Heroes of the Storm is now out and available and a lot of new players are joining in on the action and getting a taste of the game for the very first time now that the game is out of beta. One of the guides helps give gamers an idea of how to work with Sonya following the number of changes since the last patch and it teaches you how to turn Sonya into a Super Sonya.
The build guide comes courtesy of YouTuber Dark Vader. It’s a 30 minute match that starts out really rough. However, his Super Sonya build is actually a lot more effective than it might appear after things get going and the talent pools start stacking up. You can check it out below.
Sonya’s abilities are as follows: ‘Q’ for Ancient Spear, where she can throw a spear and pull herself to the first enemy hit, stunning them in the process. It’s like a reverse version of Scorpion’s “Get over here”. The Spear is non-targeting, so you’ll have to aim it properly. ‘W’ for Seismic Slam, it does a lot of damage if talents are put into it. ‘E’ is Whirlwind that allows you to deal damage and heals Sonya initially for 25% of damage dealt. Her trait is Fury, a passive that allows her generate movement speed based on damage she deals out and damage she takes.
Sonya’s two Heroic abilities are Leap and Wrath of the Berserker. With Leap, it’s similar to Johanna’s Heroic ability where Sonya can leap into a crowd and do massive damage while initially stunning foes for 1.5 seconds. Wrath of the Berserker is based on damage dealt; it increases Sonya’s initial damage output and lessens the duration of status spells against her. Wrath of the Berserker can be maintained and sustained so long as Sonya has enough Fury meter.
At level 4 Dark Vader goes with Focused Attacked so it makes the auto-attack do an additional 75% damage.
At level 7 Vader chooses the passive buff, Follow Through, which makes Sonya’s basic attack 40% stronger following up after she uses an ability.
At level 10 Wrath of the Berserker is picked; Vader’s reasoning for this is because he can keep stacking Fury and maintain Wrath of the Berserker. For players who don’t feel as if they can maintain the damage output to make the most out of Wrath of the Berserker he advises using Leap as the safer bet when picking a Heroic ability.
At level 13 he goes for Mystical Spear, which reduces the cooldown on Sonya’s Ancient Spear skill.
At level 16 Furious Blow is what he wants to pick, which helps increase the damage of Seismic Slam, which was used quite often throughout the match. However, he goes with the passive talent Imposing Presence, which slows down basic enemy attacks by 50%.
At level 20 Nexus Blades is the choice talent, another passive buff that increases basic attack damage by 20% and slows down enemies.
For beginners, Dark Vader notes that Sonya is good for clearing out camps on her own thanks to her spin attacks that deal massive AOE damage within a short span.
The build is tricky and requires sound team support, but is great at dealing DPS in high doses when it counts.
