bottom to the top you've selected. You have a complete freedom of choice here. You can choose from: trousers, shorts, jeans, underwear and - for women - skirts.
Accessories are a very important element that completes the outfit. You can choose from bracelets, gloves, rings, socks and - for women - leggings. Note that watches and bracelets are shown on a specific hand and they can be worn only there.
The last element are the shoes. They are divided into sandals, slip-ons, sneakers, boots and - only for women - flat heels, high heels and platforms. Remember that even if you choose one of predefined outfits, you can change it with shoes and accessories.
To add more Sims to the family, click the icon in the lower left corner. When you select "add a new Sim", creating them looks like creating any other Sim - you have to choose their traits, aspirations, appearance, clothes etc. There can be up to eight Sims in a family.
When you create at least two Sims, you'll be able to define the relationship between them, just click the button on the right side of voice selection. Depending on a situation and age, you can choose roommate, husband/wife (sex does not matter), brother/sister or father/mother.
When your two Sims are married or roommates, you can create their child with "play with genetics".
Choose "Child" on a pop-up list, then select two Sims below. Then choose sex and age (child or teen) and click "create son/daughter". You can modify the child, both in appearance and clothes. When it's done, choose their aspirations and traits and give them a name.
After creating a Sim, you can use genes to create their parent or siblings. The process is very similar to creating children, just choose another relations from the list.
When you finish creating the family, click the button in the lower right corner and accept in the pop-up window.
After you have picked the basic traits of the Sim, you need to pick the aspiractions of their life. It is worth pointing out that, in the case of a child, your choice has been limited to four basic and general elements only but, after you progress over to a teenager, you gain access to all the aspirations. Aspirations have been put into 10 categories and there are one, up to three aspirations to choose from. Each aspiration provides the Sim with a bonus personal trait.
Your chice is very important but, you need to know that you can alter it, at any point, in the Sim's aspiration panel [G]. Remember that what you want to focus on, during the lifetime of your Sim (career, family life, creative life) needs to be reflected by the aspiration that you choose - it is going to be easier this way and the satisfaction that you draw from your successes will be higher.
There are two aspirations here. You can pick Public enemy, where the Sima will aspire to leading a criminal life and doing mean things to the others. The second one is Chief of Mischief, where the only pleasure of the Sim is to play practical jokes on others, with malicious interactions.
Bonus trait: Dastardly - Sims enter into negative interactions with a boosted effect.
A Fabulously Wealthy Sim wants to amass a huge fortune and achieve professional success. The other possibility is the Mansion Baron where the goal is to own a huge valuable housr with lots of works of arts, windows, columns.
Bonus Trait: Business Savvy - Sims earn a bit more at work.
In the case of the Master Chief aspiration, your goal is to learn the art of cooking and exquisite cooking, starting a career in culinary arts and preparing many splendid dishes. Master Mixiologist wants to learn mixiology, own a bar and create more and more, and better beverages.
Bonus Trait: Essence of Flavor - Sims prepare food and beverages of higher quality.
You have access to, as many as, three options: painting - Painter Extraordinaire, music - Musical Genius and writing - Bestselling Author. The aim here is, of course, is to attain mastery of each creative activity, connected with the aspirations, and to create masterpieces in a given category.
Bonus Trait: Muser - Sim develops the traits faster if inspired.
A Hopeful Romantic wants to meet with multiple partners, learn about them, date a lot and develop Charisma. A Soulmate is the exact opposite and craves for stability a successful relationship, successful dates and positive relations with the spouse.
Bonus Trait: Alluring - the effectiveness of Sims, at interactions from Love category,is higher.
With the Freelance Botanist aspiration, your Sim wants to learn gardening and own a garden: to prune, fertilize, gather crops, evolve and own many happy plants. The Curator wants to amass the objects that can be found: rocks, crystals, fossils, elements etc. The Angling Ace desires to learn angling and wants to catch more and more fishes of various species.
Bonus Trait: Collector - thanks to this, the Sim will have it easier to find rare specimens.
The Joke Star wants to learn comedic skills and engage in hilarious interactions with the other Sims, write and perform comedic acts. The Party Animal Sim wants to have many friends, throw parties and take part in parties. The Friend to the World, wants to have as many friends as possible and develop Charisma.
Bonus Trait: Gregarious - These Sims, find it easier to enter relationships with others.
THe aim of a Sim with Successful Lineage is to have a child, to read to the child, teach them and wait to see them successful, i.e. fulfill their aspirations, or reach the peak of professional career. The sim with Big Happy Family wants more children, make friends with them and wait to see them get married and have their own children.
Bonus Trait: Domestic - family bonds get firm faster.
There is only one aspiration here - Body Builder where the Sim wants to attain high fitness, train for hours and mentor the other Sims on their training routines.
Bonus Trait: High Metabolism- allows the Sim to attain a higher level of fitness and to maintain a fitter body.
Renaissance Sim wants to be interdisciplinary, to develop multiple skills and to work at several different places. The Nerd Brain wants a rocket and upgrade it, to read books, develop logical skills and cosmological skills, to fix and upgrade household appliances. Computer Whiz desires to expand software development skills, spend many hours on the computer, earn money on transmissions or tournaments, to start a career of a technological guru.
Bonus Trait: Quick Learner - The Sim develops all their skills a bit faster.
A very important element are the Sim's character traits. They are the source of the Sim's whims, whose satisfying provides you with points of satisfaction. In total, an adult Sim has four characteristics. You receive one of them - the bonus one - after you choose your life aspiration. As for the remaining three, you can pick them yourself. In the case of a child, you make your choice from among a bit limited pool of traits. With the teenager, you pick two characteristics and with an adolescent , adult or senior you pick three. You should choose wisely because, unlike in the case of aspirations, you cannot alter your initial choice during the Sim's lifetime. Characteristics have been put into four categories: mental, hobby, lifestyle and social.
Active - These Sims want to perform physical exercises, they are often hyperactive.
Genius - they are often focused, want to develop their mental abilities.

Materialistic- they like boasting what thehave, in front of the other Sims, they like new and better things and they become sad if a new item does not appear at home, over a period of time.
Slob - household appliances get dirty faster around them but they do not worry about that whatsoever.

Mean - they are happy when they are mean or malicious towards the other Sims; they are confident when they win in a fight.
Evil- they are happy around Sims with negative moodlets, get angry while interacting with the good Sims.
You need to remember that some of the traits, simply, cannot be combined. The obvious matter is that, if you have already picked the Good trait for a Sim, you cannot add Evil. But there are many more, sometimes quite unexpected opposites. The list of the mutually exclusive traits:
Initially, you have limited funds, so you cannot afford much. Even if you have millions at your disposal, remember not to make your house too big. The main rooms, like bathroom, kitchen, or the bedroom should be close to the front door. This is about not wasting your Sim's time on walking around the house. The same is true for building another floor - walking up and down the stairs takes a lot of time.
Here is a handful of hints:
Once you start a family, you need a place to live in. You may choose from two "worlds", between which you will be able to move in the future. These are Oasis Spring and Willow Creek. Each has public parcels - which you can visit, e.g. for entertainment - as well as building plots. Note that some plots may already hold buildings, while others do not - these are vacant lots. Since you have only limited funds at the beginning, you cannot afford much. You possess 20.000 Simoleons for one Sim, 22.000 for two of them, and so on.
You can buy one of the available building lots. There are not many of them, but if you want to start building from scratch, this is the easiest way.
There is also another way. If you fancy a different plot, which you can afford, but there already is a building, you can demolish it. On the purchase screen select "Empty the lot". Then, you will pay as for a vacant lot.
This way you will get an empty lot. You may start building your house as you see fit.
Building and furnishing a house is discussed in respective chapters of the guide.
You can also select one of the already existing houses. Its price depends on construction costs, which means its sizes and the number of bedrooms and bathrooms. Do not expect anything exciting from the cheapest houses - everything there is simple and cheap.
Once you choose a house, there is yet another decision you may make. The house may already be equipped, i.e. furnished with things like: cabinets, a stove, a sink, and a refrigerator in the kitchen, a bed, and a dresser in the bedroom, a shower tub, a washbasin, and a toilet in the bathroom, and lighting in all rooms. Buying an all-equipped house will cost you around 25% more, thus leaving you with less Simoleons on your Sim's account.
Basically, you get a furnished house with basic, necessary furniture and appliances. They are of the lowest class, so things like a bed, a shower tab, and a toilet, should immediately be replaced for better ones. When you choose an all-equipped house, you can start playing right away. This is a good option for those who are not interested in building and furnishing their house.
You can also buy a house that is not furnished at all. Of course, this will be 25% cheaper, but you will spend that amount on furniture anyway.
Such house is not in raw state. It has windows, floor and wall coverings. The only thing it is missing, is furniture and appliances.
Furnishing a house is discussed in the respective chapter of the guide.
Once you move in into a house, open the build mode ("F3"). By clicking appropriate icons you get access to building and placing elements of the house: walls, the roof, doors, stairs, etc. All elements from a given category are displayed on the right side of the panel.
The upper panel is also very important. Using the first, cursor icon ("select") will allow you to select any object in order to move or sell it, as well as select a room, a roof, or a terrace, in order to change its size, etc. The next icon is "dropper" - it allows you to take a pattern off an existing item, e.g. a cabinet, or a wall covering, in order not to search for it in the items catalogue. With the third one, the hammer, you can delete any unwanted element: a roof, a bed, a wallpaper, etc.
The "design tool" enables you to change the pattern of a purchased item, e.g. a bed. You just need to click on a purchased item and select a different available color pattern. This is a very convenient tool when you want to rearrange a room's colors or when you are simply bored with the items color. The other two icons are: undo the previous action, and do it again. Finally you get to the parcel information panel, where you can change its name or insert the number of bedrooms and bathrooms. The last icon is about changing the time of day in the build mode.
As for building walls: using the first tool allows you to build one wall after another, thus constructing your house. You just need you start building and drag the wall where you want it.
The next tool allows you to raise rectangular or square walls, which make up a base for a new room.
More complex tools are under a couple of next icons of the panel. A convenient solution is to create a room in a chosen shape, and then use arrows next to it to change its size (you just need to hold an arrow and drag it, in order to expand it or shrink it back in a given direction).
Created rooms can be further divided with more walls. Plan all your standard rooms, like: the bedroom, the kitchen and dining room, the living room, and the bathroom.
Place the front door, as well as doors to particular rooms. Instead of doors, you may also use arches.
Let some light in - buy windows. In the future you may be able to change their placement - e.g. because of furniture, like a refrigerator - but you have to start somewhere.
Go to a proper section in the build panel. By selecting particular materials for wall coverings - e.g. bricks, wallpapers, or tiles - finish the room accordingly to its purpose. When you select a given pattern and place the cursor over a wall, hold "Shift" to cover the entire wall with the selected pattern. Do not forget about the walls from the outside!
Do the same for floors. Note that you do not have to use one pattern for an entire room. You may e.g. devote a portion of a large room to a different purpose and then use a different floor as a natural border.
The last basic element of a house is its roof. If the house is rectangular or square, you will do that in just a couple of seconds. The process is the same as in creating rooms. You place a small piece of a roof and then drag its edges with arrows.
You can also change its height, using the middle arrow.
If the house has an irregular shape, creating a roof will require two or more stages (it has to be curved).
Such house is an absolute minimum. Along with income increase you will be able to afford to expand it.
Time to finish your house! Go to purchase mode ("F2"). Here you can find dozens of items: beds, cabinets, tables, appliances, etc. You can browse the items list in two ways. The first is grouping items according to respective rooms: kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, dining room, office, children's room, and yard. In each of the rooms both necessary and optional items are distinguished.
The second way, is grouping items of the same type (the third icon), e.g. tabletops, electronics, lighting, etc. Each category contains all items of the same type according to their functions, so in the case of boards these are benches, tables, desks, tabletops, etc. The last items are on the right side of the panel.
Each item or appliance serves a role of its own. Additionally, using some of them grants your Sim particular skills. All information on this are in each item's description. Note that the higher the index, the better or faster is the effect. E.g. a personal computer may give your Sim fun, it can also be more durable or even completely unfailing (more expensive models). But thanks to the computer, the Sim may learn some skills, e.g. literacy or programming.
In the first stage of finishing the house, you should buy some basic lighting for each room.
