Halo: The Master Chief Collection is an upcoming and highly anticipated compilation of the massively popular Halo series of video games that will collect Halo 1,2,3 and 4 on the Xbox One. Halo: The Master Chief Collection will include the already remastered Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition but will also include the brand new Halo 2 Anniversary Edition which like the Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition will be a fully remastered version of Halo 2.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is being developed by 2 development parties which are 343 Industries (the current IP holder) and Certain Affinity, a team comprised primarily of ex-Bungie employees, Certain Affinity had a hand in developing the Multiplayer portion of the Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition.
Being published by Microsoft Studios, Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be coming exclusively to the Xbox One on November 11th of 2014 in the United States and November 14th of 2014 in the United Kingdom.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection was announced at E3 alongside the announcement that the collection would be launching alongside the Halo 5 beta.
With the focus of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection being the bundled Halo 2 Anniversary Edition, the two development teams have been working on remastering and improving the classic Xbox first person shooter for the next generation of Xbox Consoles and gamers. The release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection is being released to coincide with the 10th anniversary of Halo 2.
Max Hoberman, the original multiplayer designer behind Halo 2 will be returning to develop the newly remastered multiplayer stages. Halo 2’s cut scenes are being remastered and improved by Blur with Halo 2’s cinematics completely redone.
343 will be improving the overall UI and interfaces as well as working on improving the Online Networking given that Halo 2 was the biggest online FPS for quite some time. Certain Affinity will be working on the Halo 2 Multiplayer portion of the compilation, similar to what they done with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection collects the four main storyline halo games in the franchise to date, excluding Halo ODST and Halo: Reach from the compilation. This means the stories of the ODST soldiers (orbital drop shock trooper) in the Kenyan city of New Mombasa in Halo ODST and the Spartan warriors of Noble Team on the human colony word of Reach will go untold.
The main line story of the Halo video games (one through four) is initially focused on the Covenant Invasion that sees humanity pushed to the precipice of extinction by war. The Master Chief – John 117 (now promoted to Master Chief Special Warfare Operator of the Navy) is woken from cryo sleep when the UNSC (The United Nation Space Command) cruiser, Pillar of Autumn encounters a ring world named Halo, after leaving slip space.
They are engaged by the Covenant fleet and take heavy damage, thus forcing an emergency landing. Following procedure, the captain of the ship begins the Cole Protocol (a system wide purge of all data that could further put humanity at risk). Trusting the Master Chief with the ships AI Cortana, the Chief begins to explore the ring world and begins to engage in a guerilla war with the forces of the Covenant.
After locating a party of now dead Marines that had ventured into a jungle region and observing their helmet cam footage, the Chief becomes aware of a parasitic enemy known as The Flood that consume all bio matter. Later informed by the ring worlds AI guardian, Guilty Spark of the Halo’s true nature, the Chief decides to destroy the ring before the Covenant can activate it.
The Halo ring is one of an array that will kill all sentient life in the galaxy, thus starving the flood of their food source. However, the leaders of the Covenant believe that this will begin a religious journey to God-hood.
With the destruction of the Halo ring, the Master Chief escapes towards Earth to “Finish the Fight” with the covenant, carrying with him the moniker of “Demon”.
Thus begins the Human / Covenant / Flood War of Halo 1-2-3.
Halo 4 introduces the player to the Didact, fore runner forces and the rampancy of AI.
Halo is a first person shooter set in a futuristic environment that makes use of a rebounding shield and health regeneration. Halo: Combat Evolved makes use of the same rebounding shield but players can only regenerate health by using health kits. The player may only carry two weapons at any given time and in Halo 3 & 4 may make use of turrets removed from their mounts. Halo 2 and 3 allow players to dual wield select weapons, but this feature was removed in Halo 4. Halo 3 and 4 gives the players access to skills that can be picked up that buff player abilities with thing such as the bubble shield or the jump pack.
Given the success and gameplay improvements made in each iteration of the Halo franchise, gameplay mechanics differ from game to game.
Given the extensive roster of characters in the vast Halo franchise, this wiki will cover the two main characters of the series.
Master Chief Special Warfare Operator of the Navy / John 117: The Master Chief is the last remaining and most genius of the Spartan warriors that were created in the Spartan II program. Often said to be lucky, John is a loyal soldier that will sacrifice all he needs to in an effort to save humanity.
Cortana: Cortana is an AI of human creation that was modelled on Dr. Halsey, the creator/head of operations on the Spartan II program and was the person that chose John for the Spartan Program. Cortana has accumulated much of humanities knowledge as well as a great deal of alien information. Assisting the Chief in his missions, Cortana has become very close friends with John and values his safety just as highly as her need to succeed.
Note: This wiki will be updated once we have more information about the game.
