Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure review

Imagine Endless Ocean on DS millions of years ago - both in terms of prehistoric monsters and graphics. After you’ve mentally stripped out any visual delights, now imagine you’re playing as the fish, rather than a human observer, and your only objective is to, basically, not die. There’s no actual tangible objective beyond this.

Eat fish, dig out fossils, read some interesting snippets of educational material on fossils, eat more fish, then take the odd swipe at a gigantic prehistoric predator who’d like to either eat you or make you its cuddle monkey. The controls work thusly: up on the D-pad swims forwards, while direction and depth is stylus-controlled on the touch screen. A shoulder button locks onto prey incredibly clumsily, and before very long at all you realize this is less Deep Blue Sea, and more In The Trash.
