A couple of videos have been making the rounds to help players gain the most out of using Captain Falcon in the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. 4. Captain Falcon is definitely an upper-tier character with some amazing combo abilities and dangerous aerial domination. This advanced combo guide will give you a few tips on how to make the most out of Captain Falcon, and work as a competitive tutorial so you can kill hard and kill fast.
The first video comes courtesy of Jtails, whom you may be familiar with from various other Super Smash Bros. guides that have been popping up and popping out since the game’s release on both the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii U. His Falcon guide is pretty easy to follow, and he warns you about some of the lag at the end of the moves, as well as the dangers of where Falcon will be left open, such as his highly punishable dash-grab attack, where if you miss… you’ll regret it. Check it out below.
A couple of hints and tips for those of you who don’t want to watch nearly half an hour of the video above:
When talking about finishers, Super Smash Academy has a really nice breakdown of Captain Falcon’s Knee Smash attack. They explain how you get the most out of it during frame 14, as well as some of the advanced techniques for using it to finish opponents off the ledge or while battling off the platform. Check it out below.
It’s pretty neat seeing the knee being used as a finisher off the stomp. That’s an interesting technique and a tactic advanced players might be keen to master.
Keep in mind that there’s a lot of lag on the end of the knee so watch out for that to avoid being punished. Also, Falcon’s lack of projectiles means you’ll need to dash or air-hop to close the gaps, so you’ll definitely have to watch out when going against characters like Zero Suit Samus or Mega Man, who will use ranged stages to keep the fight at a distance.
I’m curious how much of a role Captain Falcon will play during EVO 2015 later on this year in Las Vegas, Nevada? With Super Smash Bros. 4 and Super Smash Bros. Melee both being in attendance, it’ll be interesting to see which characters will make it into the finals.