One of the key rooms is the kitchen, initially combined with the dining room. You need a couple of cabinets - on whose tops you will be preparing meals - a refrigerator, a stove, and a sink. Optimally, you should put the refrigerator and the stove close to each other - it is best to put a single cabinet between them. In that case, the Sim takes necessary ingredients from the refrigerator, prepares them on the tabletop next to it, and then uses the stove to finish up the meal. Do not forget to put fire alarm above the stove.
Remember about a wastebin and a table with chairs. That is all you need for now. If you want, you may also buy a microwave oven, a coffee-maker, a hood, etc., however, these are not necessary at the moment.
As your Sim family grows, remember to provide them with a proper-sized table and a more spacious kitchen.
The key item in the bedroom is a bed - the more expensive, the better. You should not economize on that, because that will allow your Sim to sleep better and shorter, thus saving a lot of time. You can buy a single bed or a double bed with the view of the future. The other possible objects are: a dresser, where your Sim can change their clothes, optionally a closet, a mirror, etc. In the future, when you have more money, decorate the room, so to improve the Sim's mood. Remember that the bedroom should never be a crossing room, so that other Sims did not wake up the sleeping Sim.
Bathroom is a very (!) important room. You have to buy a toilet, a washbasin, a shower tub or a bathtub. The best bathtubs are the ones that come with a showerhead. Although you cannot afford much, when it comes to the bathroom - just as in bed's case - you should not economize. Buying a more expensive, but a better toilet and bathtub, will allow your Sim to satisfy their basic needs. As for further investments in the bathroom, apart from dcor, you should remember about closets, a big mirror, a rug, and flowers. If you have more Sims in the family, another bathroom may prove very useful.
Here you need a couch or an armchair. Better than TV buy a PC. Well, at the beginning, you do not need much.
Time for a show off comes in further stages (depending on your funds). You can buy a whole lot of elements of dcor for your living room, such as paintings and sculptures. In the center there may be a bar or a fireplace. However, a lot of work awaits you before you can afford all that.
If you want, you may devote a separate room to all sorts of equipment that help to improve your Sims' skills. These can be: a desk with a PC, a chessboard, a guitar, a violin, an easel, a bookshelf, a treadmill, and others. Initially, it is OK to put such items in the living room. However, later on, it is good to separate these things. May the living room be a place of relaxation and, e.g. loud TV or music. The office should primarily serve the purpose of developing your Sims' skills.
The house you build or purchase at the beginning may be just right for you for a long time, but sooner or later you will need to expand it. The Sims 4 offers really wide opportunities for enlarging existing rooms without demolishing them. You may expand your house by increasing the size of rooms, building new ones, or creating another floor.
While building a house, initially you may not be aware of how you will want to expand it in the future. If you would like to move the entire building, it is possible. In the main panel, you should select the second icon from the right. Then click on the house and confirm your intent by clicking the icon in the middle, above the house (by using the icons on the sides you can turn the house by 90 degrees).
Now choose a new place for your house, confirm it and voila!
To add some class to your house, you may build its foundation. Go to the build mode and select the icon responsible for foundations. It has never been so easy to build this. You just need to adjust its thickness with a scrollbar.
Foundation will automatically "grow in" between the surface and the house itself, which in turn will rise a bit. In the future you may freely modify the foundation - either expand or remove it.
Note that implementing foundation necessitates creating stairs to every entrance, as the floor level has been raised. In the build mode select stairs, then choose their pattern and put them by the foundation. Once placed, they can be expanded or narrowed as you see fit.
Growing family and kids may force you to expand your house. First, you should consider adding new rooms and reorganizing the already existing ones. Extra rooms are created the same way as before - by raising walls or placing ready rooms of particular shapes. Add wall and floor coverings and do not forget about adjusting the size of the roof.
When expanding the house, remember that the married couple should have their own bedroom, just as seniors, and each child need their own child's room. You can also consider creating another bathroom - with 3-4 Sims in the family this is absolutely necessary. The living room can be separated from the dining room and the kitchen, but you may also create one, big common space.
If that is not enough for you, or you just want to build your house upwards instead of sideways, you can build another (and then yet another) floor. To that end you should first remove the roof. Zoom out the camera, select the removing tool (hammer) from the upper panel, and click on the roof.
Go back to the lower floor, look for the stairs icon in the build panel, then choose a pattern and place the stairs inside the house. Note that they take a lot of space.
Now you just need to go to the upper level and finish the new space the same way you did on the lower level: divide it into rooms, put windows and doors, cover walls and floors, etc.
Finally, do not forget about the roof - you removed it previously, so now you have to create it from scratch.
An interesting option is increasing walls height. Customarily they are low. You just have to click at an existing room while in the build mode, and then, using the three icons that appear above the panel, set a different number.
Increasing walls height opens access to taller doors. These are available in a respective category by the list of doors in build panel.
This option is useful, if you already have a huge residence. Increasing walls height, adding massive doors and windows, and putting friezes on the outside and by the roof makes for a splendid house.
When creating another floor, you may want to devote some space to a terrace. To that end, do not place rooms on the entire floor - choose a terrace in the build mode.
Then finish the space adding guard rails and door to the terrace as well as its floor. Add furniture, such as armchairs, a table, etc., and your Sims will be able to relax under the moon.
Terrace can also be built on the ground floor by using a proper tool in the build mode. Select a shape as you like, and then place it where you want it. Just as in the case of rooms or roofs, you can use arrows to set the size of the terrace.
You can also add some attractive irregular shapes. Do not forget about the door to the house. You can also create an exit to the yard.
There is also some space for you to develop around the house. You can make a garden, a playground for children, or a standalone workshop for your Sim.
Do not forget about greenery: bushes, flowers, alleys, fountains, etc. The only limits here are the amount of Simoleons and the size of the plot.
Using the terrain covering tool, you can freely change the look of the surface: it can be flowery grass, sand, gravel, or even stones.
If you do not feel like finishing or furnishing your house on your own, you can use yet another tool - custom rooms. You can browse tabs for available kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms, dining rooms, etc. When you choose one of the available rooms and its color pattern, you can buy it and then place on your parcel.
This way you can buy any of the basic rooms - the only thing you should keep in mind is door placement and the freedom of walking around the house. Building a house in The Sims has never been that easy! Note that you can always modify it.
To control a Sim, you need to left-click a specific spot, which opens the menu of the available interactions. The available options depend, first of all, on the spot that you clicked. If you click on the couch you will be able to choose from "take a nap" or "sit". After you click on the floor, you will hear "come here". But the available interactions also depend on the traits of the Sim - if the Sim has the active trait, apart from "come here" you also have access to "exercise", after you click the floor.
The available actions also depend on the Sim's mood (emotions). The change i mood often gives access to additional actions. Finally, the available actions also depend on the learned skills, e.g. if a Sim learned Handiness they will be able to upgrade many appliances.
A very important element effective on a Sim's life are his traits. These are available in an appropriate panel. Each adult Sim that you create can have three traits. The fourth trait depends on the aspiration that you have chosen for your Sim. All of these have been described in the Sim creation chapter. In tthe case of having a baby and getting older, you can pick new traits, as the Sim progresses to the next stage in life.
The selection of these traits is a key. If you want to focus on family life, pick the Family-Oriented. If you want to lead an exuberant social life, pick romantic and/or Outgoing. If you want to develop your fitness, pick active, etc. Remember that traits cannot be changed.
If you cannot make up your mind, an universal and helpful trait is: cheerful (where the Sim is more likely to get the Happy moodlet), and Quick Learner (which facilitates learning new skills, a bit). The attention worthy ones also are: good, active, creative, ambitious, materialistic etc.
Each newly-born Sim progresses through 6 successive stages in life: infant, child, teenager, young adult, adult, senior. The current age and the time remaining until the passage to the next age group can be looked up in the Simiology panel [Y].
Each of the stages in life comes with certain rights and restrictions. A child at the age of infancy cannot be controlled in any way. It only lies down in the pushchair. A Sim of the child's age is a schoolkid, whose aspirations and traits you can pick, as it is growing. A teen attends high school and may work part-time. A young adult and an adult are no different, in practical terms: they can enter relationships with the other Sims, they can work, move, etc. In the case of seniors, in The Sims 4 there is no retirement - a Sim may work until the death.
You can control the elapsing time as much as you want to, in the game options, in "Game" tab. You can disable getting older altogether: children remain children and adults remain adults forever. You can also decide how quickly the Sims progress to the next age group - you do that by altering life span. If you set the life to be "short", the Sims progress to the next stage of life after several days. If you set it to "long", after several tens of days. By default, this option is set to "normal".
A very important element that you need to keep an eye on, for the whole time, are the needs of the Sims (you can view them in the last tab, in the bottom-right corner of the screen). Satisfying them is the daily necessity and this is what the mood - emotions - of the Sim depends on. Four of these needs are purely physiological ones: Bladder, Hunger, Energy, and Hygiene. The green bar symbolizes satisfaction and the red one means that this need requires a quick intervention from you. You can ignore it, for some time, but you need to keep in mind that such a Sim, with his needs not satisfied, becomes uncomfortable - it is impossible to perform many of the activities then.
This is the basic need that you satisfy in the toiled. Remember, however that, if the bar is not yet red but, remember to satisfy that need if, e.g. the Sim goes to sleep, because he will then wake up in the middle of the night to do that, Always satisfy this need before you go to work. While at the library or in the park, or any other public place, also look for a toilet, if necessary. What happens if you ignore that? The Sim will finally wet himself where he stands, which adds the embarrassed moodlet.
Sims need to eat. This can be done in many ways. The bassic one is to prepare meals in the kitchen furnished with a fridge, tabletop and an oven. You can also order pizza - click the phone and select "Services"> "Pizza Delivery". You can also eat without the necessity to prepare something. It is enough to click the fridge and select "Have a snack". While out (e.g. at a bar or night club) where there is a bar, you can also satisfy hunger - click the bar and select "order crisps".
Sims need to rest. To satisfy this need, click on the bed and bed and click "Sleep". If you are not too tired yet, you can click on the bed and pick "Take a Nap" which will regenerate some of your energy. You can also satisfy this need in the kitchen, by buying a coffee maker and by making a coffee. If you ignore this need, he may fall asleep where he stands - he will wake up after some time with some of the energy regenerated.
There are many possible ways to satisfy this need. First of all, you can joke with the other Sims, by selecting the "funny" option from the interaction group. You can also play computer games, smartphone games or on the game mat. You can also watch TV, or read books. A very effective way is also to have a "tete-a-tete" with the Sim close to yours.
The way that you satisfy this need may hinge on your Sim's traits. If he is a Loner, this need arises very slowly. To satisfy it, you Simply need to meet up with another Sim and talk a little. You do not need to meet them in person - you can select "talk" on the computer or Simply give another Sim a call. What is very effective at satisfying this need are public places, especially the ones with a bar. There are many Sims coming around so, always go to an elegant club, bar or a night club to talk to someone. Also, you can Simply walk outside and wait for another Sim to come by.
To satisfy this need, "take a bath" in the tub or "take a shower" in the shower. You can also "wash hands" or "brush teeth" by clicking the sink.
An innovative feature in the game are the Sims emotions. The Sim's current mood is displayed as a text information and a specific color, next to the Sim's icon, on the bottom panel. The Sim's current mood depends on the situation that he is experiencing: social, professional, private, trifling matters, breakthrough moments, etc.
The so called, "moodlets" which affect the Sim's mood are displayed as icons above the head of the Sim. Together with the icon and the description, you also get the information on how long this particular mood will stay in effect. Some of the events are short-lasting, e.g. an hour or two. The other ones, the more important events, e.g. the wedding, the death of a friend, the cheating spouse, childbirth, reaching the peak of career may affect the Sim's mood for many hours and even one, or two days.
It is worth pointing out that the Sim's mood translates into the Sim's additional skills, e.g. additional interactions that are usually not available (possible only in one specific mood). There are a dozen-or-so moods available in the game and they may occur as either mild or acute, e.g. confident and more confident.
This is the list of the standard moods and their descriptions:
Fine - this is the standard mood of the Sim if no mood is affecting him at the moment.
Happy - any positive emotions of the Sim become even stronger.
Sad- it may be caused by sudden slight failures, or major events, such as the divorce of two Sims, or the death of a Sim friend.
Angry - anger can be brought about by a quarrel or a strife with another Sim, failure at work or at school etc. The Sim does not learn skills too well and experiences problems communicating with the other Sims. To calm down, it is best to take a shower, use the mirror or exhaust by training on a training machine.
