Mob of the Dead
Afterlife
Once you have been killed in Mob of the Dead, a new feature called Afterlife allows you to continue moving around the map as a ghostly form. Entering this mode during gameplay gives you access to abilities and areas that are unavailable to the living.
Using Afterlife provides two special abilities: Shock and Levitate. The power to shock allows you to defeat surrounding zombies or restore power to generators that can open doors to new areas and items. The levitating ability can boost you up through secret entry points that can not be reached in human form.
You are initially provided with a limited number of chances to enter Afterlife. You can replenish your supply during battle, but if they are ever depleted completely, the match will end.
While experiencing Afterlife, keep an eye on the symbol at the bottom of your screen as the color slowly drains out of it. You will need to return to human form before the icon is empty to avoid losing the match permanently.
You have the option to enter Afterlife voluntarily by approaching the red electrical boxes scattered throughout the area or allow it to happen naturally from a zombie attack. To exit the Afterlife, locate your soulless body sitting on the floor and press the indicated button to return to human form.
Parts
In order to create the Acid Gat, you’ll need the Blundergat and the three kit parts located in the Infirmary, the Warden’s Office and on Broadway Block. Your new weapon then be assembled at the workbench on Broadway Block’s third floor.
After collecting the plane parts from the bottom floor of Broadway Block, the Dock, the Citadel Tunnel, the Warden’s Office, the Infirmary and the Shower Room, make your way up to the large construction platform at the center of the Roof. Press the indicated button to construct the plane and fly to the Golden Gate Bridge, where you can access Pack-A-Punch and return to the prison via the electric chairs.
Once you have collected the three Zombie Shield parts from the Dock and the Citadel Tunnel’s generator room and spiral staircase, the entire piece can be constructed using the workbench located on the Dock.
Initial Cellblock and Library Area
The first area consists of a narrow cellblock and a wider library room. Fall back into the less restrictive library to use its entrance as a choke point and eliminate the larger packs of zombies that funnel through it with more ease.
In the initial cell block and library area, each of the two rooms has a pair of barriers that will require your attention.
If you are having trouble finding your next destination, return to the initial cellblock where the match began and use the map beside the hole in the wall as a guide to get where you’re going.
Broadway Block
Move through the cage in the library to gain access to the second floor of “Broadway” area of the cellblock and you’ll find the Hellhound on the right side wall.
Once you have acquired the electrified key from Michigan Block and gained access to the Broadway Block’s third floor, head left to cross a narrow metal bridge that leads into a green room and open the door inside that leads to the Infirmary.
Plane Part: Enter Afterlife using the electrical box in the far left corner of Broadway Block’s ground floor, then pass through the secret portal beside the staircase to reach the area inside the walls. Jump forward up the pipes in front of you and turn around at the end to leap onto the next ledge above, then shock the generator ahead on the right to remove power to the area. Exit the area between the wall and levitate up through the hidden portal above on the right, then overload the generator and return to your human body to collect the key part that has descended by the Warden’s Office nearby.
After entering the ground floor of Broadway Block, turn the corner on the left to find a fred electrical box and put your back to it. With enough ammo, this area can successfully be used as a choke point for a long period of time by eliminating the zombies that approach from the one access point in front of you.
On the ground floor of the Broadway Block, there is a generator at one of the room that can be shocked during afterlife to open a door on the left with a 2X item inside.
Acid Gat Part: Across from the electrical box on the ground floor of Broadway Block, you’ll find a part of the Acid Gat kit.
Michigan Block
On the ground floor of the “Michigan” cellblock area, you’ll find a Fan Trap at one end of the corridor and a generator on the other. Approach the electrical box across from the trap to enter the Afterlife, then shock the generator to open the cell door directly on your left that house the 2X item.
When you have entered the afterlife in the “Michigan” cellblock area, face the fan trap to levitate up through the hole in the chain link wall above and shock the consoles to overload them until the key outside drops down.
Infirmary
Plane Part: Navigate through the Infirmary to reach an area with meathooks hanging from the ceiling and the Uzi available for purchase, then approach the display case in the corner and unlock it with the previously electrified key to collect the plane part within.
Acid Gat Part: Within the Infirmary is a washroom with a single bathtub inside, where you can collect a part for the Acid Gat kit on the table beside it.
If you are ever under heavy attack inside the Infirmary, approach the display case where the plane part was located and activate the hellhound in the corner across from it.
