Resistance: Burning Skies Walkthrough
Resistance returns on the very small screen with Resistance: Burning Skies for the Playstation Vita. Unlike the previous Playstation Portable incarnations, Burning Skies sticks closely to the Resistance formula made famous by Insomniac Games. The reigns have been handed over to Nihilistic Software to create this first-person portable shooter. Turning back time from Resistance 3, Burning Skies tells the story of a firefighter in New York during the Chimera invasion of North America’s east coast. It’s a battle that’s doomed to failure, but hero Tom Riley only cares about saving his family.
Employing the touchscreen and other Vita controls, Resistance: Burning Skies should be a unique experiment for the series. Survive the invasion with our walkthrough below, or find more Burning Skies information on our achievements, trophies, and cheats pages.
Check back soon for new updates.
Staten Island: Part 1
In the first level, your objective will be to fight invaders while carrying the good people to safety.
Head around the corner and up the stairs for a Quick Axe tutorial.
Head down the hallway and through the doorway for the target grenades tutorial.
Use your elevation to take out the next wave of enemies without jumping down.
Follow the man with the gun as he lets you through the door. Don’t get too attached to him though.. and grab his weapon when he goes down.
A little bit down the way, your new objective will be to reach the evacuation zone.
Head up the ledge and around the corner to bump into more enemies. This is a great opportunity to test out your new crossbow.
To use the crossbow, pull back on the screen as you aim and release it once the direction is on.
Move along the edge and on to the opposite side of the room to hit a save point. Shortly after the save point, you will find yourself outside again.
Head to the right and down he large circular pipe.
Proceed inside but take steps slowly, as there will be scorpion type enemies that will drop from the ceiling. Aim at the floor as you proceed so you can take them out quickly as you go.
Just past the scorpions, you will hit another save point. Pick up the Carbine here and equip it, as it is the best weapon that you have up to this point.
Climb up the ladder in front of you and head left. You’ll find that you just walked into a war zone.
The best way to take out this wave of enemies is to duck behind the cars for cover. The cars are conveniently placed in between you and your targets.
There will be some enemies that will come from the roofs of the buildings. If you are able to, approach them closely to execute them
Enjoy the cutscene of the plane going down and observe the tutorial for the weapon wheel.
Move along the ledge and around the corner. Take out the wave of scorpions without letting them touch you. A great way to do this is to quickly back up while you are shooting to create space.
Follow the allies through the alley and onto another cutscene. Finally, there are people that are actually glad to see you
Staten Island: Part 2
Once you regain control of your character, you will be shot at through the window. Duck behind the cars and aim up at your enemies as you take cover. Do NOT leave the cover of the car until you complete the Objective of defending the evacuation zone.
After the cutscene, you will acquire Gray Tech, which will allow you to upgrade weapons within the weapon wheel.
After the next wave of enemies, you will come up against your first boss- Executioner. Executioner’s movements are fairly predictable. His attacks are somewhat hard to dodge so move left to right as you are firing at him. Whenever he is stunned, approach him to deal heavier damage.
Move towards the door with the icon on it and examine it to help your ally open it. You will be hit with a cutscene that makes this quite the tense opening of the door.
Your next task will be to escape the crawler storm. Head to the left and all the way down the street towards the two cars next to each other in order to complete the escape.
Military Ocean Terminal: Part 1
After the lengthy cutscene, head down the long flight of stairs and through the door to the outside.
Observe the Augur vision tutorial. You’ll have a chance to test out this method of seeing through solid objects to target enemies.
Keep up your shield as you proceed through the hallway.
Move past the platform with the small set of stairs. The next opening is located in the upper right corner of this room.
Head across the ledge and aim to the part of the ledge on the opposite side of the room to take out the enemies on that side. At the end of the ledge, head down the stairs and climb up the next ledge that looks similar to the one you just walked.
Once you hit the outside you will be bombarded with gunfire. Immediately duck behind the gray ish crates and take out the enemies while taking cover. You will complete the Assist Ellie objective once you clear these enemies.