Bored - may appear after a boring day at school or at work, or during too monotonous a conversation (selecting the same interactions over and over again).
Playful - to get this mood, you only need to joke around with the other Sims. It is easier for the Sim to Sim to cheer up the other Sims.
Focused - to get in the mood, play chess, look through the telescope or he microscope. n this state, the Sim develops his skills faster.
Flirty - Flirty interactions of the Sim take a better effect. To get into this mood, you Simply need to flirt around with another Sim.
Confident - it is easier for the Sim to succeed in all the interactions with the other Sims, he can develop charisma during conversations with the other Sims.
Embarrassed - an improper interaction, e.g. flirting with another, newly-met Sim, seeing the WooHoo of another Sim, can get the Sim into this mood.
Energized - an energized Sim is slower to get tired and his exercises yield better effects. To get energized, you Simly need to take a brisk shower or take a nap.
Dazed - appears, e.g. after a lost fight, such a Sim is less likely to do something useful. This can be averted with a nap or a bath.
Uncomfortable - appears when the Sim is put off by the surroundings, e.g. a mess, or when tired (low on energy).
Inspired - an inspired Sim is a creative one; to get into this mood, he Simply needs to think while taking a shower.
Tense - this may be caused by many factors, e.g. fire, reading too difficult a book , tough job or lack of promotion; to relieve the stress, you need to click the mirror and select "try to relax" or Simply take a bath. While tense, you cannot perform many activities, e.g. learn.
You select aspirations, i.e. a number of consecutive events that are the main goal in the Sim's life, while creating the Sim. This can be viewed later on in the aspirations panel [G].
At any moment, you can change your aspiration, by using the icon in the aspiration panel and selecting a new aspiration from the list. In the window on the right, there are four stages of a given aspiration displayed, along with their requirements. Meeting these requirements provides you with satisfaction points.
Fulfilling an aspiration provides you with an additional bonus, which you are informed about in the upper-right corner of the screen.

Sims have their whims that are displayed right above their heads, on the bottom panel. Their whims result, mainly, from:
1) the Sim's traits (e.g. an ambitious Sim will whim about a promotion at work);
2) aspiration (e.g. a Sim with the Nerd Brain aspiration wants to develop logic);
3) immediate circumstances (e.g. the presence of another Sim, staying at a bar);
4) current mood (e.g. a flirty Sim wants to enter flirty interactions).
Next to each whim, the number of the satisfaction points to obtain is displayed - a reward for satisfying the Sim's whim. It pays off to satisfy these whims and gather the points!
You also obtain satisfaction points by meeting the requirements of the successive stages of aspirations. The sum of the obtained satisfaction points can be viewed in the Sim's aspiration panel [G]. Right next to the number, there is an icon the you can access the reward store with.
By clicking on the Sim's aspirations tab [G] and on the present icon, you access the store, where you can spend satisfaction points for boosters. You only need to click "receive" next to the product (as long as you have the required number of satisfaction points).
Boosters have been divided into two categories: potions and traits. After you buy a potion, you can then find it in the Sim's inventory and you can use it at any moment. You can also give it to someone else. The effect of the potion is instantaneous, e.g. satisfying a need. All of the properties of the potions have been described below. A very useful potion is the potion of youth , thanks to which the clock is set back to the very beginning of the current age group. I.e. if he is left with 2 days, until he progresses from adult to senior the clock is set back to the beginning of the stage of adulthood.

This one is a very interesting career that requires, first of all, developing the skills of: logic and fitness and - depending on the selected path - charisma or meanness. At first, you need to go to work with a focused Sim, and later on, as confident. After the seventh level you can pick one of the branches: Space Ranger (A) or the Interstellar Smuggler (B).
The branch of the Space Ranger is easier, but the earnings are lower and they amount to 11816 Simoleons a week (with 4 workdays a week 7 hours a day). Being an Interstellar Smuggler requires more work, but the weekly pay is higher by 3000 Simoleons and they amount to 14868 Simoleons a week (with 4 workdays a week 9 hours a day). THe decision is yours.
To be promoted to the second level of this career, you need to be "enthusiastic about cosmos" with three Sims - this interaction is available in the "friendly" category. You only need to become friends with a Sim, a bit, and select this option. As a reward for becoming the Module cleaner (2) is an Astro Solar System Light. Being promoted to the third level requires you to attain logic level 2. - you only need to buy a chessboard and start exercising.
After you are promoted to the Command Center Lead (4) you need to start working on your fitness - for this, it is best to buy a weight machine, thanks to which you will also meet another promotion requirement - the necessity to exercise for 4 hours. And after you become the Space Cadet (6) you need to buy a treadmill, that you need to exercise on, at least, 12 hours. To be promoted even higher, you need to develop logic to level 4, and fitness to level 5.
After you become an Astronaut (7) you will receive an interesting item, Salyut Aeronaut Chair, that raises confidence in Sims. To be promoted higher, you need to improve logic and fitness to the level of 6. You also need to achieve the Starry Night Moodlet: while outside with another Sim, in the evening, select the "point to constellations", from among friendly interactions and you will meet this requirement.
After you meet the requirements for the next promotion, towards the end of the career, you need to choose either the Space Ranger (A), or the Interstellar Smuggler (B).
In the situation, in which you choose the good branch: while being promoted to Planet Patrol (8 A) you need to attain level 5 of charisma. Apart from that, but bar (if you still do not have it), click on it and "prepare a drink", from the list select Space Energy Drink. It will take more time to find 7 friends (remember that family members also count). Leave outdoors and wait for passers-by to make friends with them, or go to a public place, e.g. a park or a bar.
After you are promoted to the Sheriff of the Stars (9 A) you will receive a huge Astro-Bunn Beyond Infinity. To be promoted to the last level, you need to develop charisma and fitness to level 7. This simply requires time and you already have the equipment that you need. You only need to write a book. To do this, click on the computer and select "Write a Book..." - it does not really matter which genre you pick. With the last promotion, you become the Space Ranger (10 A) - you work 4 days a week 7 hours a day. Your weekly pay is 11816 Simoleons, and this is really a lot. Additionally, you receive the Apollo Rocketship, thanks to which you can develop cosmology sciences.
If you decide on the career of a villain, it is much more difficult to get promoted. After you are promoted to the Moon Mercenary (8 B) you will have no problems attaining level 3. in programming and mischief. What requires time, though, is hacking. Once you attain, at least, level 2. in programming click the computer and select: "Program" > "Hacking" > and select the items that appear in succession, such as " Lamehorn Service", " Lonhario Trust", " Landgraaba System" etc. After you hack into an individual thing, you need to wait for some time, until you can hack again (this is why it takes some time o earn 1000 Simoleons).
After you are promoted to the Alien Goods Trader (9 B) you receive the Zero G Training Bag. To be promoted in this branch for the last time, you need to attain level 8 fitness and level 5. mischief. The greatest challenge is to find the three space rocks. To do that, you need to buy the Retro Rocketship for 5000 Simoleons (in the device's mode, in the office category, click the picture of canvas to find it). Then, start building the rocket. If you do not have the cosmology sciences developed, this will take a long time.
After you complete it, select "Explore cosmos". In a rocket without upgrades you cannot do much. If possible, then (developed Handyman) keep upgrading the rocket by new elements, such as a larger cargo compartment, larger fuel tanks etc.. On the screen, just like in the career mode, you will see various stories, where you will have to decide what your Sim should do. It is what the success of the mission depends on. To obtain the three Space Rocks you need to take many such travels. Once you succeed, you will be promoted to the Interstellar Smuggler (10 B) - you will be working:

P - pay per hour's work (in Simoleons);
G - number of working hours a day;
D - number of working days a week;
T - total number of working hours a week;
P/week - total weekly pay;
R - requirements that you need to meet to be promoted (the number in parentheses, after the skill, specifies the level that you need to attain);
A - a bonus, in Simoleons, for being promoted.
During this career you will spend your entire time using a computer. You need to develop your Programming skill and one of this career's branches also requires the Video Gaming skill. You need to go to your work with the Focused emotion. After the sixth level you will be able to choose between two branches: the E-Sport Gamer Branch (A) and the Start Up Entrepreneur Branch (B).
The basic income related to these two branches is pretty much similar and is close to 7800 Simoleons. The E-Sport Gamer Branch (A) requires you to develop the additional Video Gaming skill. Because of that the Start Up Entrepreneur Branch (B) is much easier since you have to focus only on one skill which is the Programming. The B branch also allows you to increase your income thanks to the royalties which you will earn by writing new programs and games. Also the time which you have to spend in work is very short (close to fifteen hours per week). All these things make the branch B the better one.
You need to go to work with the Focused emotion. The best way to accomplish that is to spend about 2 hours right before your work playing chess (click on a chessboard and choose the "Think about moves" and then "Play"). You also need to spend some time using a computer every day (you can play, chat, write, program and so on). If you will consider what is needed to be promoted on the second rank in this career than your next actions will be obvious. Spend few hours playing some video games (click on a computer and choose the "Play video game" option). Once you will become the Quality Assurance (2) you will have to develop your Programming skills to the 2nd level what you will accomplish if you will learn programming for four hours. Just click on your computer and choose the "Learn programming" option.
Becoming a Code Monkey (3) will provide you a gift which will help you to stay focused - a Computer Hard Drive which you can install on your desk with a computer (don't forget to turn on the aura - click on a Hard Drive and choose an adequate option). To be promoted you have to learn Programming on level 3 and write few plugins. You can learn Programming from books or from the "Learn programming" option on your computer (what is the better choice since it will also fulfill your daily task). To complete the second task you need to click on a computer and choose the "Program..." option and then select the "Write a plugin" option. It will take a few moments although it will help you complete your quest and also you will earn some Simoleons.
Being an Ace Engineer (4) will provide you a new gift - a Sentinel watch which you can install next to your desk and also turn on the aura which will increase your focused emotion. To be promoted you have to reach the 4th level of Programming (you already know how to do that) and modify two video games. You need to click on a computer and select "Program..." > "Game modification..." > and then choose any title available. Use the same way to mod a second game as well. This entire task will take you few hours. After you will be promoted to the Project Manager (5) position you have to proceed developing your Programming skill to the 5th level and also write three new plugins on a computer (you also already know how to do that).
Becoming a Development Captain (6) provides you another small and useful reward which is an Innovator's Award for Excellence in Science which you need to install to increase your focused emotion. To be promoted you have to learn the 6th level of Programming and complete two freelancing jobs. Click on your computer and choose the "Program..." option and then the "Start working as a freelancer" option (if you will interrupt your work you can proceed by choosing the "Continue to work as a freelancer" option). You will complete your work after few hours and you will receive even few hundreds of Simoleons. You need to make two orders to be promoted.
During your promotion you have to choose between the E-Sport Gamer Branch (A) and the Start Up Entrepreneur Branch (B).
If you will choose the first branch you will be promoted to the eSports Competitor (7 A) position where your daily quest is not just using a computer in any way but instead you have to focus on playing video games. You need to develop the new skill called Video Gaming. To do that you can as use books (as always) or a phone, a computer or a gaming mat and just play any video game. You have to reach the 3rd level of this skill and you also have to be on a scored place in a tournament. To do so you have to click on a computer and select "Play a game..." > "Participate in a tournament" option. Notice reports in a right upper corner of the screen. If you have found an information according to which you have scored any place in a tournament it means you accomplished your task. If not, you have to try again.
After you will become a Pro Gamer (8 A) you will need to develop your Video Gaming skill to the sixth level which will require spending a lot of time gaming. You also have to be three more times on scored places in tournaments - try as long as you have to. Remember that after you will participate in a tournament you will have to wait some time for another one to be available.
You will become an APM Queen/King (9 A). You have to reach the 9th level of Video Gaming and become a popular streamer. To stream your game click on a computer and choose the "Play a game..." > "Livestream..." option and then select whatever game you want. In your career menu you can see your incoming viewers. If you want to have a stable growth of viewers you should change a game which you want to stream from time to time.
At the top of this branch your Sim will become a Champion Gamer (10 A) and will receive a new gaming mate. You need to work only five hours per day and you will earn a really low salary since it is only 7 872 Simoleons. You can also earn some small amount by livestreaming although it is better to focus on writing viruses, plugins, or working as a freelancer to increase your income.
If you will choose the second branch you will become The Next Big Thing? (7 B). From now on your daily training should be focused on Programming and you have to develop this skill to the 8th level as soon as you can. You also have to earn 250 Simoleons on royalties for mobile apps which you have to write (select an adequate option on your computer). It will take a few hours and you will receive a reward for finishing your work.
