Persona 4 Golden Second Playthrough Bonuses Guide

Seeing the ending of the game in a modern RPG doesn’t mean the game is over: it just means more stuff gets unlocked for the next playthrough. Persona 4 Golden has a bunch of secrets and some of them are only available from the second playthrough. Some more secrets are available from the first playthrough as well, with a couple of new secrets exclusive to the PsVita port.

  • New Game Plus

It’s not really a secret, but knowing somethings beforehand can make your second playthrough even more enjoyable. After the game’s over, you’ll get the chance to make a new save which will be used to start your new playthrough. There are some things you’ll be carrying into the next game: the main character’s stats, the Persona Compendium, items from Maxed Social Links, Money and the max number of Personas you can carry will be at 12 right from the start. There’s a trick in getting the best amount of money possible: right before the end game you can sell all the items before facing the final boss, since regular items won’t get carried into New Game Plus.

  • The Reaper

Not really a second playthrough exclusive: you may have already met The Reaper during your first playthrough if you have stayed on the same floor for a long time. During your second playthrough, the Reaper will have a chance to appear while opening chests: you’ll be warned before hand so that you won’t be forced to fight him if you don’t want to.

  • Margareth

On your second playthrough you will get an extra item from Igor in the Velvet Room if you’re on the true ending path: with the Invitation Card you can head to Heaven and battle Margareth. In order to get the item a few conditions must be met:

  • Completed the game already with the true ending
  • The Empress Social Link must be maxed before the Magatsu Inaba dungeon.
  • All the bosses before Adachi must have been defeated
  • To get the item from Igor you have to visit the Velvet Room before entering the TV to reach the Yomotsu Hirasaka Final Dungeon.

The battle against Margareth is quite hard: we’ll be covering some basic strategies in another guide. The dialogue before the battle also has some interesting information, connecting Persona 4 with Persona 3.

  • Izanagi No Ookami

After completing the game with the true ending, you’ll be able to fuse the only Persona available for the World Arcana. This persona requires 12 personas in the fusion and cannot be recorded in the compendium so you better keep it after you have created it. The required personas for the fusion are:

  • Izanagi
  • SandMan
  • Nata Taishi
  • Girimehkala
  • Norn
  • Okuninushi
  • Orthrus
  • Kartikeya
  • Mithra
  • Tzitzimitl
  • Cu Chulain
  • Legion
