Auric’s Base
Welcome to the James Bond experience. I’m gonna go ahead and assume you’ve played some kind of shooter before. If not, there are handy tutorials in the game menu to help you get up to speed. Even if you’re not very familiar with the generic Bond/shooter controls, the game is kind enough to review them for you as you invade Goldfinger’s compound.
If you’re taking fire and you don’t know where it’s coming from, press up on the D-pad to send out a radar blip to identify nearby enemies. Get familiar with the basics, ducking, jumping, aiming, and so on, as you make your way through the explody level. Look for the very traditional exploding barrels.
As soon as you climb a big burning ramp, you’ll be instructed to look out for intel. Immediately inside the next door, look down for a folder. Keep your eye out for these in the future. In the next big room, there’s lots of stuff to blow up, so look for ways to save ammo. After clearing the area, follow the radar point and look for an MI6 suitcase. These allow you to upgrade your weapons and some awesome toys.
Once you reach the next radar point, you’ll be instructed how to use your smartphone to hack. This will be bound to come in handy eventually. You’ll use both triggers to sync up a signal, which takes a bit of getting used to, so get the hang of it now. Note the signal on your HUD that indicates there’s a signal nearby.
Another wave of bad guys will follow, then tutorials on running and sneaking. They’re certainly covering the bases! In the next room, you can sneak up on the guy directly ahead of you with his back to you, and then take out the second guard. There are two more above you and to your left, according to your watch. To your right, there’s a wifi signal. Up the stairs on the left, where one of the guards is, is a case with a silenced sniper rifle in it. SCORE! If you’ve picked up a couple of guns by now, using the sniper rifle will net you an achievement .
Get to an elevated position to clear most of the guards without alerting them. On the bottom level, look for three photograph opportunities. Get close enough and focused enough, and click the camera to take a pic. All three and you move onto the next waypoint. This will tell you to use your bio scanner on the phone. Follow the gas trail. In the next room you can use the EMP burst on your watch to kill two sensors. Head into the next room.
In the next section, look for a piece of intel in one of the consoles near the silos, and a bio in front of the double doors before you leave the room. In the next section, after you see Goldfinger, there are three guards to subdue and you must not be seen. There’s also an EMP target up and to your left from where you start. Your control officer will tell you to look for other objectives. That’s your cue to look at the front right wheel of both trucks and plant a tracking device. Then head on. You’ll sneak up on Miss Galore and talk to her.
Yay, more tutorial, this time on hand-to-hand combat. It’s not that hard, but blocking requires a bit of finesse. Then you’ll learn to use the EMP to distract guards. Fire it at the distant speaker, not the close one, so you can get the drop on the bad guys. After that, you’ll use the bio sensor on the phone to break through a door. Look for an MI6 case at the same spot.
Use the phone to scan the room. There’s a print on the pool table. There’s a mark on the wall past it, and a smudge and a safe on the wall behind the desk. There’s a phone on the desk, for a bio pickup and another one behind the bar. Return to the first Goldfinger smudge for a clever safe mechanic and a showdown.
Two quicktime events later, you’ll face off against a platoon of guys, so get your gun ready and look for cover. They’ll come from both sides of you, so don’t let your guard down to the rear. Get to the lower level, and follow the radar point to reach your car.
Giant laser? Giant laser.
Fort Knox
Felix gives you a good gun and now you’re right into the thick of it. This is the first time I can remember really being at WAR in a Bond game. There are a lot of guys to kill, and RPG gunners on the two towers ahead of you. Fortunately there’s lots of cover, and your gun does distance well. In the second section, there are two more gunners on the towers, but there’s a source you can hack in the one on the right. That opens the barrier, which you inexplicably can’t climb over, to let the soldiers through. Find good cover while you do, because the bad guys will not stop coming while you hack.
In the next section, look for RPGs and use them to take out the laser tank ahead of you. The other lasers in the area are from snipers, they won’t hurt you, at least not until you get shot. Once the tank is blown, mop up the last guys, get some ammo, and head inside.
By the way, in case you haven’t seen it by now, the two pause menus look similar, but they’re not. Hit the back button to access a checklist menu of XP challenges, like headshots, kills with various guns, etc. Fulfill these for more points for buying more toys and weapon mods.