Additionally you will receive daily royalties for app which you have made and you have to receive 250 Simoleons from these royalties. Don't waste your time and start writing another app, and then another one, and then another one - they all will be useful for you. Your royalties for each program will be shown in the right upper corner every day. After you will be promoted to the Independent Consultant (8 B) position you will have to receive more income from your royalties - 2000 Simoleons. That's why it's important to write few apps as fast as you can since it will help you receive your money faster.
Becoming a Dot-Com Pioneer (9 B) challenges you with another big requirement. You have to reach the highest Programming level and also earn 2000 Simoleons from royalties for video games which you need to write. You should stop writing new apps and focus on games instead (click on a computer and choose the "Program..." > "Write a video game" option). After you will finish writing a game start creating a new one, and another one and so on. You can see your royalties in the same place where you can find royalties for your apps.
The top of this branch is a Start Up Genius (10 B). As a reward you will receive a Plasmatron 3000 Flat Screen TV. You will work for three days per week for five hours per day and you are going to earn only 7740 Simoleons per week. However if you will spend some extra time on writing new games and apps you can increase your income. Although royalties for your programs decrease with time you can easily receive from 1000 to 1500 Simoleons per week this way.

This career is not very profitable and requires Mischief and Charisma or Programming. At first you should go to work with the Energized emotion however later on you will need to be Confident or Focused (it depends on a branch which you will choose). After the fifth rank you have to choose which branch will you follow: the Boss (A) branch or the Oracle (B) branch. Every position requires you to work during night hours or evening hours.
The Boss's income is pretty decent since it's even about 12460 Simoleons per week (you have to work 4 days per week 7 hours per day) and it's the easier branch to finish. The second branch is more difficult since you have to learn Programming and your salaries are not impressive considering the effort - 8848 Simoleons (also 4 days per week and 7 hours per day). It is true that you can use Programming to increase your income thanks to the hacking or writing viruses although the first branch is still more profitable.
To be promoted to the second rank you have to learn Mischief. The easiest way is to buy a book and to complete this task early. To complete daily quest which is being involved in mean interpersonal relations you can just troll on the internet forums. After you will learn Mischief click on a computer and choose the "Social" > "Troll on forums" option. At first you should go to work with the energized emotion. The easiest way to do so is to take a quick shower right before work.
When you will become a Petty Thief (2) you should choose if you prefer to learn the 2nd level your Fitness or Programming. If you want to choose the Oracle branch you should choose Programming. To follow the Boss branch you can choose whatever you want. You can develop Programming using a computer and to develop Fitness you can buy for example a treadmill.
As a Ring Leader (3) you have to learn the second level of Charisma what is pretty easy if you will practice with a mirror. The second task is to argue with another Sim. Of course you should choose someone who isn't your friend or relative. Use as many "mean" and "vile" interactions as you need to be despised by this Sim.
As a Felonius Monk (4) you have to reach the 4th level of Mischief (you can to that thanks to the "mean" and "vile" interactions) and you have to pickpocket 5 Sims. To do that you need to be liked by another Sim and then you can use the "Pickpocket" interaction. When you will become a Minor Crime Lord (5) you will need to develop your Mischief to level 6 and your Fitness or Programming to level 4 (obviously the easiest way is to continue leveling the skill which you have chosen as a Petty Thief (2)). After you will meet these requirements you will have to choose your future branch. You can choose the Boss (A) branch or the Oracle (B) branch.
If you will choose the A branch you will be promoted to a Muscle (6 A) and you will receive an interesting piece of "furniture" - a stolen ATM. From now on you should go to work with a Confident emotion although your daily task will not change. To be promoted you have to face three requirements. You have to learn the 4th level of Charisma (the easiest way is to use a mirror). Learning the 7th level of Mischief takes some time and you just need to meanly interact with other Sims. It will help you complete the third requirement: you have to be despised by 4 Sims. The easiest way to be despised is to finish the entire mean interaction with a brawl. When you will become a Getaway Driver (7 A) you will have to learn the 8th level of Mischief and the 3rd level of Logic. You should notice that you have only two working days per week.
As a Safe Cracker (8 A) you will receive an interesting reward which is a Stolen Necklace of the Late Duchess Pinky which you can find in a cabinet. Now you have to learn the 6th level of Logic and win three games of chess. To do so you can just invite a friend (or a best friend) and ask him to play with you (click on a chessboard and choose the "Play with..." option). In the career menu you will find an information about how many games you have won.
As The Brains (9 A) you need to do three thing to get to the top. You need to learn the 10th level of Mischief. It takes a lot of work. You can help yourself with books to avoid fighting with every Sim from your neighborhood. You also have to learn the 6th level of Charisma (you already know how). The last thing you need is to be despised by 6 Sims (you did the same thing before). As a Boss (10 A) you work 4 days per week and 7 hours per day. Your salary is 12460 Simoleons which is really good. You will also receive a punching bag.
If you will choose the B branch you will be promoted to DigiThief (6 B) and you will receive a Spy Satellite. You will start a tough work which involves using a computer what will proceed during the rest of your career. You have to learn the 7th level of Mischief (you already know how) and also the 5th level of Programming. The easiest way is to use the "Learn programming" option on your computer. When you will learn the 2nd level you can start hacking ("Program..." > "Hack..." and choose what you can - new options will be unlocked with new levels). A very important thing is that once you will hack something this option will be unavailable for some time and you will have to wait before you will try to hack the same place again. Right now you only need to successfully hack something 3 times.
To be promoted on an Elite Hacker (7 B) position you need to learn the 8th level of Mischief. The second requirement is to successfully hack into mainframes 3 times. It's a similar quest to the one from the previous position, however you should notice, that you can fail your attempt to hack a mainframe and you will have to keep trying until you will succeed. As an An0nymous Ghost (8 A) you have to focus on learning the 7th level of programming. The second task takes a lot of time. You have to earn 2500 Simoleons with hacking. It means you need to hack many mainframes and it can take you even dozens of attempts. Remember that every time you hack a server which you try to hack also disables your access to it.
Finally you will become a Net Demon (9 A). You are close to the very top of this career. You have to face three promotion requirements. The first one is to learn the 10th level of Mischief. As always the easiest way to it is to troll in the Internet. The second thing is to learn the 8th level of Programming (thanks to the "Learn programming" option). The third task is to write 10 viruses what is quite a profitable work. To do so you have to click on a computer and choose the "Program..." > "Write a virus" option ten times. You will be promoted to an Oracle (10 B) position and you will receive a Mayhem Portable Computer. You work 4 days per week 7 hours per day (actually per night) and your salary is pretty bad since its precisely 8848 Simoleons. Considering how much effort you've put into learning and completing your tasks this income is very low, however you can raise it by writing new viruses or hacking.

This career is interesting although unprofitable. You have to focus on the Writing skill and one branch also requires Charisma. This entire career irrespective of what branch will you choose requires the Inspired emotion. After you will pass the 5th rank you will have to choose between the Author (A) branch and the Journalist (B) branch.
The Author branch is easier to complete although it gives you a terrible income which is 5580 Simoleons per week (for 2 working days per week and 6 working hours per day). Thankfully you can increase this income by writing new books. Being the Journalist requires more effort since you additionally have to learn Charisma and you have to make interviews with people and the income is still not that high - only 6888 Simoleons per week (with 6 working hours per day 4 working days per week). Both branches are unprofitable and the only way to receive a decent income is to write a lot of books what will provide you a decent royalties (even 1000-2000 Simoleons per day).
Your daily task is to read some books. Click on a bookshelf and choose the "Read something" option. However the best option is to buy a book which will learn you the Writing skill. This will allow you to complete your daily task and learn at the same time. To reach the second rank in this career you have to write for 3 hours. To do so click on a computer and choose the "Write..." > "Train writing" option. Remember to always go to your work with the Inspired emotion. To do so you should go to the bathroom one hour before work, click on a shower and choose the "Think under the shower" option. After you will become a Blogger (2) your next promotion requires you to learn the 2nd level of Writing. To accomplish this you can continue to train writing or you can read a book learning Writing (volume 1). Your Sim also has to write a book (click on a computer and choose the "Write..." > "Write a book of the specific genre" > "Write a children's book" option which is probably the only option you have unlocked).
When you will be promoted to the Freelance Article Writer (3) position you will receive a very useful gift which is the painting called the Still Life with Apple and Pitcher and Books and Bottles and Flowers!. You should hang it in a room with your computer and turn on the aura which increases your Sim's Inspired emotion. Keep learning Writing using a computer or a book until you will reach the 3rd level. You also have to self-publish your book. Click on a mailbox and choose the "Self-publish..." option and then select a book which you want to publish. Remember to keep Inspiring yourself under the shower before you will go to your work and to keep reading to complete your daily task (you can point at the job evaluation in the career menu to control your task's status).
When you will become an Advice Columnist (4) you have to learn the 4th level of Writing and write 3 books. Learning new levels will unlock new literacy genres in which you can create (a tale, fiction, poetry et cetera) and you should use them. When you will become a Regular Contributor (5) you will also receive a very useful gift which is An Open Book - Framed which you can hang on your wall close to a computer and turn on its Inspiring aura. Now you need to learn the 5th level of Writing and publish 4 books as well. If you wrote 3 books before you only need to write another one and self-publish all of them. Once you will meet the promotion requirements you can choose your further path between the Author (A) branch or the Journalist (B) branch.
If you will choose the A branch you will become a Short Story Writer (6 A). Your daily task is to write new books. You need to keep being Inspired. To be promoted you need to reach the 7th level of Writing what is basically an automatic process since you are spending a lot of time writing. You also need to earn 500 Simoleons on your books. To do so you have to write new books and sell them to a publisher (by clicking on a mailbox) what is a more profitable source of income than the self-publishing. Now you have to wait for a few days for your salary. The more books you will write, the faster you will earn needed amount of Simoleons and these royalties will also be useful on one of the future ranks.
When you will become a Novelist (7 A) you have to learn the 8th level of Writing and to write 5 books (however you shouldn't sell them yet). You will be promoted to a Fan Favorite (8 A). You will receive another gift (the Nom de Plume Quill Pen) which will Inspire your Sim if you will hang it on your wall. You need to learn the 9th level of Writing and earn 2500 Simoleons from your books. Now you should publish these books which you have written not such a long time ago. Write new books and publish them as well. You will earn your royalties every day.
When you will become a Bestselling Author (9 A) you will have to learn the 10th level of Writing. Your second quest is to send a book to the Literary Digest. You can do that through your mailbox and you will have to use a book which you have written but you haven't published it yet. It is the most profitable way of publishing a book. However there is a problem which you cannot skip. To be promoted on the next rank you have to publish this way two books, however the Literary Digest will publish only one of your books per week. It means you have to wait THE ENTIRE WEEK before you will be able to send them another book and then you will finally have a chance of being promoted.
After you will become a Creator of Worlds (10 A) you will receive the Unlocked Door of Perception. You work only two days per week and six hours per day however you earn only 5580 Simoleons. So basically your job is pretty lame however you can earn a lot of money every day if you will spend a lot of extra time writing new books.
If you will choose the B branch you will be promoted to a Page Two Journalist (6 B). Your daily task is to write articles. You still have to be Inspired in work. To be promoted you need to learn the 7th level of Writing and the 2nd level of Charisma (which you can learn using a mirror or by speaking with other Sims and using interactions which have the sunglasses icon). You also have to write 3 articles. To do so your Sim has to meet with other Sims (even if they are some random people met in front of your house). During your friendly conversation you can ask them to let you interview them. Do it with three Sims and return to your home. Click on your computer and choose if you want to write a positive or negative article about a specific Sim. Writing an article doesn't take a lot of time. Remember that if you will write a negative article it will affect your relationship with Sim which your article is about.
As a Front Page Writer (7 B) you have to learn the 8th level of Writing and the 2nd level of Charisma and you have to write another 5 articles. Speak with more Sims and write new articles. The entire process takes a lot of time. You will become an Investigate Journalist (8 B) and you will receive the Where Should I Go? Ball which you can put somewhere in your house and "Observe" it before you will go to work - the Inspired Sim is guaranteed for at least 4 hours. You need to learn the 9th level of Writing and the 4th level of Charisma and you also have to earn 3000 Simoleons with your articles. You need to interview a lot of people and it's fairy monotonous. You also can use an interaction called "Make a biographical interview".
