New Super Mario Bros U Boss Battles Guide Part 1

Just like in the most recent Super Mario Bros, at the end of every world you’ll have to face one of the koopalings after an intense castle stage. You’ll need a precise strategy to get rid of them and as always, we’re here to help you defeat all the bosses in the game and rescue Peach easily.

• Lemmy Koopa

Lemmy Koopa is the first Koopaling you’ll encounter, boss of the Acorn Plains World. He uses bombs against Mario and moves around using his ball. His projectile attack is very slow and easy to avoid; he also uses bombs that will gradually get bigger in size. Overall this battle is not so hard: avoid his attacks, get some running distance and jump on his head three times. Another strategy is that you can concentrate on avoiding all attacks until he’s near the wall and use a wall jump to get over him.

• Morton Koopa

Morton Koopa is the boss of the second world, Layer Cake Desert. He’s armed with a hammer which he uses to fire projectiles at Mario. During most of the battle you’ll have to be careful in avoiding the Pokeys: he’ll use the hammer to throw them at you. It’s not so hard avoiding them: they can be launched in a straight line or in an arc but standing on the edge of the platform will give you plenty of room to maneuver. To attack Morton you’ll have to wait until he’s launched all the Pokey to be able to reach Morton with a jump. You can even take a risk and wait until the last one is left to save some time, even though it’s not really needed, just have a bit of patience and you’ll be all right.

• Larry Koopa

Larry Koopa is the boss of World 3, Sparkling Waters and he’s supposed to be the youngest of the Koopalings. This boss battle is pretty straightforward: just avoid the projectiles and jump on his head three times. The only variations during the fight are the position of the water sprouts: if you’re quick enough you can gain the upper ground and watch Larry hopelessly move below you, waiting to be stomped on his head. This is probably the easiest boss battle in the game.