The next big room is filled with lots of guys, including some snipers at the far end. Keep in cover and progress slowly, down one of the sides. After the room is clear, you’ll keep going to the left, looking for the power to the elevators. Follow Felix and the crew through the lower levels, very straightforward path. Look for new guns to pick up to expand your XP. When you reach your destination, you’ll have to protected Felix while he does something or other, and then it’ll be your turn to learn a new hacking mechanic. Make sure all the guys are dead first or you’ll get creamed while figuring it out. It’s kind of like Sudoku, line up the colors so the connections are all active.
Oooh, now it’s dark! Follow Felix to the elevator, then fight another round of bad guys in the dark. When you clear them out, Felix will blow a door. Right next to it is an ammo case, open it for a shotgun with a compensator on it. Score!
In the next area, go through what looks like a filing room until you reach an open area with a grated wall in front of you. Then turn around. Head straight back down the path directly behind you to a room with a vault door, a bomb to defuse, and an ammo case with a specialized AK in it.
The next section is the same, but look for a guy sneaking up on you, and you’ll have a fist fight. When you finish and the night vision comes off, there’s an MI6 box on your right and a bomb to defuse on your left. Head on through, you’ll take an elevator, and then you’ll see Odd Job again. Clear out the room ahead of you, then switch to an automatic weapon and get ready to run.
After the blast door gauntlet, break out a long-range gun and clear the area. In the next section you’ll face snipers, and there’s a handy sniper rifle waiting for you if you don’t have one. In the next section there’s a Terralite with a Reflex sight on it, which will help you with your challenges, and Is also just sweet. After that, head for the big bomb. Then you get to go hand to hand with you-know-who before it’s all over.
Secret Service
Wow, you really ARE getting the James Bond experience. The bad news is, you have to keep up with Teresa, which means you need to keep the accelerate button pegged, which makes dodging that much harder. Take out four guys and keep with her, and soon you’ll reach a slo-mo portion where you take out two RPG soldiers. After that, you’ll have to defend her against a helicopter shooter, and then dodge a LOT of rough ground to stick with her. After that you’ll have to run from an avalanche! You won’t catch her, you just have to stay close to her.
Next you’ll mount an all-out assault on Blofeld’s sexy Alp lair. First you’ll use your sniper rifle to take out a handful of guards (look for the barrels) and then you’ll switch to a minigun. Use it to target and blow up…well, everything really, but especially barrels and the rocket launcher trailers. The gun can overheat, so fire it in bursts, don’t just keep your finger on the trigger.
Once you hit the ground, you’ll need to take out a sniper and move up to the next level. Nifty grappling hook guns included! If you can put a reticle on this gun, it’s really quite impressive. Move up to the next section, and head to the left, looking out for heavy machine gunners. You can take out a few guys and take the pressure off yourself by heading downhill to the left first, before you take on the gunner head on.
Head inside the building and keep heading left. You’ll reach an open room with a lot of guards, look for one with an RPG and take him out first. Head up the stairs and keep an eye out ahead of you for more guards, but more importantly, look for a chopper to show up on your left. He’s actually on your side, but if you get in the way, you’ll get toasted fast.
At the top, when you reach the marker, switch to the bio scanner and look for the prints behind the desk. There’s some intel by the MI6 case behind the secret door. In the next section you’ll switch to night vision and head into an area where Felix opens doors for you. After the third door, you’ll have a hand-to-hand fight. You’ll continue downstairs in the dark, waiting on Felix to keep progressing.
Second verse, same as the first, only the girl is tagging along as well. When you break out into daylight, you have the chance to switch to stealth mode and keep things subtle. To do that, look for the first two guys on the way to the stairs, then hang to the right while you slide past and keep under cover. Blow up the security camera above the computers, and look for a wallet on a desk for some intel . You can actually slide by several guys by staying on the right and heading out the door onto the catwalks beyond.
In the next area, use your watch to take out the cameras so you don’t set off the alarm. In the center of the room, look for a console with remote mines and grenades on it. Then follow the radar point to reach the next section. Here, keep it VERY stealthy unless you want to deal with angry armored guards!
When you reach the next big space, keep to the right wall and get into the shadow. Follow the wall to the shadow of a stack of crates. Head through the center of the room and kill the first guy you see. Then there’s another guy at the top of the stairs, take him out and then destroy the camera. Enter that door. Directly ahead of you, look for a seal on the wall you can pick up. Head to the desk, scan Blofeld’s handprint, and then look for his prints on a drawer for some intel . Then look for a wall panel behind you, hit it, and then there’s something to hack under the desk. On the other side of the wall, there’s a safe opposite where you found the panel. Hack the thingee, then you’ll take a picture.