Enter the room marked “Roof” adjacent to the Infirmary and face the entrance to use it as a choke point that can also be protected by a hellhound.
You can purchase Deadshot by restoring power to the generator in the small room marked “Roof” that’s adjacent to the Infirmary.
Cafeteria
In the cafeteria you will find a Random Weapon box, claymores and an Acid Trap. There are three entry points that need to be covered and stairwell door at the front of the room.
Enter the cafeteria to fight the more resilient enemy hordes that appear, then collect a supply of claymore located nearby and drop them as you run away from these enemies by traveling in a circle around the room. Allow the pursuing threat to sprint through the trail of claymores you leave behind to eliminate him quickly.
The cafeteria is a safe place to hold down during the later rounds as it provides a variety of traps, weapon options and claymore devices. There is also enough room to run evasively around it in a circle while fending off the zombie invasion.
Citadel Tunnels
In the Citadel Tunnel, you will find Double-Tap and a Random Weapon box within the first few initial rooms.
Open the door adjacent to the Random Weapon box inside the Citadel Tunnel, then descend the spiral staircase on the other side to unlock the cage at the bottom with the three generators inside. Return to the top of the stairs to enter the Afterlife and make your way quickly back down to the bottom, then shock the generators from left to right by giving them a certain number of electricity blasts in this order: 3-9-0.
Plane Part: After entering the 3-9-0 code in the generators at the bottom of the Citadel Tunnel’s spiral staircase, open the door beside them to continue descending quickly through the building and make your first available left turn into the elevator cage below to collect the plane part inside.
The wide brick corridor at the end of the Citadel Tunnels is perfect for running back and forth across during heavy zombie invasions. Shoot the enemies with a powerful close range weapon while on the move to cover the entry points at both ends.
At the end of the Citadel Tunnel is a room full of generator consoles on the right and a gate that exits into an outside area on the left. Jugger-Nog is available in the outside area once you restore power to the generator via the electrical box at the top of the steps beside it.This area is also a connecting point to the Docks.
Zombie Shield Part: After passing through the second entryway from the bottom of the spiral staircase with the Citadel Tunnels, turn around to find a Shield part hiding behind the wall.
Plane Part: At the end of the Citadel Tunnel is a room full of generator consoles on the right and a gate that exits into an outside area on the left. Enter Afterlife inside the generator room to pass through the nearby hidden portal and overload the terminal around the next corner. Return to the previous area and overload all surrounding generators to unlock the small room housing a plane part in the Warden’s Office.
Zombie Shield Part: Search the shelves within the generator room at the end of the Citadel Tunnels to find a part of the Zombie Shield. If you’re facing the room from the outside, it should be located behind the rightmost brick column.
The Dock
There is a Random Weapon box, a construction table, a Tower Trap and a Hellhound located at opposite ends from one another on the Dock. The Hellhound and table can be found closer to the wall of the building in the back right corner, whereas the box and trap are located nearer to the water in the other corner.
Plane Part: Open the chain link gate at the far end of the Dock to shock the generator on the other side and unlock another entry point, then return to human form to collect the plane part that is now available.
The Dock can be easily guarded with an automatic weapon for mowing down large zombie crowds, while also using the Tower Trap and Hellhound to cover both corners. The wide L-shaped pathway is ideal for crossing from one end to the other and turning around each time to funnel the swarm into one cohesive group that can eliminated quickly.
Zombie Shield Part: Across from the random weapon box and in front of the sniper tower on the Dock, you’ll find a part of the Zombie Shield.
Warden’s Office
Acid Gat Part: In the Warden’s Office, enter the room adjacent to where the Random Weapon box is located to pick up a part of the Acid Gat kit.
Shower Room
Plane Part: Enter Afterlife in the Shower Room and cross to the caged area at the opposite end of the hall to shock the generator, then revive yourself to activate the dryer in front of the previous generator and wait for the cycle to end. Equip a powerful weapon and stay on the move to survive the onslaught of zombies that appear during the dryer’s cycle, then collect the plane part that appears inside the machine.

Strategic Hints and Tips
This map is primarily divided into an open staging area at its center and a surrounding seating section along its edge. Move quickly between the cover points when traveling through the staging area to avoid any potential sniper posted up in the buildings around the seating section.
There is a crawlspace located beneath the stage that can be used as a choke point, if you position yourself correctly against one of the corners inside, or it can provide a quick escape route between the opposite sections of the stadium.