Approach the orange box and mess with the lever for a cutscene and to complete the Lift Crane objective.
Head into the hallway directly underneath where the plane crashed in the cutscene into another quick cutscene with Ellie once you hit the outside. This will complete the Find Ellie objective.
Approach the armed man standing next to the doors with the exit signs. This will unlock the next objective of fighting Magazine Fire.
Head inside the room, loop around the corner and head downstairs. Take out the zombies and proceed left and through the opening in the brick wall.
Once you go down the next set of stairs and find yourself outside again, you will need to take cover by ducking behind the crates (or anything elevated that you find). Not only do you have to take cover in this sequence, but you need to constantly stay moving as you are ducking in order to avoid being hit.
Military Ocean Terminal: Part 2
Your new objective is to assist Ellie. Head through the iron door and shoot right after it opens to take out the zombie that drops from the ceiling.
Head to the right and down two flights of stairs. Keep going down the hallway until you reach an enemy guarding a fork in the path.
Go right and down the next two flights of stairs. Move to the other side of the room and go straight down the hallway towards the door with the icon on it.
Go down the ladder and enjoy the next cutscene.
Keep going straight along the path and drop down through the opening that looks like a pipe.
Be careful in regards to going around the rocks and corners here. The hallway is narrow and you won’t have much space between your enemies and yourself if you see them too late. Every step matters.
Once you reach the outside, you will have a boss fight. Yup, it’s the giant thing you see in front of you.
Equip the carbine in order to take out the mini zombies that the boss constantly spews out. Keep an eye on them and take them out before they run up to you and take damage.
The boss will open his mouth when he is stunned. Watch for this moment carefully and take full advantage to damage him when he does.
George Washington Bridge
Enjoy the opening cutscene and pay attention to the context in which the story turns. Looks like there is a chimera invasion from New Jersey to New York.
Your task here when you drop in is to rescue whatever survivors you can before the bridge collapses.
Once you have control of your character, zoom in straight ahead of you in order to take out the first few enemies. They are trying to stay hidden and out of sight.. but not from this walkthrough!
Once you move ahead, target the hostiles in the area beneath the arch and use your crossbow to get to them.
The carbine is the best weapon in this level for up close combat so re equip it after you take out the enemies beneath the arch.
Once your new objective becomes to find an alternate route, sneak along the edge of the elevated ledge, duck beneath the part that is slightly more elevated on the edge for cover, and zoom in and aim at the enemies around the corner.
In this same area, there will be hostiles shooting at you from the balcony above. Look up to locate them.
The alternate route has been found. Your next task is going to be to defend VTOL.
In order to dispose of the enemies in this level, you will absolutely have to use both the high cover and the low cover. The layout of the bridge is straightforward, and you are always able to use your map as a reference. This area is much more about tactics then it is about finding your way around.
Drag the icon of your grenade onto the screen to take out the larger groups of enemies all at once.
Head up to the trap door in the upper right hand corner. After taking care of the enemy that comes through it, go underneath it and into the maintenance tunnel.
Head down the path and to the left until the end and take cover behind the wall once you are outside again to avoid taking too much damage.
If you see the enemies in the larger groups, feel free to place an explosive tag on one of them so that they take out an entire group when they go off.
The chimera will constantly be shooting you. Be sure to keep moving from cover to cover to stay safe as you are taking out the smaller enemies around you. This level is certainly more fast paced than the previous so stay sharp.
Ellis Island
Seems like you’re just waking up when you hit this level. Head down the path and the first right and use your carbine to take out the wave of zombies from a distance.
The first Ellis island cutscene is going to be quick. Hang right and keep moving along the path through the next few waves of enemies.
Duck behind the low coverings and keep moving as your head is low alternating between the lower and high elevations. Use your bow and arrow to snipe the zombies at the very top for another cutscene.
