Dark Souls 2 Weapons and Shield Guide - Halberds and Staves

Part of the Dark Souls 2 huge weapons list is the variety of deadly sticks. They come in two forms: halberds and staves, commonly known as staffs. The halberd moveset is Slash/Thrust, so if this is your play style you’ll want to find the best. The stave moveset is Spell/Strike, so if you like to cast magic while also inflicting some physical damage you will want to know all the staff locations. So scroll on down!

Dark Souls 2 Halberds



Black Knight Halberd –
This halberd location is the Shaded Woods. It can be found under the Shaded Ruins bonfire. Jump through the window with the bridge to land on it. Once on the bridge turn around and the halberd is on the other side. Jump the gap between you and the room to obtain this weapon. Alternatively, it is dropped by the Petrified Dogs at Aldia’s keep. The halberd requirements are 17 Strength and 26 Dexterity. It is capable of dealing 200 Physical damage and 90 Fire damage.

Blue Knight's Halberd – This halberd location is the Cathedral of Blue. It is dropped by Blue Sentinel Targray if you kill him. Alternatively, you will be given the halberd with Targray’s Armor if you reach Rank 3 of the Blue Sentinel covenant. The halberd requirements are 18 Strength and 20 Dexterity. It is capable of dealing 200 Physical damage.

Dragonrider's Halberd – Visit Straid of Olaphis in the Lost Bastille. Trade the Dragonrider Soul + 1500 Souls to obtain this weapon. The halberd requirements are 18 Strength and 17 Dexterity. It is capable of dealing 100 Physical damage and 90 Magic damage.

Halberd – This halberd location is in the Forest of Fallen Giants. It is dropped by Halberd Hollows. Alternatively, it can be bought from Blue Sentinel Targray for 2000 Souls. The halberd requirements are 20 Strength and 14 Dexterity. It is capable of dealing 175 Physical damage.

Helix Halberd – This halberd location is the Shrine of Amana. There is a Pharros’ Lockstone to the left-side of the Crumbled Ruins bonfire. Activating the Lockstone will reveal a chest. Loot the chest to obtain this weapon. The halberd requirements are 16 Strength and 20 Dexterity. It is capable of dealing 186 Physical damage.

Lucerne – Visit Chancellor Wellager in Drangleic Castle. Spend 4800 Souls to obtain this weapon. The halberd requirements are 18 Strength and 14 Dexterity. It is capable of dealing 150 Physical damage.

Mastodon Halberd -  This halberd location is Drangleic Castle. It is dropped by Primal Knights. Alternatively, this halberd is dropped by Rusted Primal Knights in Doors of Pharros. The halberd requirements are 26 Strength and 15 Dexterity. It is capable of dealing 205 Physical damage.

Old Knight Halberd – This halberd is on a corpse on the aqueduct between Heide’s Tower and No-Man’s Wharf. Loot the corpse to obtain this weapon. The halberd requirements are 16 Strength and 20 Dexterity. It is capable of dealing 170 Physical damage.

Old Knight Pike – This halberd location is in Harvest Valley. It is hidden behind a wooden wall. Taunt the Dark Magic Giant to smash down the wall to obtain this weapon. The halberd requirements are 20 Strength and 16 Dexterity. It is capable of dealing 170 Physical damage.

Roaring Halberd – Visit Straid of Olaphis in the Lost Bastille. Trade the Skeleton Lord’s Soul + 1500 Souls to obtain this weapon. The halberd requirements are 16 Strength, 12 Dexterity, 12 Intelligence and 12 Faith. It is capable of dealing 72 Physical damage and 100 Dark damage.

Santier's Spear – This halberd location is in Doors of Pharros. In the main room after the Gyrm’s Respite bonfire there is a door requiring three Lockstones. You only need to insert one Lockstone into the slot under the water to enter the room. You will find it on the bottom floor. The halberd requirements are 20 Strength and 22 Dexterity. It is capable of dealing 133 Physical damage.

