Game Review
In Battle for Darkness, the soldiers of the Realm kept our evil forces out of the mainland. Time is different now… Let's begin a new age of darkness and claim back whatever is ours. Command the ever growing evil hordes in an epic battle to defeat the armies of the Realm and the mighty Titan.

This is a very refreshing game and I love the concept of this game. For once, the good guys are defeated. I always kind of liked the idea of leading evil forces as the main role than being the good guys. You start right off with the 3 weak Goblins Warriors and it starts generating a small income by slaying the Peasants. Once you are out of units, you use the gold to upgrade and build an even stronger army that destroy everything in its path.

The idea of switching units to conquer is simple and yet fun. Each unit having its own unique skill was neat. The difficulty curve is reasonably balanced, I managed to complete the game in 32 days pretty easily without much effort. I actually went up against the Titan 3 times, he is definitely a tough nut to crack. However the game lacks of progression because you restart every time in the same place against the same units. In other word, repetitive but I disagree with some saying there is no strategy to the game. In fact this isn't the case, it does have some strategy. Without proper care and strategy you simply cannot beat the game. The game is tactical and challenging if you try to win in the fewest days possible, otherwise, as others have said, it's just a grind.

The game might be a little better if it was a little more action oriented, for example retreat to heal. Perhaps adding new area's unlocked by progressing up to a certain point. These new area's would have different enemy unit compositions and will start off more difficult. A few more features implemented and the game remove some of the repetitiveness. This a solid game nonetheless; the mechanics were fine and smooth, the music also goes quite well with the game. Lastly, I end off appreciating the Realm Forces being polite enough to let the Dark Forces perform their animations for their special abilities, despite being possibly taken over by the Dark Forces.

Health Points - Total health points of a given unit. Every time a unit suffers from an attack, health points are deducted.
Armor - Armor reduces the health points deducted when a unit suffers form an attack.
Attack - Damage afflicted (in health points) to an opponent on a successful attack.
Agility - Ability to get past the opponent's defensive skills.
Defense - Ability to avoid (block or dodge) the opponent's attack.
Range - Distance (in number of battle columns) from which a ranged unit can attack.

Recommended Build for Battle for Darkness
Here is my build if anyone is interested: Chamans - Dark Mages - Archers - (Melee Unit)
The sequence for Melee Unit: Goblins > Skeletons > Fighters > Werewolves > Cursed Knights > Demon.

Basically, this is a 3 ranges and 1 melee setup. This is to obtain the maximum damage output. The Melee Unit is like tankers, there purpose is to protect ranges units and do some additional damage to realm units. Always use the Goblin Kamizake when you're facing a bad match up such as the City Guards vs werewolves, or madmen vs your cursed knights. The benefit of underworld fighters is they ressurect when they die. Used them to delay battles and probably the most effective way to wait for cooldowns without sacrificing units. Fiery Arrows, Black Rain and Apocalypse are strong AOE spells, remember to use regularly when facing massive units.