Finally you will become an Editor-in-Chief (9 B) however your work and your actions will not really change. You will receive a new interesting reward which is an Antique Typewriter. Now you can learn the 10th level of Writing and the 5th level of Charisma. You also have to earn 5000 Simoleons with your articles. Unfortunately it still means you have to focus on making interviews.
At the top of this career path you will become a Scribe of History (10 B) and you will receive a Deep Thoughts Bookcase. You have to work 4 days per week 6 hours per day and you earn slightly better than in the A branch (6 888 Simoleons) however becoming a Scribe takes a really, really lot of time so this income is pretty low. However you can still use your Writing skill to write and sell new books.

This is another artistic career which does not provide you a decent income by itself. You need to focus on the Painting skill and both branches require the Inspired emotion. After the sixth rank you have to choose the new branch of your career and your options are the Master of the Real (A) branch and the Patron of the Arts (B) branch.
The A branch is related to a very low income since its only 4920 Simoleons however you have to work only two days per week five hours per day. The rest of your time you can spend creating and selling masterpieces. The B branch requires the Charisma skill as well and it allows you to earn 6560 Simoleons working four days per week five hours per day. Basically you should do during this branch exactly the same thing as during the previous one - make additional paintings to increase your income. For a great big painting you will receive few hundreds Simoleons however the masterpiece can be worth much more - even over one thousand Simoleons. That's why you should remember to judge this career not only by the salaries amounts we listed.
You will begin your career as a Palette Cleaner (1). You need to work with Inspired emotion. To accomplish that take a shower one hour before your work (click on a shower and choose "Take a thoughtful shower" option). Your daily task will be just painting what is actually fairly easy. Your first promotion requirement is to admire three paintings. You can buy them, watch them in the museum or even paint them by yourself. Just click on a painting and select the "Admire" option.
You also need to learn the 2nd level of Painting. Buy an easel and start creating a small classical picture. Once you will finish you can sell it or hang it on your wall.
After you will become an Art Book Collator (2) you will receive a Picture Perfect Art Lighting which you should hang in the room where you paint and turn on its Inspiring aura. You have to keep painting every day for your daily task and learn the 3rd level of Painting. You should also use a computer and explore the internet to research art references. Your Sim has to this two times. You will be promoted to a Hungry Artist (3). You have to paint three pictures each one in different size. Basically you can use every art genre to create small, medium and big pictures. Just click on an easel and paint all three pictures one after another. It will also help you learn the 4th level of Painting which you also need to be promoted.
As a Watercolor Dabbler (4) you have to learn the 5th level of Painting. You will receive a new easel which you should start using instead of the old one since it allows you to paint higher quality paintings. Your second task is to create a great painting. Its quality can be good, excellent or it can be a masterpiece. When you will finish you can just point at it with your mouse to find out what is its quality.
You will become a Canvas Creator (5). You need to learn the 6th level of Painting and also to sell 5 paintings to the art gallery. Paint in whatever genre you want however if you want to save time you can focus on small or medium pictures and then click on them and sell them to the art gallery. You can also sell your older pictures to complete this task but only if they are not framed. The next rank is an Imaginative Imagist (6). You need the 7th level Painting and to paint three high-quality pictures in different sizes. You should start with a small one and if it will turn out to be good start painting in medium size and then the big size. HOWEVER if any of your pictures will turn out to be a masterpiece you should keep it and selling them right now will be a big waste. Also it is good to keep your high-quality paintings since they can be useful later. If you will meet the promotion requirements you will have to choose your career branch between the Master of the Real (A) and the Patron of the Arts (B).
If you will choose the A branch you will become an Artist En Residence (7 A). You will receive a new reward which is an Artist Supply Taboret. From now on your career will be pretty rough. Not only you have to learn the 7th level of Painting but also you have to paint one masterpiece what does not happen too often. You can increase your chances if you will spend your Lifetime Happiness points on the "Creative Visionary" trait (you can read about Lifetime Rewards in the chapter focused on a Sim's life). You can also increase your chances by reaching the highest level of Painting. It may take you few tries to succeed.
After you will be promoted to a Professional Painter (8 A) you will have to learn the 9th level of Painting. You will also receive a Deluxe All-Season Easel which you can use to create a higher quality paintings. You also have to create six excellent paintings, one for each genre: classical, abstract, impressionistic, pop art, realistic and surreal. Focus on small-sized paintings if you want to save your time. Remember to check if you really made an excellent paintings. If not, just try again until you will succeed.
After you will become an Illustrious Illustrator (9 A) you will have your most difficult task right ahead. You have to learn the 10th level of Painting what you will accomplish if you will just focus on creating new paintings. You also have to create and sell three masterpieces. Just try as many times as you have to. If you will create a masterpiece you will be informed by an information square in the upper right screen corner.
Remember that you still can help yourself by buying a Lifetime Reward which is a new trait named Creative Visionary (its cost is 2000 Lifetime Happiness points).
Your third task is to talk about art with a group of Sims. You have to use your interaction options smartly. You need to face at least two Sims at the same time. It's a lot easier if you have a family. You can also speak with your friends or with some random Sims you can meet on a street or in some public place such as a nightclub. During your group-conversation choose the "Describe Aesthetics" option from the "Friendly" category.
Finally you will be promoted to a Master of the Real (10 A) position and you will receive a not-so-attractive Flegel Studio Floor Lamp. You will earn 4920 Simoleons working 2 days per week 5 hours per day what is a very low amount. You can use your spare time to create new paintings. For creating big-sized excellent paintings you will receive a few hundreds Simoleons and for masterpieces you will receive over 1000 Simoleons. Considering that you can create 1-3 paintings per day you can receive even 9000 - 14000 Simoleons per week.
If you will choose the second branch you will become a Color Theory Critic (7 B). You will receive an Artiste Supply Taboret which increases the Sim's Inspiration if you will put it in front of an easel and turn on its aura. Learn the 8th level of Painting and admire 10 different work of arts which are paintings or sculptures. You probably don't have so many of them in your house. If so, the easiest way is to go to the Museum. Click on every piece of art and choose the "Admire" option. Admiring art will also become your new daily task. You should admire two or three different paintings every day to complete this task.
The last promotion requirement is to speak with 2 Sims about the color theory. It's super easy if you have additional two members of your family. If you don't you can invite your friends or meet two people on a street or in a public place. Choose the "Discuss Color Theory" option from the "Friendly" category. You don't have to talk with two people at the same time, you can do it simultaneously instead.
You will become a Fine-Art Aficionado (8 B) and you will receive an Pre-Owned Painter's Easel as a gift. You should use it from now on instead of your old easel. You have to keep painting. Learn the 9th level of Painting and (what is more difficult) paint one masterpiece. However masterpieces happen quite rare. You can increase your chances if you will spend your Lifetime Happiness points on the "Creative Visionary" trait (you can read about Lifetime Rewards in the chapter focused on a Sim's life). You can also increase your chances by reaching the highest level of Painting. It may take you few tries to succeed. Your third task is to describe aesthetics to three other Sims. It's easy if you will speak with your friends and you will just choose the "Describe Aesthetics" option from the "Friendly" category.
You will become a Composition Curator (9 B) and to be promoted to the last rank you have to complete three tasks. Learn the 10th level of Painting and the 3rd level of Charisma (the easiest way to do it is to practice speeches in front of a mirror) and (what is the most difficult task) you have to own 10 masterpieces in your house. That's why you could read before that selling masterpieces is not recommendable. You have to keep painting in different shapes and genres in hope that your Sim will create a masterpiece. You will be informed about creating a masterpiece by a box in the right upper corner. Remember that you still can help yourself by buying a Lifetime Reward which is a new trait named Creative Visionary (its cost is 2000 Lifetime Happiness points).
The top of your career will be the Patron of the Arts (10 B) position. You will work for four days per week five hours per day and basically you will receive a higher main salary than at the first branch - 6560 Simoleons. Your income is very low however you can earn more by selling your own paintings to at least double that value.

It's a very interesting and also a very challenging career. You will have to learn a few skills at the same time especially Fitness, Charisma and Programming and the second branch also requires the Mischief. At first you will need to work with the Confident emotion. The first branch will require to keep being Confident however the second branch will require the Focused emotion instead. You will choose your branch after the 7th rank of this career. You will choose between the Diamond Agent (A) branch and the Villain (B) branch. The Villain's path is exceptional since the top position of this career will be achieved on the 11th rank instead of the 10th rank (unlike every other career).
This career is very attractive and profitable. The main problem is that you have to make a lot of friends on the first branch however there is no need for you to learn a 10th level of any specific skill (the top skill level will be exactly 8). The B branch however requires you to learn the 10th level of Mischief. The salary in both branches are very high. As a Diamond Agent (A) you will earn 12780 Simoleons (while working only for 3 days per week however for 15 hours per day) and as a Villain (B) you will earn 12875 Simoleons (on the 11th level you will work 5 days per week 5 hours per day).
You are going to start as an Agency Clerk (1). Your daily task is to browse the intelligence database on a computer. It is also your first promotion requirement which you will complete if you will spend two hours doing it. Remember that it is your daily task and you should keep doing it in your free time. You also need to be Confident. It is very easy since you only need to click on a Mirror and choose the "Psych Self" option and then click on a sink to choose the "Wash Teeth" option.
When you will be promoted to the Intelligence Researcher (2) position you will be rewarded with a Swiveler which increases your Confident emotion. Put it in front of your desk and turn on its aura. Now you need to develop the Programming skill. Click on a computer and choose the "Learn programming" option what will complete this task very fast. Remember to keep going to work with the Confident emotion.
When you will become an Agent Handler (3) you will have to learn the 2nd level of Charisma ("Train speeches" with a mirror). Your second task is to make three friends. It's easier if you already have some friends or family. If you live alone just go to a public place or even on a street and meet some random Sims using options from both "Friendly" and "Funny" categories.
You will be promoted to the Field Agent (4) position. You have to learn the 3rd level of Fitness. You can use for example a treadmill. You also need to browse intelligence on your computer for two hours. You will become a Lead Detective (5) and you will receive a Reconnaissance Workstation which increases your Sim's Confident emotion. You have to keep learning until you will reach the 5th level of Charisma (use a mirror and interact with other Sims with interactions marked with sunglasses). Your second promotion requirement is to have five friends. Remember to keep calling and meeting with your old friends. Unfortunately it all takes a lot of time. You can save some time using a computer and interacting with a Sim which you want to contact with.
As a Government Agent (6) you need to return to physical training and to learn the 5th level of Fitness. Remember to not deplete your Sim too much. You also need to learn the 3rd level of Programming.
You will become a Secret Agent (7). You need to learn the 5th level of Charisma (with the already described method) and you also have to investigate 3 Sims with a computer. When you will choose the "Investigate" option in the Internet you may choose a Sim which you know. Do it three times in total however remember that you have to wait for a while before you will be able to repeat this action. When you will meet the promotion requirements you will be able to choose between two career branches: the Diamond Agent (A) branch or the Villain (B) branch.
If you will choose the A branch you will become a Spy Captain (8 A). Your daily task is to be involved into romantic interactions. The easiest way to do that is to live with a partner or a spouse. You will be able to complete this task just by flirting with your other half. You can also flirt with other Sims. Keep having the Confident emotion during your working hours. You need to learn the 7th level of Fitness and the 7th level of Charisma (you already know how to accomplish that).
You will be promoted to the Shadow Agent (9 A) position. You need to meet three promotion requirements. First two are learning the 8th level of Fitness and the 8th level of Charisma what is not really problematic however it takes a lot of time. Your third task is to have 8 friends. Meet other Sims, invite them to your house, go to a bar and so on. Develop your friendly relationships with interactions from both "Friendly" and "Funny" categories. Don't invite and neither call anyone during night hours however you can still interact by using a computer. This task is very difficult and takes a huge amount of time. Remember that your friends can sometimes stop being so friendly so you should keep contacting them to be sure that you are still close with them.
You will be promoted to the Double Diamond Agent (10 A) position. You work only 3 days per week however it's also related with working 15 hours per day. Still your salary is huge (12780 Simoleons). During this career don't be afraid of the amount of friends which you have to make to be promoted. Even though you have to learn two skills (Fitness and Charisma) you only need to develop them to the 8th level instead of the highest level possible.