Shoot out the glass you took a picture of to escape the gas, then you’ll chase Blofeld. It can be very challenging to hit the guys when you’re all woozy from the gas. In the next area, there’s only a few guys between you and the cable car Blofeld hops in. Shoot a lock off the gate, hit the big button to shut the lift down. When you reach the cable car, grab an RPG and hit the chopper. Blofeld fist fight? Blofeld fist fight.
The Refinery
The Dart Gun is a fun new toy, but put it away for now. Head to the top of the hill, drop the first guy you see, and open the case in front of you. This kickass sniper rifle will help you clear the immediate area. Get up on the wall and look down. Take out the guy beneath you immediately. In the distance ahead of you, there should be a guy patrolling at 12 o’clock and another one to your right somewhere between 1 and 3 o’clock. Take him out first when the other guard isn’t looking at him. His absence will draw the other guard, and you can drop him as well. Then look to your right and take out the two guards in front of the temple entrance. If you time it right, you won’t call any heat on yourself. Then, climb down and look for a guy on the far side of the blocks right in front of you. His back is to you and he’s an easy kill. He’s also one of the four terrorists that are part of your secondary goal. By the way, if you haven’t upgraded your targeting skills yet, it makes the sniping and sneaking in this level VASTLY easier. You can also try to avoid contact altogether
Once on the main ground level of the section, head to your right, loop around, and come at the temple entrance by following the wall around the building. If you didn’t take out everyone, stay low and take your time. Head into the entrance, take out the guy you run into there, and head for the temple entrance directly across the temple from you.
Hang a left out of the temple entrance to avoid all the snipers and guards. Head directly to the next temple building ahead of you and duck into an alcove and wait out the guard patrolling the stairs. When he’s past you, run behind him to the far side of the next passage, and hug the left wall all the way around to the next waypoint.
Life’s a LOT easier inside the temple. Follow the waypoints and break through two hatches to reach the next section. Then we go back to sneaking and shooting. After you take out the first guard automatically, head to the end of the walkway you’re on. Directly ahead of you and directly to your left are cameras. Split the difference, and you can see a camera and a speaker. Take the speaker out first to cover your ass, then destroy the rest of the security. There will be a guy walking next to the big truck beneath you, and another guy across from where you started. Take both of them out with a silenced sniper rifle. Look to where the camera was directly ahead of you and snipe a guy when he’s about halfway between you and the far end of the walkway. That will clear your paths.
Drop down the ladder and look for an arms case for a souped up AK. Follow the wall to your right and look for a glitched guard pressed up against a truck, walking nowhere. You don’t have to take him out, just be aware of him. Look for a ladder onto the platform where you shot the last guy and plant the first bomb at the far end of it. Then head back where you started.
Climb up the ladder across from where you started. Take out the last camera and plant your second bomb. From here it should be a straight shot down the wall on the right to plant the last bomb and enter the next section through the grate.
When you exit the tunnel, look straight ahead for a guy to kill and a camera to destroy. Look for the only other camera on your radar and destroy it as well. To your right is a ladder. Climb down it to the ground floor and move ahead through the shadows, hugging the wall on the left, to plant the first bomb in this section. Then hug the wall and the shadows all the way around to the far side and plant that bomb. Then head back to the middle, up the stairs, and plant that bomb and then head through the door. There are some guys you can take out subtly here if you want to, but generally you don’t HAVE to.
Because you’ve been such a slacker already, the next section is stealth critical. Darts are definitely your friends in this area. Take out the two guys you see ahead of you, and distract and kill the guy on the ground floor if you can. Take out the camera above the two guards talking, then shoot them. With the silenced pistol, a headshot on one and a multi-tap to the torso on the other will keep things quiet. After that, head straight for the door and follow the marker to the elevator.
Feel free to kill the next guys with as much noise as you want, there’s no alarm. Then look for a hackable panel across from the door you need to enter. Open the safe to your left and then look for a panel with the electromagnetic scan. Hit that to open the globe for your evidence. Then head back to the elevator.
There’s a brief slo-mo chance to drop a few fools, and then a batch of guards shows up. A well-applied grenade is useful, and look for guys to get in behind you. Then follow the markers to rescue Pam.
Wow. I bet you never thought your video game career would culminate with you throwing down against Benicio Del Toro, huh? It’s hand-to-hand time.
Most of the rest of the level is run and gun through the burning plant. Lots of guys, but no real pinch points, and by now you should have a good gun for mowing them down with. Just keep on target and don’t let her fall behind.
