Pokemon Omega Ruby And Alpha Sapphire Guide - Mossdeep City Gym (Leaders Liza & Tate)

Pokemon ORAS (5)

After making it through the secret base of either Team Magma or Team Aqua in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, depending on the version you are playing, it is time to finally go after that seventh badge. To obtain this badge, you must venture to Mossdeep City, which is the next logical location in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire after making your way from the secret base.

This Psychic type gym has a number of trainers split between platforms that you must levitate across. By touching little pillars throughout, the pathways may change, which could lead to you missing out on a trainer. Your best bets in this gym are going to be Psychic’s three weaknesses in Bug, Dark, and Ghost. None of the starters are particularly going to be strong here with their base types, though it is possible to teach a Dark move to them or even a Bug type to Sceptile, which is your best chance. I personally was able to take down basically the entire gym with just Sceptile’s X-Scissor attack.

This gym is unique to not only Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire but the Pokemon series as a whole, as it hosts two gym leaders that you will fight in a double battle. Each of them only have one Pokemon though, so this should be one of the easier gym battles in the entire game.

-Solrock – Level 45 (Rock/Psychic)

  • Moves:
    • Sunny Day
    • Psychic
    • Rock Slide
    • Solar Beam
  • Strategy: Those who have Sceptile or Marshtomp will be in great shape on both of these Pokemon, as they can be taken down easily with a Grass or Water type move due to the Rock type they hold. Any of the other types that were effective throughout the gym, including Bug, Dark, or Ghosts will be very effective here as well. Overall, this is probably the easiest gym battle in all of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

-Lunatone – Level 45 (Rock/Psychic)

  • Moves:
    • Psychic
    • Calm Mind
    • Hypnosis
    • Light Screen
  • Strategy: Use the same exact strategy as with Solrock.
