Bloodborne Guide: How to Find the Abandoned Old Workshop

One of the really cool areas you can discover in Bloodborne is also one that is easily missed. Ever wondered what the area in the Hunter’s Dream was modeled on? This guide will show you how to find the Abandoned Old Workshop and allow you to see firsthand what the Hunter’s Dream really looks like in Yharnam. To get there, make sure you have at least one Blood Vial on you.

First things first, you’re going to have to kill the Blood-starved Beast. This monster is located in Old Yharnam, and you can refer to our handy guide if you need some tips or strategies on how to beat this difficult boss. Once you’ve taken care of the Blood-starved Beast, make use of the lamp that appears and warp yourself back to the Cathedral Ward. You’ll notice that the small door to the right of the lamp has now been opened.

Go through the door, operate the lever, and ride the lift up to a new area. Get ready to dodge as you’ll immediately be faced with a wheelchair-bound elderly packing a huge gattlling gun. Take him out quickly, grab the rune in the chest lying nearby, and cross the bridge that connects the room you’re in and the Healing Church Workshop. There’s a sniper who will be firing off bullets at you from above so make sure to keep moving.

While crossing the bridge, you’ll have to deal with one of those werewolf men before you can progress. After you’ve crossed the bridge, do not enter the doorway leading into the tower. Instead, take a right to find that the pathway has been destroyed, leading to a lower floor. Carefully drop down the ledge, continue walking, and you should find a doorway that takes you to a lower portion of the Healing Church Workshop. There are tons of wooden platforms here and this is where things start to get a little tricky.

From the doorway, walk straight to the middle of the wooden plank and turn around. If you move your camera a little bit, you should see a small platform on the opposite wall below you. That’s where you’ll need to get to next. Remember the Blood Vial I told you to bring? You’re going to need them very soon because of the fall damage you’re about to take.

The plank you’re aiming for is the dark one on the right, not the lit up one.

From the middle of the wooden plank you start out from, position yourself such that the platform lies straight in front of you. You don’t have a lot of wiggle room to work with but you’re going to have to do a running jump to get to it. It could take a couple of tries, but the important thing here is to make sure that the target platform is in a straight line in front of you. That way, even though you’ll take some fall damage, your running jump is guaranteed to land you on that platform.

Once you’ve gotten yourself onto the platform, consume the Blood Vial and get ready for one more short fall. This one is much easier to pull off than the running jump. From the platform you’ve landed on, turn slightly to the right and you should see another platform directly below you. Just inch your way slowly to the edge, drop down, and you’ll be right outside a door. You will take a little bit of damage from this fall but don’t worry, you’re really close to a lamp.

Open the huge door that’s right in front of you and you’ll find yourself in the Abandoned Old Workshop. This is it. You should get the ‘Source of the Dream’ trophy once you’ve unlocked this new area, along with two Insight points.

There are a few things you can collect in this area. The first is a Hunter’s Bone that lies right outside the house, and you can pick up a Small Hair Ornament and One-Third of an Umbilical Cord inside the house itself. There’s also an inanimate doll in the house that you can examine. And of course, you can’t leave this area without picking up the most important item of all. Go to the area where the Messenger’s Bath typically is in the Hunter’s Dream and you should find a set of Doll’s Clothes for your hunter to adorn.

Now that you’ve picked the place clean, warp back to the Hunter’s Dream via the lamp inside the house and you’re done.