The easiest way to protect Pam in the final room with the chopper is to get up on the catwalk where the control booth is. There’s a sniper rifle up here and you can protect her well from the elevated position. She will take guys out, but you won’t be able to move on until they’re all cleared. When she reaches the helicopter, head for the control booth and hit the button to escape.
Driving level! The controls are straightforward enough, just use them to not run into RPGs and it’s pretty easy. The parked hummers are VERY solid, however, so don’t bump into them or you’ll lose a lot of speed.
Things get a lot rougher when you get on top of the truck, as you can’t move, so you have to shoot fast to keep from getting killed. There’s two hummers to either side, shoot the gunner, and they explode. After that, you throw down with the final bad guy.
Die Another Day
Walk up to the contact at the bar and talk to her. Use the zoom (right trigger) function on your phone to take a picture of Graves. Then follow Jinx. Scan the code pad for the combination, and head into the room. Look for a case on the bed.
Now it’s time for some real bonding! You can take out the first dude with little repercussion, apparently no one cares about him. You can sneak past the next group of guys, but look up when you come out of the little pipe tunnel and find it. Wait for it to be facing away and then blow it with the EMP. Skip the guy and climb the ladder to enter the biodome.
You can drop down and crawl around in the creek for cover, but first look for the cameras on the screen and on the radar. It’s actually quite easy to drop guys one or two at a time and not get caught so long as you don’t let the cameras catch up with you. If you’re very patient, you can just as easily sneak all the way to where you need to be, taking out the cameras as you go.
In the next section, head around the bend and be prepared to pop a guy immediately. Then crouch and look forward to take out a camera. After that, head up the slope to your right and wait for the guard to come back across the bridge. On the other side of the bridge are two more guys. Drop them, then look to drop down off the right to where a console and another guy are. Drop him, then look through the “gate” to find another camera. Take it out, then head through and hang to the left. There’s only one guy up here, take him out, then follow the path all the way to the building. Look for two more cameras to destroy, and then approach slowly and be prepared to take out a few guys on your way to the door.
There are only five or six guys in the lobby space, and it’s easy enough to take them out without getting busted, just move fast. In the big computer room, look for two things to hack to open the next room. Before you enter the unlocked door, look to the left of it for some intel .
Head up the stairs through the door, and look for a guard or two. At the top of the stairs, look for a camera. In the next area, there’s about five guards, and they’re very spread out, so easy to take out one at a time. In the office, look at the box you examined earlier.
After that, you have a fist fight and a quick time event series to keep from getting lasered to death. Does it seem like this is a theme to anyone else?
After that, it’s a run and gun to escape the level. There are snipers, and LOTS of guys, and occasionally the giant frikkin’ laser shoots out of the sky. Other than that, it’s a snap. Well, not really, but there’s nothing more complicated to it than that. Look for the Commando and Masterson guns, they’re both very useful here.
Driving section! You’ll learn to use the d-pad to activate vehicle abilities like traction and weapons tracking. Otherwise, the driving is straightforward, avoid attacks, attack when you can. When you get to the final section, time is of the essence and if you hit any crates, you’ll likely fail. It takes some pattern recognition and learning, but the other thing is, if you get hit, lay off the accelerator for a second, and you’ll recover much quicker.
Once you’re on the plane, it’s very straightforward. However, your silenced gun will suck at this, as there are lots of armored guys coming up. A: take the silencer off by pressing right on the d-pad. B: grab a better gun as quickly as possible. When you reach your destination, approach the screen and interact with it. Tada!
Does this guy remind anyone of the Emperor from Jedi?In keeping with the movies, clearly Bond can’t solve any problems, not really, without his fists, so expect another fist fight. After that, simply follow the onscreen instructions to get away alive.
Moonraker
Look to your left for a camera. Then take things slow. There are few enough guys that you can avoid them by hugging the wall to your left, or taking them out one at a time. There’s a camera to take out above the door you’re heading to.
In the next room there are three guys. Follow the right wall to stay out of sight, and take out the right most guy first, then come back and take out the standing guy and the crouching guy. If you time it right, none of them will notice the others.
A big door will open, so seek cover outside the big room and get the lay of the land. There are only two guys to take out, which isn’t too challenging. Head up to the door they were guarding. Look to your left for another door you can open, and find a piece of bio intel . Follow the marker to meet your contact, another famous Bond girl. She’ll fill you in on the situation.
