Pokemon X and Y includes a brand new feature for the series called Mega Evolutions. It’s a key part of the game and will be introduced as you play, its mystery being unravelled as part of the game.
Only certain Pokemon in Pokemon X and Y can be Mega Evolved, and when doing so will greatly increase certain stats, add certain abilities or even affect that Pokemon’s typing.
If you have a favourite Pokemon that you would like to see Mega Evolve, or even want to collect all the Mega versions of Pokemon, then we’ve created a list just for you.
To Mega Evolve you’ll need to first collect the Mega Ring and a Pokemon-specific Mega Stone, which the Pokemon must hold to evolve in battle.
Some of these Mega Stones will be given to you as you explore the world, others will need to be located in the world. Those that are given to you can be acquired before the Elite Four have been defeated.
To find and use most of the Mega Stones you will need to defeat the Elite Four, complete the side quest to get the Mega Ring upgraded and find the Mega Stones in their specific locations in the world.
Most Mega Stones will only appear during the hours of 8PM and 9PM, too, so you have a very limited amount of time to look for them.
NOTE: Some Mega Stones are exclusive to either Pokemon X or Y, to acquire these Mega Stones you will need to trade a Pokemon (not necessarily the one that you want to Mega Evolve) that is holding that Mega Stone.
