In Assassins Creed 3 the Fast Travel Network is one of the most important movement systems in the game.  The Fast Travel Network allows you to skip between destinations on the map and literally save you hours of time it would have taken you to move through the map manually by foot.  This is a great option when moving from one region to another as its instant vs 30 minutes of trekking through terrain and jumping through trees.

Fast Travel isn’t used in the first couple sequences but as you progress through the game new fast travel icons will appear on the map you can then fast travel instantly between those fast travel locations.  Some fast travel locations will move you short distances while some will move you longer distances even to other regions.

To Fast travel in Assassins Creed 3 use the menu bu Pressing Left Arrow < / Select.  This will bring up the main map, all you have to do is select your fast travel point and select it.  Fast travel locations are identified by Icons and there are 6 icons that identify these locations seen below: Boston, New York, Harbormasters, Homestead, Frontier Gateway and Fast Travel Destinations.

So how do you get fast travel locations?  Well there are a few ways.  Some fast travel locations will automatically be unlocked as you progress through the game or through just exploring the map entirely these icons can be found and unlocked without doing anything other then locating them.  Harbormaster fast travel icons are unlocked when you complete the Boston’s Most Wanted.   In both the Boston and New York regions you can unlock more fast travel locations by exploring the underground tunnels (marked by a Fast Travel Icon) there are a total of 10 fast travel locations that can be unlocked in Boston and New York underground tunnels.
