New Super Mario Bros 2 – World 3 Star Coins Locations Guide

Here is the star coin locations guide for World 3.  World three in New Super Mario Bro’s 2 is mostly composed of water levels since the boss on this level Wendy Koopa is a water type koopa.  There are a total of 11 levels in this world with a total of 8 levels having water.  Since Mario reacts slower when swimming players generally have a harder time playing the water levels and may have to go through each level multiple times to get all the star coins.

 Note that in this world there is a Warp Canon level.  These levels do not have any Star coins to collect.

 World 3-1 Star Coin Locations

World 3-1 Star Coin 1 Location – The first star coin is located above 2 barrels floating in the water,  To get this star coin wait for a cheep cheep to fly out of the water.  When he is at a decent level jump off the cheep cheep to grab the coin.

 World 3-1 Star Coin 2 Location – The Second star coin is located in a hidden area.  You can access this area above a L shaped pipe just above the first triple rotating platform you see.  Watch out for the Piranha in that pipe, either get rid of it with Raccoon Mario or wait for it to go back into its pipe before entering the hidden area.

 World 3-1 Star Coin 3 Location – The third star coin is hidden under some floating barrels between some pipes.  Jump on the barrel and sink down to grab the coin but watch out for pesky Cheep Cheep’s.

 

World 3-2 Star Coin Locations

World 3-2 Star Coin 1 Location – The first star coin is almost a give me just after the third pipe.  Swim through the caterpillar blocks to get the coin.

 World 3-2 Star Coin 2 Location – The second star coin is located in a hidden area.  To access the area go into a yellow pipe standing by itself surrounded by a bunch of green blocks.  When inside watch out for a spiky cheep cheep.  If you still have your Fire Mario power you got at the beginning of the level use it to get rid of this annoying little enemy.

 World 3-2 Star Coin 3 Location – The third star coin is floating just before the exit point.  You need to time your swim right to grab the coin,  make sure when you start the Urchin is at the bottom and you are at the top.

 

World 3-3 Star Coin Locations

World 3-3 Star Coin 1 Location – The first star coin is located in a hidden area.  At the first ! switch you see activate it to create a temporary platform under you.  Enter the yellow pipe to the left.  Once you enter the pipe hit the blocks to find another ! switch.  Activate it to create a temporary platform, once you get to the end you need to quickly jump on the spiders back and ride it to grab the star coin.  You need to do all this before the temporary platform disappears.

 World 3-3 Star Coin 2 Location – The second star coin is also located in a hidden area.When you see a large gap with a spider on each end and 2 webs in the middle you are at the hidden location.  Above the second spider there is a Yellow L shaped pipe, use the spider to access that area. Once you are in the hidden area you will need to activate the ! switch and again use the spider to get the star coin.

 World 3-3 Star Coin 3 Location – The third star coin this one is near the end of the level, just use the spider webs to grab the coin.

 

World 3-Tower Star Coin Locations

World 3-Tower Star Coin 1 Location – The first star coin is located in a hidden area at the beginning of the level.  At the platform with 2 question boxes above it and fishbones swimming in the water underneath, jump into the water and lure the fishbones to the right wall then jump over and swim to the left wall underneath the platform.  There is a small hole there you can drop down.

 World 3-Tower Star Coin 2 Location – The Second star coin is located on the right hand side near the top of the moving slabs.  When the fishbones are not looking grab the coin.

 World 3-Tower Star Coin 3 Location – The third star coin is located in a hidden area (a series of four pipes 2 blue on the right and a green and blue on the left with a red ring in between), after you activate and complete the red ring go into the green pipe to the left.

 

World 3-4 Star Coin Locations

World 3-4 Star Coin 1 Location – The first star coin is in plain view floating above a Wiggler,  Jump off the Wiggler to grab the coin.

 World 3-4 Star Coin 2 Location – The Second star coin is also in plain view under a dirt platform,  you need to time this perfectly when the purple water drops to its lowest point take a run for the coin and run back as quickly as you can before the water rises again.

 World 3-4 Star Coin 3 Location – The third star coin is again in plain view,  use the crate just before the star coin to make a running wall jump to grab the coin.

 

World 3-Boo House Star Coin Locations

World 3-Boo House Star Coin 1 Location – The first star coin is located above a platform with a boo and some peepa’s.  Turn your back to the boo to draw it away from the star coin, when Boo is in place face him and wait for the platform to start shaking, when it does jump up and grab the star coin.

 World 3- Boo House Star Coin 2 Location – The second star coin is floating between three doors.  Use the platforms at the bottom of the room to ride up and grab the coin.

 World 3- Boo House Star Coin 3 Location – The third star coin is located in the door to the furthest right (the area where you grabbed the second star coin).  Use the platforms and avoid the Boo to get the coin.

 

World 3-5 Star Coin Locations

World 3-5 Star Coin 1 Location – The first star coin is located near the top of the incline (from the start of the level) on the top left hand side.  Just on the ledge there is a boulder.  Use the boulder to break the enclosure surrounding the star coin.

 World 3-5 Star Coin 2 Location – The second star coin is located in a hidden area,  the first yellow pipe after the boulder is the entrance to the secret area where the coin is located.

 World 3-5 Star Coin 3 Location – The third starcoin is located to the top left inside an enclosure of blue un-breakable bricks.  Swim past the star coin until a boulder appears.  Swim backwards and hide under the green pipe and let the boulder destroy the enclosure to get access to the coin.

 

World 3-Castle Star Coin Locations

World 3-Castle Star Coin 1 Location – The first star coin is located on the left hand side of the screen.  There is a 2 brick platform there and if you jump up it activates a hidden block with a 1-up.  Grab the 1-up and use the block to grab the coin.

 World 3- Castle Star Coin 2 Location – The second star coin is in plain view as you progress through the level.  You need good timing here to stomp the dry bones an grab the coin before the grinders come back.

 World 3- Castle Star Coin 3 Location – The third star coin is in a hidden room just past the double doors to get to the boss.  If you go to your right at the wall and jump there is a hidden block.  Use that block to jump up onto the ledge and continue to the right to get the star coin and a bunch of bonus coins.

 

 World 3-A Star Coin Locations

World 3-A Star Coin 1 Location – The first star coin is floating above a platform as you play through the level, its pretty hard to miss,  just swim up there and grab the coin (you need to be accurate since there is a strong current).

 World 3-A Star Coin 2 Location – The second star coin is located in one of the lower areas after you get out of the red pipe that you are required to enter to progress through the level.  Hit the ? switch to release the current and swim down to get the star coin.

 World 3-A Star Coin 3 Location – Again the third star coin is easy to see.. but because of the current you need to position yourself high enough that when the current pushes you through you just grab the coin on the way by.  There are a bunch of urchins there so make sure you are not to high.

 

World 3-B Star Coin Locations

World 3-B Star Coin 1 Location – The first star coin is located above the water, you need to jump off the koopa troopa just before the coin to grab it.

 World 3-B Star Coin 2 Location – Since this level is pretty much geared towards mini Mario you will need him to get the second coin.  You will see a green pipe sandwiched between two grey rock slabs.  Jump off the koopa troopa to the above platform and enter the pipe.  Once you are in the secret area you will need to do a series of jumps off of the bullet bills to grab the coin.

 World 3-B Star Coin 3 Location – The third star coin is located just near the end of this area where you are required to go in a red pipe.  Use the brick platforms to jump up to the coin before it goes out of reach.