Head into the lab area, hit the switch on the consoles, and then photograph the tanks across the way. Head back the way you came for a little hand-to-hand action. There’s a cell phone to pick up on the console while you’re hanging around. Follow Holly into the formerly toxic lab. Look for an electro switch to flip, and then use the bio scanner to analyze the toxin. Then you will be attacked. Dur.
You’ll head back the way you came and face three guards. Easy. Then switch the bio scanner, follow the toxic trail, and get ready to kill a LOT more guys. There are some good guns lying around, and now would be the time to grab one. Some guards are armored, so head shots are helpful. Follow the path to the tracks, drop down and follow them around, and prepare for a slo-mo throwdown with five more guards. Climb onto the elevator platform and activate the switch to lower it. Will you be attacked from all sides as you descend VERY SLOWLY? Of course you will.
In the next hall, look for a camera ahead of you, and enter the room immediately to your right for some bio intel . In the next room, kill the guard ahead of you, then ruin the camera, then follow the second one into the room on the left. Take out that guard and go out the far side of the room to avoid being spotted and move on.
In the next room, use your electro scanning to find a hackable panel to open the next door. That raises the security, so head through the door right next to you instead. Look for a camera at the end of the hall, take it out. Enter the door on the right, take out three guys in white outfits (preferably with the tranq gun) and then head out the vent in the far end of the room. There are two wall panels here to deactivate guns. Once you do, your contact will call you back. Go bail her out, and enter the door that is now clear.
Scan the keyboard on Drax’s desk, then the books on his shelf. Pull out the marked book to open a safe. There’s a wall panel to open for some bio intel as well. Take the elevator up, and get ready to be sneaky. The darts are very handy here, as you need to clear out the bad guys for no apparent reason, but you’ll head up the stairs to a computer terminal. Take out the three guys in here and hack a panel. Then you’ll have to take out a patrol, then look for a wall panel to shut down a server. Hit the button on the right. Another patrol will come in after that and it’s VERY easy to set off an alarm and deal with a pile of guys. When you’re done, head out of the room.
Fist fight, of course. Then after that you’ll come to in a hazardous position. Use your electro scanner to find the power supply in the wall and deactivate it. Then you’ll head into the tunnels and break through a hatch. Be careful, if you delay AT ALL, including climbing poorly, you may not be able to escape at the end. Run as fast as you can.
Fastest space suit putting on ever! Shoot your way to the control center, where they are kind enough to give you a sniper rifle. Use it to good advantage, then Holly will send you to find a data thingeeto hack, hold off the bad guys while it runs, then do it again before you can escape.
Who wants a laser? Cuz now you can get one. Fight your way along the gantry walkways (look for a guy above with an RPG). Consider using the sniper rifle and progressing slowly to keep from getting beaten down. There’s really no easy way to get through this section, there’s a lot of guys, and it’s a grind. Right after the beginning there are a few grenades you can pick up on a box on your left, they’ll help. On the other side, you’ll reach a helicopter.
From the chopper you’ll cover Holly with the gun (a weak one, sadly) while she flies to the shuttle. Look for the RPG guys and barrels before you sweat the laser troopers. And then you’re on a spaceship!
And now you’re doing Bond things…in space! Take out the targets in the room so Holly can move on. Alerts are easy to trigger, so be ready to be fast on the draw with your dart pen. In the next room you only need to take out as many guys as it takes to get to the marker and head down in the elevator, which is good, because your dart supply is limited. Using the laser is a very easy way to draw a lot of heat and lose the mission.
In the third room, you should be able to creep up on the guards and subdue them one at a time. I don’t know about you, but I don’t remember Moonraker being this AWESOME.
Stick with Holly to reach the “pod” room. Look through the floor to identify the serial number on the pod removed, then find the corresponding terminal for the first symbol, and enter the three-digit code. In concept this is easy, but the speed at which you do it isn’t very forgiving. After all that, there’s a space fight! Very Ender’s Game. Cover is hard to come by, so keep moving. There will be two waves of bad guys. Then you head into the air lock. Go outside, blow up three guns, look out for guards, then head back the way you came.
Follow the markers and kill a LOT of floating space guys. Then you’ll be out in open space and have to reenter the pod bay. Take out each of the six arms there, you can hit them in the glow part. After the first one, they start up two at a time and it’s very hard to take them all out in good time. Hold the trigger down for very fast auto fire. There are two windows when you can shoot each arm. If you drop the ball, you can take out the pod it drops, but that will hurt you when it releases poison. After the arms are clear, you will need to plant a bomb at the top of the area and you’re all bonded out!
After you throw Drax out into space, of course.
