"Smoke + Mirrors", the long awaited Imagine Dragons’ second studio album will be released on February 17 but fans of the band may already have an idea about the album thanks to the preview that was released with excerpts from all its tracks.
Among its 13 tracks (17 on the deluxe version), one of which should be highlighted is "Friction". The song is influenced by Indian music, with electronic percussion simulating tablas.
The unusual arrangement helps set the mood of strangeness to music, one of the heaviest ever made by the band. The claustrophobic atmosphere is enhanced by the angry voice of Dan Reynolds, especially in the chorus almost cried.
The result is a song that shows new ground for the band, which appears to diversify their sound palette without that sound like distortion.
As already known, the Imagine Dragons will return to Brazil in April, after they had made great success at Lollapalooza last year. The quartet plays in Rio de Janeiro (Citibank Hall) on the 16th and 18the in São Paulo, at Anhembi Arena.