Go down the ladder and through the small door on the floor in the corner of the room. Keep heading along the path by making two rights.
After the next short cutscene, stay along the wall to the left side of the screen. Your objective will be to clear the next area. This would be a good time to switch back to your carbine- the enemies here are plentiful but low on health.
Head up, left, straight up the path, and make another left down the stairs for another short cutscene. Are your allies in trouble? I think so.
Well, the boss of this level is now going to show his face. This campaign is essentially to take out the boss, and this fight is going to be a fight where speed and damage in sprints will be key.
Keep yourself moving and fire away relentlessly. Essentially you want to quickly deal enough damage to take this undead foe out before it kills you.
You will be mauled by lesser enemies as you are fighting. As soon as the boss does this, back up to create space between yourself and the enemies as you continue to shoot. This will assure that none of them can make contact with you and damage you.
Your last objective here will be to escape before the last cutscene. You will receive the Ellis Island trophy and the right to move on with the main storyline upon completion. Nice!
Protection Camp
Enjoy Level 5′s opening cutscene. This game’s exposition isn’t too complicated, but it’s just interesting enough to be good eh?
Things are getting more violent fast. Those chimeras aren’t letting up. Your first objective will be to clear your immediate area.
Go down the ladder and straight up the path. You may notice hostiles firing from above you. You can aim up during the entire next segment of this path (and by next segment, I mean about 50 feet or so).
Check your map to orient yourself if you need to- your destination is essentially southwest. Head inside the structure and make a left through the door until you are outside again.
After the cutscene in which the airship gets taken down (I thin thats the 10th cutscene like that this game) take immediate cover and duck behind the gray bins.
There are snipers elevated here so watch out. They can hurt you and make it hard for you to finish the level. Keep moving and keep yourself next to the wall on your left when possible
Enjoy yet another short cutscene and go through the door on the floor.
Go straight and up the two flights of stairs. Check the small room in the corner before continuing down the path for a hidden weapon.
There will be a boss battle coming up that’s going to be a little anti climactic in difficulty. Your allies (or ally I should say) are really going to help out here. Shoot the boss from a distance while your allies get in closer for more damage. If they are staying far away- you get closer. Essentially, just do the opposite of what your comrades are doing for a balanced attack. Once the boss is stunned and freezes up for a few seconds, unload your grenades and fire away.
You will receive the Protection Camp trophy and the honor of moving on to the last level of Burning Skies’ main playthrough. One level left. Bring it!
Conversion Tower and the Final Boss
The final boss of Resistance: Burning Skies is notoriously a pain in the butt. He is extremely difficult and, unfortunately, does require some bit of luck in taking out. Seeing as how this is a guide and that’s the last thing you guys want to here, I’ll lay out the tactics that will give you the best shot at a victory.
First of all, essentially every type of gun misses this boss. You will have to use the Mauler mini-gun. This seems to be the only way to consistently land blows on the boss.
The boss has giant hands and arms that will hurt you really badly if you get too close. The way to counter this is to position your character as close to the door that you came in through as you can. This will put you out of reach (for the most part) of the boss’s giant hands. This will also make the battle time consuming, as you won’t be able to hit the boss as much staying in that position. Be patient, stay the course, and do not move from the spot for the entire battle.
The boss will throw bombs at you. You cannot do anything about these bombs until they turn a brightish hue of red. At this point, shoot the bombs to intercept them. If you should the bombs when they are not lit up, absolutely nothing will happen except you wasting precious ammo.
You will have to take out two waves of the bombs. Shoot at these bombs, again, while standing by the door.
After you destroy the first three bombs, you will have to execute a strictly timed attack to take out the next wave. This time around, you only get one chance. The boss will destroy you if you miss it ON YOUR FIRST TIME AROUND. The battle starts over and there is no checkpoint, so you do have to fight this battle all the way through. It will take a few goes to feel it out, but if you follow these instructions, you will be able to secure yourself a victory and the Conversion Tower trophy.
