Piyotama - PS3 Network review

Dec 7, 2007

As a boxed game found on shop shelves we doubt Piyotama would have much success, but this quirky and intelligent puzzler is perfect material for the Network. It’s another ‘organise a bunch of coloured balls’ puzzler, but one that holds your interest due to the exquisite design and the sheer scale of thing.

The idea is to help a chicken hatch her eggs by constructing lines of the same colour, which sounds simple but in order to rack up a big score combos of 10 or more have to be constructed, which means you can only focus on a small section of the puzzle space if you have the bigger picture in mind. It’s a process that takes a lot of getting used to, but one that’s fun to learn. Innovative use of the Sixaxis adds to the experience. Eggs can be prematurely hatched by shaking the controller up and down, while lines can be reorganised by wobbling it from side to side.
