Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is the first game in the series to offer a new type of side quest called Templar Hunts. There are four of these special assassination missions total, and each one will get you some rewards. In addition to a small amount of Reales, each successful hunt grants you a piece to unlock the Templar Armor, which gives Edward the ability to take 25% less damage.
To get started, you’ll need to have acquired the Great Inagua hideout. Once you have this, you can find the starting point for each hunt to get the information needed to complete these side missions. Ready to hunt some Templars? Use our guide if you need help.
For this first hunt, you will need to start by talking to Opia Apito. She doesn’t trust you, so you’ll need to earn her respect before the actual assassination takes place.
The first part of this Templar Hunt requires you to impress Opia in a hunting challenge. In the challenge, you will need to hunt and skin more animals than Opia can in a certain amount of time. From the start, go a different than Opia and search for animals using Eagle Vision. Once you kill five animals, a white jaguar will appear.
The jaguar attacks. Use the prompts to successfully survive and then kill the rare jaguar. This will complete the mission.
This next mission requires you to eavesdrop on a target located in Grand Cayman. Head there and follow the target to initiate the eavesdrop sequence. Stay in the eavesdrop zone at all times, and avoid drawing attention to yourself by using hiding spots and blending groups.
After you finish eavesdropping, you’ll need to pickpocket a target. Walk quickly to catch up to him and stealthily pickpocket him to complete the mission.
Start this mission right next to where the previous mission finished. Opia is waiting for you. Follow her and hide when she tells you to. A chase scene will begin and you will need to catch your target, Vargas. No matter what you do, he will reach his ship. You can follow him until this happens, or you can turn around and run back to the Jackdaw anyway.
You will now need to attack Vargas’ ship. Once you do enough damage, you can either board the ship or kill him from afar. Once Vargas is dead, the mission is complete.
This is the last mission for this Templar Hunt. Find Opia on Pinos Isle and talk to her. She will instruct you to follow a soldier with her. Move from Stalking Zone to Stalking Zone until she tells you to take out the guards. You will need to fight a few waves of soldiers before you can move on. Use the environment to help you – there are powder kegs nearby.
After you finish killing all the guards in the area, chase down your Templar target – Lucia Marquez. Assassinate her to successfully complete the first Templar Hunt.
To start the second hunt, talk to Rhona Dinsmore in Havana.
The first mission has you fighting right off the bat. You will need to fight waves of enemies that are attacking the Assassin’s Bureau. Use whatever you have in your arsenal to defeat these basic soldiers. You can use powder kegs or smoke bombs as necessary. After you defeat all four waves of enemies, the mission is completed.
After the previous mission, you’ll be standing right next to Rhona. Talk to her to immediately start the next part. This mission involves catching a thief in the marketplace. Locate your target with Eagle Vision and try to sneak up on him. This will help you avoid an annoying chase. Tackle him to get the goods back and complete this part of the hunt.
Go back to the Assassin’s Bureau to continue the Templar Hunt. You will now need to travel around Havana and detonate three different powder reserves. They are located in the Restricted Areas, so be aware that if you are seen, you’ll be attacked. Use your map to find the reserves and ignite them. Get away from them as quickly as possible. You only have 8 seconds before they will explode, and getting caught in the blast is not pretty. Once you blow up all the powder reserves, you can move on to the last mission.
Go to the center of Havana and talk to Rhona for the last time. You’ll now need to take out the Templar, Hillary Flint. Accompany Rhoda to the Restricted Area. She will go into the area, but if you want to avoid enemies, run along the outside of the area to meet her at the designated spot.
Once you are in the area, make sure you don’t have any suspicion. Carefully move up to the target and assassinate her. To get away, you can jump into the nearby water or try to sneak away through the city. After this, the hunt will be completed.
For this Templar Hunt, find and talk to Anto in Kingston.
The first mission will have you eavesdropping for Anto. You can hire some dancers or use the group of dancers along the path to stay hidden while you are eavesdropping. Walk with the group into the eavesdropping zone and stay in the zone until they are finished talking. Head to the next marker on the map.
Find another group of dancers so you can complete this next eavesdropping sequence. Complete this eavesdropping sequence by staying in the zone and staying hidden to move on. After this, you will need to chase down a target. Use free-running and sprint to tackle the one of the fugitives. This will complete the mission.
Go back and talk to Anto. He will give you a new objective. You will need to free some slaves to complete this mission. All three slaves are found in restricted zones. You can try to be stealthy or you can take out the guards as they spot you.
In each area, there will be a group of drunken men. Give them some Reales so they will start a fight with the guards, allowing you to sneak in and free the slaves. Once you have freed all three, the mission is complete.
For this mission, go back to the Assassin’s Bureau in Kingston and talk to Anto. You will need to engage in combat for this mission. There will be waves of enemies for you to defeat. You and all your allies must survive the assault to be successful. Stay close to Anto to ensure he lives. Defeat all the enemies to complete the mission.
The last mission is where you’ll take out the Templar, Abraham. To start, talk to Anto in the center of Kingston. To start, you’ll need to find targets across the city using Eagle Vision. As you tag them, Anto will take them down. Eventually you will reach the Restricted Area. You can follow Anto in and risk being spotted, or you can run along the outside to reach Abraham.
Use Eagle Vision to find out which person is Abraham. The sugar cane fields are a good place to scan the area. Once you find him, you can use a nearby Stalking Zone to attack. Assassinate him any way you please, then leave the Restricted Area to complete the mission.
For the last Templar Hunt, you need to talk to Vance Travers in Nassau.
The hunt starts with some eavesdropping. Hire some dancers to make it easiest. Find your target using Eagle Vision and move in to hear the conversation. Don’t forget to grab your dancer’s before moving into the eavesdropping sequence.
After listening to the conversation, climb to the top of a building so you can discover Upton using Eagle Vision. Use an air assassination or another method of killing him to complete the mission.
Talk to Upton, who you tried to assassinate in the last mission. He’s on the west side of Nassau. Follow him around until he asks you to protect him from some thieves as he travels. Hide in the nearby Stalking Zone and follow Vance and Upton. As the thieves approach, take them out using stealth.
After Vance and Upton separate, follow Vance to a clearing. Hide here to eavesdrop on his conversation with the Templar Jing Lang. After this, assassinate the killer before he can reach Upton to complete the mission.
Go to the tavern and talk to Upton again. In the tavern, a brawl will occur and you’ll need to fight. Take out all the enemies to move on. From there, you will need to escort Upton. Guards will attack – defeat all three of them to complete the mission.
Talk to Upton in the eastern part of Nassau to start the last mission.You will now go hunt for the Pirate Queen/ Templar Jing Lang. Head towards the marker on the map to get to a Restricted Area, where Jing Lang can be found.
Use your Eagle Vision to find Vance in the search zone. He’s usually on the western side of the area. Assassinate him. This will automatically trigger a chase with Jing Lang. You have to catch her in order to assassinate her. You can just shoot her quickly with your pistols or get closer for another form of assassination. This will end the Templar Hunt. Now you should have all the pieces for the Templar Armor. Turn them in at Great Inagua to get the armor.