If you will choose the B branch you will become a Moon Mercenary (8 B) and you will have to start going to work with the Focused emotion. The best tool to accomplish that is to use a chessboard one hour before your work. Your daily task is to participate in mean interactions. Use these interactions against some random Sims from a street. It also helps you to learn Mischief which you need to develop to the 5th level. You also need to learn the 8th level of Fitness.
When you will be promoted to the [Redacted] (9 B) position you will have to learn the 4th level of Programming (use the "Learn programming" option on a computer). You also have to learn the 8th level of Mischief and you have to have two enemies. Keep using your mean interactions until you will be able to consider two other Sims your enemies (you can only do that if you will insult someone few times).
When you will be promoted to the Supreme Villain (10 B) position you will unlock an opportunity to be promoted one more time. You need to learn the 10th level of Mischief and the 6th level of Programming. You also have to expose three supervillains what is surprisingly easy since it is just another option from your mean interactions category. When you will be promoted to the top (11th) rank you will earn 12875 Simoleons for 5 days of work per week and 5 hours of work per day.

$/H - the salary for an hour (in Simoleons);
H - an amount of hours per working day;
D - an amount of working days per week;
W - a sum of working hours per week;
$/W - a total salary per week;
PR - promotion requirements which you have to meet to be promoted to a higher position (sk. = a skill. The number in a parenthesis shows the level of a skill which you have to reach);
Reward - a reward for being promoted to a higher position (in Simoleons).
This career will split on two branches very fast since it will happen right after the fourth level. The first branch is the Musician (A) and the second branch is the Comedian (B). At first you have to go to work with the Inspired emotion however the B branch requires the Playful emotion instead. You will earn rather low income considering the amount of effort you have to put into the Comedian (B) branch however it is the easier one so as the result it provides you a 1000 Simoleons less than an A branch.
The Musician (A) branch provides you 9520 Simoleons (while working 4 days per week 7 hours per day) what is fairly good. The Comedian (B) branch will allow you to earn 8532 Simoleons (3 days per week 6 hours per day).
At first you are an Amateur Entertainer (1). Your daily task is to write jokes or to practice playing an instrument. You should decide right now if you prefer to become a musician or a comedian. Your choice will allow you to decide what daily task complete as well. You should go to work with the Inspired emotion (the easiest way to accomplish that is to "Take a thoughtful shower" right before you will go to work). Your first promotion requirement is to learn the 2nd level of Charisma and the easiest way to do so is to "Practice speeches" with a mirror. After you will be promoted to an Open Mic Seeker (2) you will have to meet four friends. This task will be easier if you have any family which you can consider your friends as well. To meet new Sims you can speak to people on a street or in public places. Choose interactions from both "Friendly" and "Funny" categories. Remember to keep your old friendships active by calling to your friends or inviting them to you.
As a C-Lister (3) you have to learn the 3rd level of Guitar OR Comedy. After you will be promoted to the 5th rank you will have to choose which skill will you focus on so it's better to make this decision right now. Learning these skills will also help you complete your daily task.
As an Opening Act (4) you have to learn the 3rd level of Charisma. You also have to earn 100 Simoleons in tips from telling comedy routines or playing an instrument. To tell a sketch you have to write it first on a computer ("Comedy" > "Write a short sketch"). If you want to use instruments instead you can just play some music tracks. If you have family your task is really easy since your family members can just give you a tip while you are playing. You can also go to a public place and play there or use a microphone to tell a sketch. A good decision will be for example going to a park with a bought microphone or a guitar and to perform there in hope that some Sim will tip you. After you will meet promotion requirements you will be able to choose between the Musician (A) branch and the Comedian (B) branch.
If you will choose the Musician (A) branch you will become a Jingle Jammer (5 A). You have to keep working with the Inspired emotion and your daily task will be playing an instrument. You have to learn the 3rd level of Piano (use the "Practice" option on a piano) Also you have to write and sell 5 jingles which you can compose on any instrument by selecting the "Write a jingle" option. The piano has to be your main instrument however you need to choose which instrument will be your secondary specialization. You need to learn the 4th level of Guitar or Violin. Whatever will you choose try to keep practicing on this instrument during the rest of your career. As a Serious Musician (6 A) you have to keep learning Piano (to the 4th level) and the second instrument: Guitar or Violin (to the 5th level). You also need to have 7 friends. You should have 4 of them already.
As a Professional Pianist (7 A) you need to learn the 5th level of Piano and to play this instrument for 10 hours what is really easy. As a Symphonic String Player (8 A) you need to learn the 6th level of Piano and (in spite of this position's name) the 6th level of Violin OR Guitar.
The most difficult part is to have 10 friends. Talk with people from streets and public places and remember to keep inviting your old friends as well as calling them and using a computer to keep your relationships alive.
As an Instrumental Wonder (9 A) you need to learn the 8th level of Piano and the 7th level of Guitar or Violin. You also have to compose a song. To compose you need the 8th level of Piano first (once you will learn it this option will be unlocked). You will become a Concert Virtuoso (10 A) and you will work 4 days per week and 7 hours per day what is fairly decent however it took a lot of time to make so many friends and to learn your musical skills.
If you will choose the Comedian (B) branch you will become a Jokesmith (5 B). You will receive an I Otter Be a Star Pop Art gift which will help you keep a Playful emotion which you will need from now on. Your daily task is to write and / or perform comedy routines. To be promoted you have to learn the 5th level of Comedy and the easiest way to do so is to practice with a Microphone or to write new comedy routines on a computer. You also have to write a new sketch on a computer (short, medium or long if your Comedy level is high enough). The last thing you need to complete is to try out your material on three Sims (choose "Try out material" option from the "Funny" category).
As a Solid Storyteller (6 B) you have to learn the 7th level of Comedy what will happen automatically when you will perform and write comedy routines. When you will finish writing few comedy routines you can go for example to a park, set up a microphone and start "Performing comedy routines". Sims which will stay to listen to you should reward you with their tips.
You will become a Rising Comedian (7 B). You need to learn the 8th level of Comedy and you have to learn the 4th level of Charisma for example in front of a mirror. You also have to use a computer to "Refine a comedy routine" from the "Comedy" category.
As a Roast Master (8 B) you have to learn the 9th level of Comedy and the 5th level of Charisma. You also have to write a comedy book on a computer (choose the "Write" > "Write in a genre" > "Comedy book" option). If this option is unavailable you have to first learn Writing by clicking on a computer and choosing the "Learn writing" option.
As a Stand Up Star (9 B) you are close to the top. Now you need the 10th level of Comedy and you have to learn the 6th level of Charisma. The last promotion requirement is to perform two long comedy routines. If you don't have a long sketch already written you need to write it on a computer. After you will finish writing you need to click on a microphone and select the "Perform a comedy routine" option (choose a long routine). You have to perform it twice. After you will be promoted you will become a Show Stopper (10 B). You will work 3 days per week 6 hours per day and you will receive 8532 Simoleons. It's a thousand less than in the A branch however it's a lot easier to get to this rank.

This career is fairly interesting and useful. You have to choose between two branches: the Chef (A) and the Mixologist (B) which are completely different considering both their difficulty and the earnings. During the entire career you should go to work with the Inspired emotion. The Chef (A) branch is a lot easier and at the same time a lot more profitable not to mention that it requires you to focus on skills which are very useful and you will use them daily: Cooking and Gourmet Cooking. As the Mixologist (B) you will not rely on these abilities so much and you will focus on the Mixologist skill instead. The biggest challenge during this path is to make 12 friends.
Your income as a Chef (A) considering how easy this career is will be really, really good. You will earn 9840 Simoleons (working 4 days per week 6 hours per day). The Mixologist (B) branch is much worse. Not only it's really difficult but it also provides you a very low income which is 5910 Simoleons (working 3 days per week 10 hours per day).
You will Begin as an Assistant Dishwasher (1). Your promotion requirement is as easy as it can get. You have to clean your dishes 3 times (after a finished dinner click on a plate and choose the "Clean up" option). Your daily task will be cooking. To complete this task you will have to make like a 5-6 dishes every day. Click on a refrigerator and choose the "Cook" option then any meal which is available. You should "Take a thoughtful shower" an hour before your work to be sure that you have the Inspired emotion.
You will become a Head Dishwasher (2) and you will have to learn the Mixologist skill. To do so you have to buy a bar (in a building mode in a Living Room menu) click on it and choose "Make a drink" option and then select any drink that is available (you can also learn this skill from a book). Remember to complete your daily task which is cooking.
You will be promoted to the Caterer (3) position and you will have to learn the 2nd level of Cooking (although you almost surely already did accomplish that since you are cooking a lot every day). Additionally you have to prepare an excellent grilled cheese. Click on a refrigerator, choose the "Cook" option and select a grilled cheese. If you want to check the quality of your meal you can just point it with your mouse (the same way you can use to check the painting's or drink's quality). If it won't be excellent just try as many times as you have to.
You will become a Mixologist (4) and you will have to learn the 3rd level of Cooking (just keep cooking and if your food will spoil simply throw it away) and the 3rd level of Mixologist by making new drinks. After you will be promoted to a Line Cook (5) you have to develop these skills to level 4. Once you will meet these promotion requirements you will have to choose between two career branches. The first branch is the Chef (A) and the second one is the Mixologist (B).
If you will choose the Chef (A) branch you will become a Head Caterer (6 A). You will receive a Positronic Pro Magnetic Knife Rack which will help you to become Inspired. Keep cooking to complete your daily task and to learn the 6th level of Cooking. You also need to have 5 friends. The way to accomplish that is described in both the Secret Agent and Entertainment career descriptions. You will become a Pastry Chef (7 A). Click on a refrigerator and choose the "Cook a gourmet dish" option and select any option you want. You have to make five excellent meals this way (check their quality by pointing at a meal with your mouse). Try as long as you need and learn the 3rd level of Gourmet Cooking as well.
The next promotion will make you a Sous Chef (8 A). You have to learn the 8th level of Cooking and the 5th level of Gourmet Cooking (obviously by cooking more meals and gourmet meals). You also have to cook 6 unique meals. Just click on a refrigerator and select 6 unique meals one after another to complete this task.
You will become an Executive Chef (9 A) and you will have to learn the 7th level of Gourmet Cooking. You also have to learn the 3rd level of Charisma by "Practice speeches" in front of a mirror. Finally you need to click on a computer and choose the "Write" option and then select the "Cookbook" option. Writing will take you some time. The top of this career is a Celebrity Chef (10 A) position which will also provide you a great income which is 9840 Simoleons for 4 working days per week and 6 working hours per day. You will also receive few culinary gifts.
If you will choose the Mixologist (B) branch you have to remember that you will have a terrible income and you will have a challenging way to the top. Your daily task is making drinks. You will become a Head Mixologist (6 B). Keep making drinks to complete your daily task and to learn the 5th level of Mixologist as well. You also need to have 5 friends. You can read how to do that in the description of the Secret Agent or the Entertainment careers.
You will become a Juice Boss (7 B). You have to learn the 7th level of Mixologist and to make five excellent drinks as well (check their quality by pointing at them just as you checked the dish quality). Try as long as you have to.
As a Chief Drink Operator (8 B) you will receive a Vinoteca Bottle Rack which helps you to stay Inspired. Hang it on a wall and turn on its aura. You also have to learn the 8th level of Mixologist and the 5th level of Charisma (by using a mirror). Now you have a very difficult task to complete since you need to have 12 friends. Remember to keep your relationships with your older friends by calling to them, writing through a computer or meeting them from time to time. You can read about it for example in the Secret Agent career description or in the Entertainment career description.
You will become a Drinkmaster (9 B) and you will receive an Inspiring Lemonade on a Sunny Day Torchiere. You have to learn the 10th level of Mixologist and the 7th level of Charisma. Your last task is to write a book. Click on a computer and choose the "Write" > " Bar Guide" option and your Sim will take some time to finish it. If you will consider how long it took to become a Celebrity Mixologist (10 B) and how much effort it took and also how low your income is (5910 Simoleons while working 3 days per week 10 hours per day) you will notice that the Chef (A) branch is way more profitable.

Legend:
$/H - the salary for an hour (in Simoleons);
H - an amount of hours per working day;
D - an amount of working days per week;
W - a sum of working hours per week;
$/W - a total salary per week;
PR - promotion requirements which you have to meet to be promoted to a higher position (sk. = a skill. The number in a parenthesis shows the level of a skill which you have to reach);
Reward - a reward for being promoted to a higher position (in Simoleons).