Enter the building marked “Section Two” and plant an explosive device, such as a claymore, below the window to close it off as an access point, then face the room’s entrance to open fire on opponents that pass in front of it. This should provide you with assured protection until an enemy tosses a grenade into the room or you are no longer able to rig a trap by the window.
Avoid lingering inside the concession area for too long. There are too many access points spaced inconveniently around the room for you to observe at once and there is minimal cover provided inside.
The stairwell inside the building marked Stage 18 can be used as an effective sneak-attack location by ascending onto the landing between the two sets of steps and crouching down in the corner with the dislodged wall panel.
Run across the top of the stage only as a means of travel or escape. It is the most exposed area on the map from most angles and can easily be targeted for air strikes at any time.
With your back to the stage, approach the steps on the right by slowly creeping around the corner at the bottom and use the small trashcan as cover to open fire on the unsuspecting enemies that pass by above.
Equip a scoped weapon and place a sentry gun in front of or behind the entrance to Section Two, then cover the room’s window by sniping the enemies that cross through the staging area below. This tactic can also be executed by placing the sentry gun in front of the window while you cover the outer corridor.
When calling in an air-strike of any kind, target the open staging area at the map’s center to improve your odds of success.
Find the outside staircase that leads up to a large sign that reads “Cafe” and stand directly to the left of the top of these steps, then crouch down to eliminate enemies that ascend beside you or are currently exiting the restaurant.
Crouching at the top or bottom of the stairwell within the concession stand is an ideal way to turn this location into an ambush spot against enemies passing by outside.
By standing against the broken mirrors above the sinks inside the restroom, you can pick off enemies passing through the structure without being seen.
You can drop through an opening in the glass-paneled railing outside the cafe’s entrance to access a narrow choke point below. By staying hidden in this small walkway, you can pick off enemies entering the nearby building.
Due to the small size and variety of ambush points available on this map, the U.A.V. might be the most effective piece of equipment to have at your disposal.
A useful ambush spot can be utilized by crouching behind the table against the booth seating area inside the cafe.
Near the concession stand entrance that faces the seating section, there is a small alcove against the wall that’s surrounded by obstacles and can be used as an effective ambush location.
Vertigo
Strategic Hints and Tips
Be wary of passing through the automatic doors marked with a clue symbol, as they can alert nearby enemies to your presence.
Despite the larger size of this map, there are so many scattered obstacles and hallways with tight corners that a sub-machine gun or even a shotgun may be more useful here than other weapons.
Pass through the exit adjacent to the restrooms and make a left up the ramp on the outside rooftop, then approach the red metal bridge ahead and jump down into the open windows below it as a means of escape or quick access back into the building.
When traveling across the map’s rooftop exterior, move quickly between the surrounding field of obstacles at all times to avoid exposure and reach your target safely.
A well-aimed smoke grenade can chase enemies away from the cover provided by the obstacles around the exterior or from the small rooms surrounding the interior of the building.
Enter the room on the first floor with a small robot walker displayed under glass and circle around it continuously as a means of cover while you eliminate the enemies that pass through each of the available doorways.
As a means of reaching the outside rooftop more quickly, move into the small area across from the elevator doors and jump through the window to climb the red metal ladder.
Crouch down in front of the large air conditioning that faces the red metal bridge and open fire on any approaching enemies. This is a useful choke point as the bridge is the only way to reach your side of the rooftop and the AC unit will shield you against enemies approaching from behind.
Place a sentry gun against near one of the corners within the circular interior of the building’s lobby so that it is protected on both sides by a pillar and a wall.
Make a left from the helipad to approach a green-striped building marked 74 and move to its right side corner, then drop onto the narrow ledge you see below to access a secret route that runs along the outermost edge of the map.
Stay crouched down and equip a scoped weapon while traveling through the circular interior of the building. This will allow you to remain covered behind the small glass railing panels and pick off the enemies on the opposite side of the landing.
You can stand safely in the entrance room with automatic doors by putting your back to them and firing at enemies who pass through the outside rooftop. Listen for the automatic doors to open so that you can quickly turn around on any approaching enemies.
Crouch down between the two obstacles surrounding the top of the ladder on the red metal bridge. You can easily ambush passersby, but will be vulnerable from attacks that come from the broken window below.
There is a conference room located near a large tree that’s been planted along the edge of the outside rooftop. You can hide in the corners of this room, while keeping an eye on the entrance and the outside balcony that can only be accessed by dropping down onto it from above.
