How do you play video games in PS3

I'm not sure I understand the question, but I'll take a swing at it. When you turn on the PS3 you will come to a menu (exactly like the psp). when you put in the game it should automatically start playing the game. I am not sure if there is a setting to make it NOT do it automatically (like the xbox) but if so just press x on the icon play game.
