Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition Blood Shards and Gambling Guide

Diablo 3 is not all dungeon-exploring and monster extermination. Fortunately some of the more mundane past times are still included and if you are a collector like me you’ll be glad to know that loot drops after battles are not the only way to get your hands on legendary gear. In fact, obtaining a legendary item could be as simple as giving Kadala back at the camp a few Blood Shards.

Blood shards are a form of currency in the Diablo 3 universe that was originally introduced in the Reaper of Souls DLC and are used for Gambling. They are typically obtained by completing lots of bounties, especially higher and expert level bounties. They can also be acquired by completing one of the two bonus acts on your world map which are chosen at random every time you start a new game. The final way to get shards is to destroy the various rift guardians which will give you a bunch for each victory. You can also get a few from Tyrael in the form of Horadic Caches given to you for clearing every bounty in an act.

In the world of Diablo 3, gambling consists of little more than choosing one of three categories you would like to gamble in: Weapons, Armor and Trinkets, and then picking an empty item slot to fill and rolling the dice. You will notice very fast that the item you receive will always be random despite any items you have previously received using the same method. Due to this we’d recommend that in order to find an item of a certain type it’s generally easier to keep purchasing that item type’s category until you receive it. Don’t get worked up about not getting an item straight away, some people will spend many thousands of shards and only receive cinder coats whilst others will get legendary items on the first try. Contrary to popular belief, none of blizzards developers have added any code to the game to stop you from getting the random item you deserve. There are no loot tables of any kind so don’t worry.

People often suggest that spending large amounts of blood shards in one game will empty a “loot table” and thus make it easier to receive types of loot which you haven’t recieved before. This rumour has been dismissed by Blizzard themselves who have confirms that buying in bulk does nothing whatsoever in terms of influencing your range of items and the items rarity. Some slots are definetly easier to target as it is more likely to get a legendary item in a slot like Pants where there are few legendary items, than you are to get one in weapons, as the weapons slot contains the most legendary items. It’s also important to bare in mind the fact that you have limited space in your inventory to hold all of this loot.

So in conclusion, It is certainly possible to receive all of the legendary items through the gambler, as well as the top tier set. You may get an incredible legendary item first time or you may spend thousands of blood shards on rubbish and then get 3 legendary items in a row. Nobody knows… That’s why its called gambling my friend!
