It just seems like there is no better feeling than to make your opponent scream and tap in agony before the referee declares you the overall winner… Do you think the same? I've no doubt that many of you will favor other Gameplans but if you love winning as much as we do... Well you will love the rest of our submissions guide so read on to find out how to become a submission master:

Ground Game

Its important to have an understanding of the ground game in UFC, it basically consists of different positions in which both fighters will wrestle in order to hold the most advantageous positions that they can. Once you find yourself in a dominant position on the ground, it is important to wear your opponent down using normal striking attacks. You can also modify your attacks to cause more damage using R1, L1 and L2 in the same way that standing attacks are modified. Another good tip is to posture up by pushing up on the left analogue stick, this allows you to get much more leverage on your attacks which will cause more damage.

Submissions

To initiate a submission on the ground, push the right analogue stick left, right, up or down whilst holding down R1. Each direction will possibly start a different submission but once it has been chosen you will need to rotate the right analogue stick in either direction to lock the submission in. Remember to keep an eye on your stamina bars, as these will have a direct effect on the strength of your attacks and submissions.

Submitting an Opponent

Once you have locked in your submission the real battle begins. Your opponent will attempt to escape your submission hold by moving their right analogue stick in one of the available directions. To make your opponent tap out you will have to keep up by pushing your right stick in the same direction as your opponent each time they change. If you do this long enough a symbol will appear over one of the directions on screen prompting you to flick the left analogue stick in that direction. If you get this part correct, your opponents progress escaping will be reset and your submission hold will be tightened until you finally finish your opponent. Here's a list of all of the possible gound positions and submissions including the areas they affect on your opponent:
