Major League Gaming App Comes To Xbox 360 With Live eSports Viewing

Major League Gaming (MLG) is one of the originators and leaders in field of eSports and it has just launched an application for Xbox 360 that allows gamers to kick back on their couch and watch some of the best competitive gamers in the world do their thing on a big screen TV.

This is a move that makes sense, as why wouldn’t MLG want to put the broadcasts on the very console where most of the games are actually being played? With the exception of Dota 2, League of Legends and Starcraft 2, many of the most watched eSports are shooters like Call of Duty, which are most popular on Microsoft’s last-generation console.

The app launches just in time for the Call of Duty Championship, which starts on March 28th. Other upcoming events include the MLG Call of Duty Ghosts Pro League, and the MLG Championship in June. Also, MLG’s eSports Report airs every week on Thursday, and will be available to users of the Xbox 360 application.

For now, the MLG app on Xbox 360 is available in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia. Like most video content on the Xbox 360, an Xbox Live Gold account is required in order to watch the content, which shouldn’t be an issue for most potential viewers, as Gold is also required to participate in multiplayer gaming.

No plans were announced for bringing a similar application to other consoles such as the Sony platforms or the Xbox One, but it seems logical that MLG would want to put its content in front of as many viewers as possible, which would mean getting it out on as many platforms as it can.
