Mario continues his 3D adventures in the new WiiU game, Super Mario 3D World. Like other Mario games, this WiiU entry has plenty of secrets and cheats to uncover. These are secret, hidden Luigis found around the game. You can find them by hitting ? blocks or if you see them through binoculars in certain levels. These little guys don’t actually do anything, they are just cute!
To unlock the hardest area in the game, you must have gotten all the green stars, stamps, and gold flags from the previous worlds.
Getting five stars is a way to demonstrate that you’ve been able to collect just about everything in Super Mario 3D World! You can obtain a one star rating for finishing the 8 worlds and two stars for collecting all the green stars in the first 8 worlds. Three stars are granted for completing the Star World, Mushroom World, and Flower World. Four stars is for collecting all the green stars in these 11 worlds, and finally you can get five stars for getting every green star and stamp, completing each world with every character, and hitting every single goal post!
You can get infinite lives in the level 1-2 (World 1, Level 2). Go into the cave and you will see a Koopa Troopa and a Goomba on a raised platform. Defeat the Goomba and then smash the purple blocks under the Koopa Troopa. Quickly jump up to get his shell.
With the shell, go right to see three more purple blocks on the ground. Stand facing the wall with your back towards the purple block. Jump away from the block and hit the wall and start a jumping chain that will give you infinite lives! Once you start jumping, you don’t have to hit any other buttons. Just let the character do its thing.
You will need the Cat Suit in order to use this exploit. You can get a Cat Suit in level 1-1. Wear the Cat Suit into level 1-2 and keep it all the way to the underground area. Go through until you reach two paths towards the exit. You should come out and there will be three normally hidden ? blocks along the wall. Use these blocks to jump up to the upper area. Kill the Koopa Troopa here and climb the upper wall to get to the Warp Zone.
To use this warp, you need to have the Cat Suit. Go through level 4-2 and come out of the underground area. There will be a Mystery Box near here. Run along the wall to get to the top of the waterfall. Jump across the water and get to the Red Pipe to warp.
You can unlock the Luigi Brothers in this game. There are two ways to do this. The easiest way is if you have a save file for New Super Luigi U on your Wii U. This automatically unlocks them. You can also get them by completing the first eight worlds of the game.
Rosaline is a character from Super Mario Galaxy that you can unlock in Super Mario 3D World. After you unlock her, you can play as her! Unlock her by successfully completing the Star-2 level.
Sparkling Stars will sometimes appear over the flag pole at the end of a level. If you want to pick them up, you can’t have gotten an Invincibility Leaf during that level.
Stamps are a collectible in this Mario game. You will need to find all the stamps to get a 5 Star rating on your save file. You can get stamps in single player or multi-player.
If you get to the top of the flag pole, it will turn from Red to Gold. But, if you found all the Green Stars, a Green Star will appear above the pole too!
