Destiny: How to Farm Rare Legendary Engrams and Loot Guide

Bungie’s Destiny is often described as a fusion of two genres, namely MMO and FPS, which to me suggests it’s a new genre called “MMOFPS” or “Massively multiplayer online first person shooter”. New games often boast new features but we can be forgiven for finding more joy in the features that new games inherit from our favorite games. New genres often inherit features from old genres and destiny is no different. It has the weapon customization aspect that made the Call of duty franchise so successful and it also contains an intense PVP feature called the crucible. The feature we will be discussing today is farming.

Farming is a tactic in video games where players perform actions repetitively to gain experience (xp), or some other type of points or in game currency. Faming is very similar to grinding experience points early in a game to ensure you are prepared for tough battles later on. It consists of staying in a certain area, which contains spawn points that generate either loads of enemies or loads of items. The player can then collect all of the items continuously or kill the enemies repeatedly for the experience and loot. This technique is also known as gold farming or XP farming.

Farming in destiny comes in many different forms but some are actively more effective than others. Although the game has only been out for around a week, farming is a popular topic amongst the game's communities. Questions are asked about the best farming spots and the best farming techniques. The most important types of farming methods are the following:

Glimmer Farming: The objective of this method is to accumulate as much glimmer as possible and level up the Cryptarch Reputation. This will cause you to get legendary packages from the postmaster vendor in the tower. The Maximum you can farm using this method is 25,000 Glimmer and each run will raise your Cryptarch by half a level at least so 2 hours of this should result in at least one legendary loot item.     Relic Iron Farming: Relic Iron is used as an upgrade material for your armor. It is found in the ground in the form of iron shards, which can be used to upgrade your item’s skill trees. In the right areas and conditions you can farm both chests and iron simultaneously.     Engram/Chest Farming: Engram farming consists of learning the Loot chest respawn points and speeding though the maps collecting as much loot as possible. The difference between an Engram or Chest farm and a glimmer farm is that there is less focus on killing the enemies and much more focus on speed and avoiding enemies.     Spinmetal Farming: Spinmetal farming helps to collect upgrade material for your weapons, the trick to spinmetal farming is to search all of the respawn points and then leave the area that you were farming and return immediately. This will reset the one and everything in the area will respawn immediately but in different locations.