Due to the small size and variety of ambush points available on this map, the U.A.V. might be the most effective piece of equipment to have at your disposal.

Strategic Hints and Tips
One useful chokepoint can be found inside the old west area’s Saloon by posting up against a corner located beside either of the two open doorways.
There is a wooden cart beside the mine tunnel entrance that you can take cover behind to eliminate enemies that pass through.
This map’s layout is nearly identical to a multiplayer level called Firing Range that was available in the first Black Ops game. Most of the same strategies that were useful in the original map can be applied here as well.
Depending on where you are currently located on this map, both long-range and short range weaponry can prove to be useful for success. The second floors of the surrounding structures usually provide an open window for sniping, whereas the large variety of obstacles and narrow enclosures on the ground are better suited for close combat.
Look for the ladder on the vined wall next to the drawbridge of the medieval castle area. It leads up into a sniper perch that can be used to pick off enemies running across the ground below, perhaps on their way to pick up the flag located nearby.
Use the hay bale to enter the second floor of the barn set, then stand watch above the staircase that leads into this area and eliminate any approaching enemies.
Enter the building below the crate that contains a fake shark and find the room decorated with green screens, then crouch in the corner that overlooks both entry points and take out the hostiles that pass through.
Due to the high number of outside pathways that are necessary for traveling around this map, the best killstreaks to equip are airstrikes such as the Hellstorm Missile or the Lodestar.
When approaching the moving target areas, stop before entering the narrow pathway to eliminate any possible oncoming enemies and proceed between the walls in the road to avoid sudden ambushes.
Flag C should be approach from the saloon or from the barn, as they provide the most cover and elevated positioning to clear the area of opposing forces first.
When a new battle begins, take cover near the mine shaft entrance so that you have a line of sight on the wagon beside it, then shoot the barrels inside the cart to detonate a massive explosion and kill enemies in the vicinity with a single bullet.
Inside the mine tunnel is a small alcove dug into the wall that you can use as a prime location for ambushing opponents that pass through.
This map is ideal for laying down mines and other explosives. Choose locations with narrow pathways and tight corners, such as the mine tunnel or the model cityscape behind it.
Take cover behind the flatbed cart in the pirate set, so that your back is to the water, and open fire on enemies that use the entry points on either side of you, while maintaining minimal exposure.
Approach the corner in the road that faces the T-Rex robot with caution, as there is heavy foot traffic on this path and there are multiple lines of sight on it from elevated positions.
Magma
Strategic Hints and Tips
Stay on the move at all times when traveling through the outside street area and duck between the surrounding obstacles as you go. There are multiple directions to cover and the line of sight on your location can extend to various distances and angles, making this a high-risk area.
Avoid touching the areas of this map covered in red-hot magma, as this particular aspect of the environment has the ability to kill you immediately.
There is a partially destroyed subway train that you can pass through near the edge of the map with two entry points. By covering one with an explosive trap, you can crouch in the middle of the car and take out enemies that arrive through the opposite end.
A scoped automatic rifle is ideal for the mid-range combat that occurs on the outside streets, especially when rounding corners to surprise approaching enemies. A shotgun or other high-powered weapon is preferable for the close-quarter battles that happen in the surrounding structures.
There is an open window inside the bank building that overlooks a large section of the main upper and lower outside area. This opening can be used as a means of quick escape or as a temporary sniper perch.
Look for the corners, archways and other entryways that lead out onto the streets. Approach these connecting points slowly from a covered angle and eliminate enemies you see crossing through the open area outside.
Look for the fiery footprints across from the sushi bar and hop over the railing behind them to access the narrow walkway that bridges the large pool of lava below.
Due to the high number of outside pathways that are necessary for traveling around this map, the best killstreaks to equip are airstrikes such as the Hellstorm Missile or the Lodestar.
Use the white Eco vans parked sideways in front of the tunnel as cover to eliminate enemies exiting the enclosure.
When entering the sushi bar from the second story, jump over the railing to land on the floor below rather than descending the stairs so that you can get the drop on any hostiles in the area.
There is a rock bridge outside the window of the subway car near the lava that can be used as a quick escape route should you find yourself under attack.
Use the circular seating column within the subway station as cover whenever you cross through the building to avoid attacks from enemies approaching from the opposite entrance.
You can jump onto the bent street sign that’s submerged in the lava pool outside the crashed subway train. By crouching down with a scoped weapon, you can pick off enemies exiting the nearby building or cross through the train cars.