Scythe – This halberd location is in the Shaded Woods. It can be found near the Shaded Woods Ruin bonfire. Alternatively, visit Blacksmith Steady Hand McDuff in the Lost Bastille and spend 3500 to obtain this weapon. The halberd requirements are 20 Strength and 11 Dexterity. It is capable of dealing 135 Physical damage.

Syan's Halberd – This halberd location is in Drangleic Castle. It is dropped by gold-armoured knights wielding halberds. The halberd requirements are 20 Strength and 25 Dexterity. It is capable of dealing 165 Physical damage.

Dark Souls 2 Staves



Archdrake Staff – Visit Felkin the Outcast, located between Majula and Huntsman’s Copse. Spend 4000 Souls to obtain this weapon. The stave requirements are 18 Intelligence and 15 Faith. It is capable of dealing 95 Magic damage and 70 Dark damage.

Bat Staff – This stave location is in Brightstone Cove Tseldora. It is dropped by Hollow Mages. The stave requirements are 25 Intelligence. It is capable of dealing 102 Magic damage, 70 Dark damage and 107 Poison damage.

Black Witch's Staff – This stave location is in Undead Crypt. It is dropped by Leydia Witches. The stave requirements are 20 Intelligence and 20 Faith. It is capable of dealing 110 Magic damage, 110 Fire damage, 110 Lightning damage and 110 Dark damage.

Bone Staff – This stave location is the Lost Bastille. A little while after the Cell bonfire is a boarded-up wall. Crash through it and use the Antiquated Key on the locked door. Follow the path until you reach three chests. This stave is inside one of them. The stave requirements are 20 Intelligence. It is capable of dealing 95 Magic damage and 95 Dark damage.

Lizard Staff – This stave location is in Undead Purgatory. It is dropped by Necromancers. The stave requirements are 18 Intelligence. It is capable of dealing 102 Magic damage and 102 Dark damage.

Olenford's Staff – This stave location is the Undead Crypt. In the pit, where the shortcut level is located, there is a hidden wall that requires a Pharros’ Lockstone. The stave requirements are 40 Intelligence. It is capable of dealing 140 Magic damage and 140 Dark damage.

Sorcerer's Staff – This stave is part of the Sorcerer Class starting equipment. Alternatively, visit Carhillion of the Fold in No-Man’s Wharf and spend 1000 Souls to obtain this weaon. The stave requirements are 10 Intelligence. It is capable of dealing 90 Magic damage and 90 Dark damage.

Staff of Amana – This stave location is the Shrine of Amana. It is rarely dropped by the Amana Sorceresses. The stave requirements are 35 Intelligence. It is capable of dealing 115 Magic damage and 115 Dark damage.

Staff of Wisdom – This stave location is the Dragon Shrine. After killing the Drakekeeper smash through the crates. Use a Pharros’ Lockstone to enter the secret room. Loot the chest to obtain this weapon. The stave requirements are 50 Intelligence. It is capable of dealing 180 Magic damage.

Sunset Staff – Visit Felkin the Outcast, located between Majula and Huntsman’s Copse. If you have 20+ Intelligence and 20+ Faith exhaust all dialogue branches and you will be given the stave. The stave requirements are 20 Intelligence and 18 Faith. It is capable of dealing 106 Magic damage and 60 Dark damage.

Trangressor's Staff – Visit Chancellor Wellager in Drangleic Castle. Spend 8000 Souls to obtain this weapon. The stave requirements are 15 Intelligence and 12 Faith. It is capable of dealing 80 Magic damage and 40 Dark damage.

Witchtree Branch – This stave location is Majula. Pay Laddersmith Gilligan 12000 Souls to build the ladder that goes down the pit. At the bottom climb the metal ladder and open the door with the Forgotten Key to reveal three chests. Loot the chests to obtain this weapon. The stave requirements are 16 Intelligence and 18 Faith. It is capable of dealing 100 Magic damage and 100 Dark damage.
