Where to find Majoras Mask 3Ds relocated Stone Mask and Giants Mask

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D introduces a few changes to the classic action-adventure game, but none are as stymying as the relocation of two of the game’s all-important masks: the Stone Mask and the Giant’s Mask. Here’s where you can find them in the game’s revamped iteration, which launches today alongside the New Nintendo 3DS XL.

Where is the Stone Mask?

In short: The Stone Mask is in a completely different location, but one that makes a bit more sense in the context of the mask’s capabilities.

It’s no longer in the middle of Ikana Canyon, so don’t go looking for it there. Instead, you’ll need to head to the very center of the main yard of the Pirate’s Fortress — the area right after the bay with circling patrol boats. Make sure you’ve got the Eye of Truth and a Red Potion in your inventory, then make your way to the yard.

You’ll need to incapacitate all the nearby pirates, then run in, slap on your Eye of Truth and talk to Shiro, who’s sitting down next to one of the crates in the center. (Tatl will comment when you’re close, saying something along the lines of “Did you just say something?”) After acquiring the mask, slap it on immediately — it makes you invisible while you’re in the Pirate’s Fortress, making it much, much easier to sneak through.

Where is the Giant’s Mask?

If you’re asking that question, it’s because you’ve scoured the Stone Tower Temple — the Giant’s Mask’s old stomping grounds — looking for it unsuccessfully. Have no fear: It’s actually really easy to find! Just initiate the final boss fight of Stone Tower Temple.

The Giant’s Mask is an item that makes you gigantic, letting you face down the temple boss with ease. In The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D, you won’t actually get it until you defeat the first half of that fight — attempting to keep it spoiler free, here — at which point it spawns in the middle of the arena. Slap it on, and you’ll get huge, ready to take on the rest of the fight. It’s actually quite different from the original Majora’s Mask, and one of the better moments in the whole game.
