Aiden Pearce is a man with many enemies in Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs, who you need to be able to take down efficiently. We learn early on in the game that he’s a lonely kind of guy, but he also has a habit of setting people into shooting frenzies. Prowling the streets of Chicago you’ll come across many of Aiden’s foes, read our following guide to the enemy types in Watch Dogs and you’ll never be totally caught off guard by a foe (obviously we can’t help it if you get distracted and surprised, pay attention!) Aiden’s enemies in Watch Dogs can be divided into faction members, those who take the illegal path of life, and police officers, who consider Aiden a vigilante. You could do your best to avoid these characters while playing Watch Dogs, but at some point you will eventually have to face them. Will you be ready for the likes of an Enforcer?
Faction Members:
Gunman
The Gunman will be the most common type of opponent you face in Watch Dogs. Although they have strength in numbers, this enemy is rather basic and can be easily dealt with. Spot the Gunman with their single-arrow insignia.
Veteran
The Veteran’s insignia is a double-arrow chevron and for good reason. Veterans are a step up from the Gunman, causing you more trouble as more seasoned foes. Veterans carry more advanced weapons than the Gunman too, but both carry Frag Grenades, which you can use too with the help of our Crafting Skills guide here.
Elite
At the top of the Watch Dogs Faction Members tree you’ll come up against the Elites. These opponents will need you to be more skillful and capable to defeat. Not only are they fiercer foes than the Gunman and Veteran, the Elite also turn up wearing armor which can endure heavy onslaught. Brace yourself when faced against these enemies with the star insignia.
Enforcer
If you find the Elite tough to take down, then you’re not going to like the Enforcer in Watch Dogs. This defense specialist character arrives on the scene fully dressed in armor, giving you a lot to work through before you even start to inflict damage on the opponent inside. There is a Combat Skills upgrade which will help you defeat Enforcers in the game, but until then avoid melee attacks and go straight for explosives. Running over the shield insignia opponents also works.
Marksman
When you find yourself being shot at from a subtle enemy, that’ll be the Marksman of the faction. With powerful weapons in hand, the Marksman will normally be found on a vantage point or on patrol with a sniper. There are two classes of Marksman, the standard and the Elite version. In either case you should seek them out first, clearly their advantageous position of enemies.
Shot-Caller
Each of the previous Faction Members has the potential for another purpose, to be the Shot-Caller. On top of their standard features, Shot-Callers are the ones who call for backup or reinforcements when the heat rises. Unless you stop them in their tracks, by using Jam Coms, a Blackout or attacking them, the reinforcements will arrive around 10 seconds after the Shot-Caller has made contact. Watch out for them by spotting the insignias with a Wi-Fi wave.
Police Officers:
Officer
Arriving on the scene by foot or squad car, in which case they come two at a time, Officers are likely to shoot you with pistols at first. When things crank up a gear they’ll change to shotguns and then assault rifles once the situation really gets out of hand. There are two strands of Officers, those with a single-arrow insignia and those with a double-arrow insignia.
Elite (SWAT)
Raise your Heat level to 4 and you’ll come across units of SWAT members during your Watch Dogs gameplay. Although you’ll want to consider using melee attacks to keep your reputation lower, they won’t do much damage to these enemies. The Elites are prepared, wearing armor and bringing a heavy supply of weapons. The star insignia will make the Elites clear to you, whether you want to avoid or take them on is up to you.
Enforcer (SWAT)
Similar to the Faction Members Enforcer, the Police Officers Enforcer is well equipped with armor and will be tough work to overcome. On the plus side, the Police Officers Enforcer will just being a shotgun and LMG to the party….best steer a vehicle into them or drop explosives to take them down.
Marksman (Chopper) The difficulty in defeating the Police Officers Marksman is that whenever you take one out, the helicopter they were riding will go and get another one. However defeating the Marksman is still worthwhile as they can inflict a lot of damage while roaming the skies in a chopper.