After you meet another Sim and make an acquaintance with him, the menu some of the available interactions opens. You can talk, flirt, jest, make jokes or even the less pleasant things. Still, in the first menu, you have access to the most current interactions, i.e. the ones that have just appeared or are the result of the current Sim's mood.
It is a good idea not to be restricted only to the ones that you can see in the first menu. You can click on the top to see all of the available interactions.
They have been divided into five categories: friendly, romantic (does not occur in the case of some relations, e.g. parent- child), funny, mean and mischievous. After you click on each one of them, you have access to the available options. Remember that what your Sim can do and say, towards the other Sim, depends on the status of their relation. It is represented by the bar displayed on top during the conversation between Sims. Green bar represents friendly relations- the longer it is, the better the relation and the Sims become friends or even good friends. Pink bar represents romantic relations - the better they are, the more additional interactions are available to you, which includes asking for being a couple or proposal. There also are negative ones that are represented by a red bar, when the Sims dislike each other or are enemies.
Using the phone, you can invite the other Sims over or go to the locations in the city. While trying to make friends, use funny and friendly interactions in turns. Also, it is a good thing to get to know the Sim, i.e. to learn about their traits(the friendly "learn" interaction) - this is important especially if you are looking for a steady partner that could move in with you (you gain control over them then). Also, it is a good idea to learn if they are in a relationship at the moment. Friendship may lead to tightening bonds and becoming good friends.
Once you tighten the romantic relations enough, interesting interactions become available, such as "WooHoo" or the possibility to get married. If you want to get married with another Sim, select the "Ask to date" and if the other Sim agrees, you become a couple.
Tightening the relationship, of course, gives you the access to the more spicy interactions, such as kisses or "WooHoo" that may take place in bed, but also in the rocket, observatory or some other places.
The next step is to "propose an engagement" or "Ask to move in". In the case of the engagement, you can throw a party (select "plan wedding") or get married here and now.
The way to organize parties has been described in another chapter. After the wedding, you will see a window that suggests that you set the rules for the move.
After the wedding, or the decision to live together, it is time to move. When you are starting the game, this does not lead to any major complications - you decide to move over the partner/spouse to your house or...move to theirs.
However, if you do not live alone, like the partner, things may get a little bit complicated and there are many possibilities, including moving in, e.g. with your parents and siblings, into the house that the partner occupies with theirs. Remember that, after the merger of families, you will be able to control all of these Sims. Also, you can move your partner in and leave their entire family in theirs.
After you move in, as a result of the decision to move in together or marry, you also take control over your Sim's partner and from now on, you control two Sims. It is worth noting that, if you decide only to move in together, without getting married, engagement can take place at an moment, after which you can organize the wedding.
If you want to go family way, you can do that in two ways: try for your own, or adopt one.
To try for a baby, click a double bed and select "Try for a baby". It is not a method of 100% effectiveness. Therefore it is a good idea to repeat that several times.
To adopt a child, click the computer and select "Family", and then "Adopt". You will then see the children that you can take from the orphanage. As you can see, the children are in their Toddler or Child age - pick one. The adoption procedure costs 1 000 Simoleons.
Then the Sim goes to the orphanage for the baby. After the return, you will be able to change the name of the child. Immediately, they become a member of the family.
After the "Try for a baby" interaction, you need to make sure that the Sim woman is pregnant. To do that, click the toilet and select "Do the pregnancy test". If, in the upper right corner, there appears information about pregnancy, I congratulate you on your success. If not, keep trying.
The duration of the pregnancy is 3 days - each day is another trimester, At first, the Sim woman feels uncomfortable, due to her morning nausea. Later on, the negative effects wear off and the fact of being pregnant gives her positive moodlets. The father of the baby may interact with it while it is in the belly, e.g. check out on whether the baby is kicking. A very important piece of information is that there is no doctorial leave or maternal leave available - the Sim must go to work so, it is a good idea to quit the job.
When the birth time comes, you can click the Sim and select "Give birth to the baby at the hospital", or wait for the baby to appear in the cradle. If the Sim goes to the hospital, after some time she returns with a baby. Right after the birth, you need to select the name and the surname for the baby.
This stage in life has been represented very symbolically and it is short. The activities connected with the baby are restricted to feeding (or breast feeding), swaying, hugging, changing and several other interactions. Of course, you do not have any control over the baby. You can end this stage really quickly - you only need to click on the tot and select "Olden".
Then, they jump out of the carriage and turns into a Child. You then need to select a new aspiration for them, as well as a trait.
In the case of aspirations, you are restricted to four, in the case of children: Social Butterfly , Artistic Prodigy, Whil Kid and Rambunctious Scamp. This selection is very important. You select one trait, but it is going to remain active until the death. Pick wisely (more about this has been included in the chapter entitled Sim's Life> Personality).
Sims in their childhood can be fully controlled. They can learn several basic, general skills: creative, motor, social and mental. Social skills are learned through conversations with the other Sims, or by talking to toys.
The easiest way to learn Mental Skills is to play chess. You can also buy a special toy - the "Young Wizard" set. You can learn Creative Skills buy buying a playing table, children's viola or some other toys, like e.g. a robot.
You can develop Motor Skills in two ways: a much cheaper method is to play on ladders, and the other one is the expensive playing house.
The key issue for the child is a jest to go to school (information about this can be found in the panel, in the Sim career tab [J]). This includes doing homework every day. You can always find it in the Sim's inventory - click it and select "Do homework". Classes take place from Monday to Friday, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m..
At first, the child is a B grade student. To get better marks, you need to: go to school while energized (take a quick shower before going to school) and learn two selected skills, up to level 4. Apart from that, if you go to school with your homework done, for several days, your child becomes an A grade student.
To become an A+ student, you need to do two things: learn four skills, up to level 4 and do an additional assignment for three times. After you do your daily homework, click the homework and select "Do an additional assignment".
It should be pointed out that, when the Sim is at school (this also goes for the workplace), after you click the icon above his head, on bottom the panel, you can control his actions. By default, this has been set to studying. But you can also select: "Learn diligently" (which raises the Sim's grades, but lowers the satisfaction of the need to play and may lead to stressing out) , "loaf about" (lowers the grades but increases the satisfaction of the need to play - useful if the Sim is stressed out), "Leave School early" (the Sim leaves school before classes end, which lowers the grades), "Make friends" (which lowers the assessment of work done, but lowers the need for socializing).
When the time comes, the child grows up and they then become a teen. You can then throw a birthday party (it has been described in another chapter how to do that). However, the most important matter is to pick a new - adult - aspiration, and to pick another trait. Children only have one trait but, as soon as they become a teen, they additionally receive two traits: you select the first one manually, from the full list of traits, whereas the other one is added as a bonus trait and which one it is, is determined by the selected aspiration (To learn how to do that, see the chapter entitled Sim's life > Personality)
Teens are almost adults - they can learn all the skills restricted to adults, perform the majority of interactions, flirting included. Apart from that, a teen attends high school. Also here, he does the homework and - if necessary - does additional assignments. Classes take place from Monday to Friday, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
A teen Sim can also take up a part-time job. You only need to use the phone or the computer for that. Unfortunately, the jobs are not too rewarding and it is much better to focus on developing those of the skills that will come useful in adult life. (select the skills that you develop according to the professional career that you are planning on). If you decide to take up a part-time job, you can go for the following ones: fast food restaurant employee, physical worker, shop employee, babysitter, barista. Some of these jobs are done only on weekends and some during the weekdays, e.g. before or after school.
During your daily visits to the high school you can receive information about various events, when you need to decide what your Sim is supposed to do. Often, there is no saying which choice is better - if you select the less advantageous one, this may have a negative effect on the teen's grade at school.
After you turn from a teen to a young adult, you select the last trait. Now, you have the life of a young adult and an adult Sim ahead of you. You can use all the options provided by the game. All of that, until you go senior and the Sim dies.
Once you are through being a young adult and an adult, you will be able to have kids, achieve professional success or even fulfill your aspiration. After that, you turn into a senior. This includes certain limitations. The Sim cannot have children then. A very important piece of information - there is no retirement - the Sim can work until the death (and add to the family budget). You need to remember that seniors tend to be uncomfortable more often, e.g. due to strain.
In the Simiology panel ([Y]) you can view how long your Sim has lived, so far. When the green bar that indicates the last stage in his life, reaches the end, the only thing left for him to do is die.
When the Sim has lived his life out, and his time comes, he is visited by the Grim Reaper. As another Sim, you can beg for that Sim's life . When the Reaper claims the Sim, he leaves the urn (if they died indoors) or a tomb (if they died outdoors).
However, A Sim may also die prematurely, for various reasons. The death may result from, e.g. fire; starvation; electrocution; crashing of the rocket while landing; one of the Sim's moods: hysterical (if too playful), angry (if too angry) or embarrassed (if embarrassed too much). An important piece of information: the Sim's death, caused by these, occurs much more rarely than in the previous installments.
The tomb outdoors, or the urn indoors may be made into a commemorative place. Remember that grieving for the deceased Sim makes the other Sims sad.
At the Oasis Springs and in Willow Creek, there are several places to go, to e.g. have fun or to learn. T travel around, click the phone and select "Travel..." to travel alone) or "Travel with..." (to travel with another Sim). You can also select "Ask Out..." - in this, case, you will go on a date with another Sim into the selected location. To travel, you can also press [M].
Then, you need to select one of the locations available in two areas (Oasis Springs and in Willow Creek). The majority of these locations are housing plots - empty and available to be bought, or taken up (you can visit someone here). In both areas, there are 5 locations that go as public places. Note: in each location, there is a bathroom with a toilet and sink (and in the case of the gym, there also is a shower).
At the Willow Creek these are: park, the library, gym, the night club and a museum.
W Oasis Springs these are a park, a bar, a gym , a lounge and a museum. Additionally, near these places, there are recreational sites, including a playhouse, grill and an angling site.
It is a good idea to come here if you want to read books, but you do not want to buy them - there also are lots of bookshelves. The Sim may also use the computer here. At the ground floor, there is a bathroom.
It is a well equipped place. At the ground floor, there are three punching bags, three treadmills and five weight machines. At the upper floor, there are bathrooms and showers, and couches, where you can rest.
The nightclub is quite poorly furnished. The main place here is the counter, where you can order beverages and snacks. Apart from that, there also is a room with a piano, tables and a fireplace. At the upper floor, there are bathrooms - and that's it.
There are lots of works of art here - mainly paintings (also at the upper floor). On the terrace, there is a piano and, quite unexpectedly, a bar, where you can mix a drink for yourself. At the bottom floor, there also are two bathrooms, and a quite big garden with tables outside. It is a good place to organize a party in.
You can perform many activities at the park. There are ladders and playhouses for children here. Apart from that, there also is a grill here, with tables, chessboards and spots to angle, at the lake. Of course, also toilets are here, at both sides of the location.
This place has really a lot to offer. Apart from bar there also are tables with chairs, couches where you can rest, a TV, a record machine, a coffee express and a tee percolator here. At the back, there are bathrooms.
This gym is a bit better equipped than the one at Willow Creek. In here, there are four punching bags, four treadmills and as many as ten weight machines. Apart from that, there are couches, where you can rest, loudspeakers with music playing and TV sets. There also are bathrooms with showers here.
This place is at the upper floor of the building. Apart from the bar there are couches and tables with chairs here, and the loudspeakers play music. You can use as many as four toilets.
This is a three-storey building. At the ground floor, there is a bar, toilets and several sculptures. At the upper floor, you can see several sculptures and paintings.
In this park there is a detached building, where there is a bar, couches, a fireplace and bookshelves.
There also are two angling spots here: a small lake and a pond. Apart from that, there are grills here, with tables, chessboards, a playhouse and a ladder for children.
A very dangerous thing may be a cook-Sim who may cause fire.
Already at the stage of decorating the kitchen, buy two things: a smoke alarm, which you should place above the oven and a Fire System Control Panel.
When the fire breaks out, if you do not want to risk your Sim dying, and the house has been fitted with proper systems, walk away from fire in the first place. The risk of catching on fire (use the option to "put out" then) and dying, is low. It is a good idea to try to put out the fire on your own, to prevent it from spreading, which would cause further damage.
A moment after the alarm goes off, a water sprinkler appears above the site of the fire, which extinguishes the fire. For the destroyed furniture, you will receive some damages, from your insurance, but it is not enough to cover all the losses. To replace the burned appliances, you simply need to click them and select "Replace", and for a payment you will receive some new ones. The Sim that caught on fire which was put out, will be covered in soot so, you need to give him a bath and a change of clothes.
Every week, you will be receiving bills for the house's upkeep, to your mailbox. The amount to pay depends, of course, on the size of the house and the appliances. You can pay the bills in three ways: by clicking the mailbox, by clicking the phone and selecting "Pay the bills", or by clicking the computer and selecting " Pay the bills ".
Do not neglect this. If you do not pay within 48 hours, power supply will be cut off - you will not be able to use the computer, TV and many others. If you do not pay within the next 48 hours, water will be cut out also: you will be unable to take bath, to wash the dishes, etc. Therefore, paying the bills is a sad necessity.
A thing that is important in the life of the Sim are social events. It is a good idea to organize some of them, e.g. the wedding or the birthday party. Others, such as e.g. a ceremonial dinner can be organized whenever you feel like to. Remember that organizing a party costs between 100 and 1 000 Simoleons. To organize a party, click the phone and select "Plan a social event". After that, from the list of the available ones, select the one that you are interested in. The available ones are: black and white party, "Incognito" costume ball, Apartment Party, ceremonial dinner, wedding party and birthday party.
In the next window, specify the host, the celebrating person or the newlyweds. Then, pick your guests - you need to select, at least, 2 Sims. However, you can make things easier by selecting one of the house mates as the person to celebrate/host and pick two remaining ones as the guests - it is easier to succeed at organizing the party then, because you can control all of the Sims that participate the party. Apart from inviting your guests, you can also hire the cook, mixiologist or the master of ceremonies.
The final stage is to select the place. You can organize some of the parties in several available locations, whereas other can be organized only in one location, e.g. the house. Remember that, all in all, a party organized at home is more likely to be successful.
During the party, time until the end of the event, as well as all the requirements for a successful party, are displayed in the upper corner. The requirements may vary, from one type of a party to another. Often they are connected with preparation of a specific dish (e.g. the dessert or the dinner), a drink, playing on a specific instrument (piano or the guitar), doing something together (listening to music, dancing), with performing specific interactions or with getting the Sims there the specific mood (flirty, happy). Because of that - if you want to achieve all of that on your own,, including the kitchen the bar - it is best to have developed skills, such as cooking, mixiology, guitar or piano at, at least level 3-4. To dance, you need your own stereo system (the one available in the buying mode, in the salon tab). If you want to set a specific mood, you can use potions, but you do not need to. to make them cheerful, use a comedy channel on TV, to make them flirtatious, flirt around with them, etc.
For the party that you organize, you can receive bronze, silver or gold. Achieving gold comes with a reward, which appears in the family equipment (in the building/decorating mode). each of the party types has a goal to it, which you need to fulfill for it to be successful -the goals have been described below.
The cost of this party is quite high and it amounts to 500 Simoleons. The main aim of this type of party, which you can organize either at home or in a museum, is to talk about black and white things (at least, 10 such interactions). Here, you can use several friendly interactions, such as: "Talk about Zebras", "Joke about penguins" or "Compliment on the choice of colors". An important element is to bake a black and white cake.
The "Incognito" costume ball costs 250 Simoleons, and you can organize it in a bar, night club or in the lounge. The main aim of this kind of party is to talk about pieces of clothing (at least, 10 times the "Compliment on the costume" interaction). As always, one of the requirements may be the drinks, but also dishes. So, if you are throwing the party at one of the clubs you need to access the building mode and buy an oven, a fridge and a tabletop, to be able to prepare food. Bars are available in all the locations that his party can be held in.
An apartment party is 100 Simoleons and it can only be organized at home. Obtaining gold is easiest here. The main aim is to maintain interactions between the hosts and the guests (at least, 12 times). Apart from that, you may have to meet the requirements concerning, e.g. eating something, listening to music, dancing or introducing a cheerful mood, which is easy to achieve with the comedy channel on TV.
The ceremonial dinner is 100 Simoleons. The main goal of this event is to invite the guests to the table. To achieve that, first prepare something to eat then, click on the Sim and select "Invite to the table". Also here, obtaining gold is very easy.
Its cost is 1 000 Simoleons and you can organize it in many locations available in the game (home, both museums, both parks, bar, night club and the lounge), including the house of the spouse. It is very difficult to achieve full success here. The main aim, of course, is to get married but, apart from that, requirements connected with food, drinks, the cake, the wedding cake figurine, flirting, cheering, etc.
It costs 100 Simoleons. The main aim is to blow out the candles on the cake, which you need to prepare beforehand. Among other requirements, there are those connected with drinks, food, playing games together, etc.
You can find job by clicking on the phone and selecting "Find a job" or by selecting the same option while using the computer.
In the pop-up, on the left, you can see the list of the available careers. After you click any, you receive information about that job: the position that you would by working in, hour's pay and workdays (it has been described in the next chapter which career is more profitable). There are two branches to each one of the careers. In each, you can reach, at best, the 10th level. When the time comes, the Sim goes to work automatically - he disappears from your sight, from the plot, and he returns after he has finished working.
When you start a job, you need to care about it and strive for a promotion. To get promoted, you need to go to work every day, well-prepared and with all the needs of the Sim satisfied - this makes the Sim's work assessment rise. You can view this assessment in the Sim's career panel ([J]) on the bar. This panel informs you of the currently occupied position, earnings per hour, working days and working hours.
Another issue, when it comes to getting promoted, are the requirements that you need to meet. They depend on the career that you have chosen and on the currently occupied position. They are displayed below work assessment. Most usually, to get promoted, you need to learn a given skill at the required level. However, there also are other conditions concerned with performing an activity several times, interacting with another Sim several times, etc. Once you are promoted, you receive special note that informs you of the positions that you were promoted to, what the raise is, a onetime bonus (or gifts), on which weekdays you are going to work and what are the working hours.
A very important element is to get prepared for work every day. This concerns two issues: performing certain activities and going to work in the appropriate mood. You can learn information about that after you roll your mouse over the bar that presents work assessment. Make sure that, to the extent this is possible, you perform certain activities determined by your career. In the case of, e.g. the astronaut, this means doing exercises every day, on any training machine and, in the case of the cook's profession, preparing dishes. Also, pay attention to the preferred mood - you can get into that mood by, e.g. taking a shower, playing chess, etc.
When the Sim is at work, you cannot control him directly, but you can influence his behavior. You only need to click the icon above the Sim's head, on the bottom panel, to access the menu of the available behaviors (the availability of these depend on the character and current mood). Choosing "Work Hard" improves work assessment, but may lead to stress. "Make new contacts" satisfies the social need, but lowers work assessment. "Chill out" satisfies the need for playing, but lowers work assessment. There also is leaving work early, available, which also has a negative effect on work assessment and earnings. If the Sim is cheerful, you can try working hard, thanks to which works assessment goes up. However, if you see the Sim is stressed out, let it go and let him chill - there is no need for him to return home tensed.
The Sim may experience unique situations at work. This is where you step in and make a choice, basing on the story that you learn. It is difficult to tell what choice should be made. The obvious ones, which you expect to improve on the Sim's mood often turn out to be the wrong ones. Such choices, usually, have a positive, or negative effect on work assessment.
For successive promotions, apart from a financial bonus, and a raise, you can also be rewarded with items or appliances. They always appear in the family's equipment, in the building/decoration mode. Watch out for information on rewards that appear in the promotion notification window.
Very often when Sim does something it also learns new skills. Every skill has 10 levels. If you want to learn a skill you have to do some easy activity. For example you can learn the first level of Cooking if you will start making a meal or to learn the first level of Handiness you only need to start fixing some home appliances.
In the skill panel you can see every skill learned by your Sim and its current level. The skill which you are learning at the moment will be highlighted.
When you are developing your Sim's skills you can see the learning indicator. Once it will fill Sim will level up what will open for him some new possibilities.
You can also choose using books. It will save you sweat, leaving your house or making some expensive shopping. However you need to buy a book which will develop a specific skill. Click on a bookshelf and choose the "Buy a book..." option. Now choose the skill menu (second from right) and choose the book which is related to the skill that you are interested with. You can level up each skill to level 10, however it takes 3 books for each skill to develop it to its highest possible level. In most cases volume one will give you an access to levels 0 to 3, volume 2 to levels 4 to 6 and volume 3 to levels 7 to 9 (you can't learn level 10 from a book). When you will confirm a purchase a bought book will appear in Sim's equipment.
Now you only need to read it. It is an interesting option since you can read books while doing some other things such as using a bathroom.
The easiest way to learn Charisma is by practicing before mirror by the "Practice Speech" option. This skill is very useful when you interact with other Sims. Charismatic Sim tells better jokes, compliments other Sims (on the 3rd level), elegantly apologizes (4th level), flatters (6th level), charmingly introduces itself (8th level).
If you have Charisma at least on level 7 you can ask a friendly Sim to loan you a small amount of money (500 Simoleons) and from level 9 you can ask for a big loan instead (2000 Simoleons). However even the better option will be unlocked once you will reach level 10 what will allow you to negotiate with your boss about a promotion (you need to do it by using a phone). It allows you to improve your job evaluation and receive a financial bonus.
Cooking is one of the main daily activities and you will develop this skill automatically during your Sim's life every time he makes something to eat. It is a very important skill for a cook's career, although it is not very useful in a common life (unless you want to make various meals). Every time your Sim's Cooking levels up you get access to some new meals. To cook and level up you need to click on refrigerator and choose the "Cook..." option. Now you can choose a meal from the list. It is beneficial to prepare a family dinner or a party meal since you can hide the rest of it in the refrigerator for later (click on a dish and choose the "Put away" option).
At first Sim will prepare its food quite clumsy. When he will level up, his meals' quality will increase and eating will also make him feel better. When you will level up your Cooking to level 5 you will also unlock the Gourmet Cooking skill.
It is a skill related to Cooking. When you will level up your Cooking to level 5 you will unlock the new option named "Cook a Gourmet Meal..." when you will click on a refrigerator. Choose any meal and you will learn this skill.
When you will level up this skill you will also unlock a long list of new, exquisite dishes and a few tricks about making them. When Sim will reach the maximum level it will be able to put a garnish on his food what will increase its quality (if he didn't made a meal which is wonderful already).
It's a minor skill similar to Violin and Piano. Sim can use it as its source of income and entertainment. To learn Guitar you need to buy a guitar and start practicing with it. New levels will let Sim play songs from different genres (blues, rock, country and so on). The 4th level allows Sim to improvise. The 6th level allows Sim to play serenades for other Sims. The 7th level will allow it to put other Sims to sleep.
The 8th level will allow Sim to create its own songs (choose the "Write a song..." option and a genre). It can also license these songs on the level 9th (you need to click on your mailbox). You will receive 200 Simoleons. Later on these salaries may increase two or even three times.
It's a minor skill similar to Guitar and Violin. Sim can use it as its source of income and entertainment. To learn Piano you need to buy a piano and start practicing with it. New levels will let Sim play songs from different genres (romantic, blues, avant-garde and so on). The 4th level allows Sim to play concerts for other Sims (choose the "Play a concert..." option). The 8th level will allow Sim to create his own songs (choose the "Write a song..." option and a genre). It can also license these songs on the 9th level (you need to click on your mailbox). You will receive 200 Simoleons. Later on these salaries may increase two or even three times.
It's a third skill next to Guitar and Piano skills which will help you increase your budget. To learn Violin you need to buy a violin and start practicing with it. New levels will let Sim play songs from different genres. The 4th level allows Sim to play concerts for other Sims. The 6th level allows Sim to play serenades for other Sims. The 7th level allows it to make other Sims cry. The 8th level allows Sim to create its own songs. It can also license these songs on the 9th level (you need to click on your mailbox). You will receive 200 Simoleons - just as for Piano and Guitar.
Playing video games on a good, expensive computer is one of the easiest and quickest ways of fulfilling Sim's needs of entertainment. When Sim plays video games he also levels up his video gaming skill. He unlocks new games with every level and he can also participate in e-sports tournaments, starting as a beginner, and after level 6 as a professional gamer (you need to pay a small entry fee and you can win some Simoleons).
You may learn this skill when you will buy for example a microphone and you will practice telling jokes with it. You can also learn it by using the "Write jokes" option on a computer. This skill is kind of useful when you are talking to other Sims. On higher levels you can use a computer to write sketches (short, medium then long) and practice telling them with a microphone or in front of a mirror. All these things will help you level up this skill.
It's one of the creative skills which may provide you the main income. You may learn the writing skill using a computer (select "Write..." > "Practice writing skill".
