The Darkness is a first-person shooter video game, developed by Starbreeze Studios and published by 2K Games for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It was released on June 25, 2007 in North America and on June 20, 2007 in Europe. The video game is based on the comic book of the same title. A sequel, titled The Darkness II was announced, but developed by Digital Extremes, a different development studio, and released on February 7, 2012.

In this page, you will be guided on how to get all fifty achievements in the Darkness II for a total of 1,000 Gamer score points.

One Man Army

The goal is to kill at least twenty-five guys while being dragged along by some guy because of the paralysis dealt upon your legs at the very start of the game. This is a bit hard to accomplish for most players, so follow closely.

1. It is highly recommended to do this on Easy mode as the guys die with only one shot.

2. At some point, when you reach about fifteen kills, the guy dragging you will make a sharp curve making you miss the rest of the incoming guys. This is also where one unfortunate guy gets hit by a van.

3. Then you get to the bar corner of the restaurant where the guy dragging you takes a break. Here you’ll have to take the gun dropped on the floor and kill some more while lying at your side.

4. After the guy gives you his gun, you now have two guns and you then can get up. It’s pretty neat to have two because you have more to shoot but what sucks is that, you can’t zoom-in now.

5. So when the guy drags you again and the enemies grow in numbers, just shoot as wild as you can because you have unlimited bullets. What you just want to worry about is reloading.

6. When both of you gets inside the kitchen of the restaurant, you must have killed 25 guys because it ends here. And If you do, the achievement will pop-out. So, there you have it!

Romantic

This is probably the easiest of the achievements in the game, but still one wrong thing can get you to restart again from the previous checkpoint. Follow the short guide below in order to get the achievement:

1. First break your way through the steel door shown in the picture below. Then proceed to the next door leading to a  fastfood restaurant.

2. Inside you will see Jenny. After you walk towards her, time seems to slow down and you’ll both start to dance. A moment later, there would be a pop-up on the left which is an option to kiss Jenny if you press “X”.

3. Now, what you have to do is not to kiss her. You’ll have to wait for the whole song to finish which is two minutes. After that, she’ll exit and there the achievement will pop-out.

Decisions Decisions

1. After the previous guide “The Romantic”, you’ll be caught up to this guy as shown in the picture below.

2. He’ll put you in a situation where you’ll be the one to choose whom to sacrifice or kill. It would be either Frank which is on the left or Eddie at the right.

3. What you have to do now is still wait for a moment, but this time, not another two minutes. After a short while, he’ll choose to kill one of them and then the achievement will unlock.

The Bird is the Word

1. This achievement takes place at a parking area shortly after you’ve finished Decisions Decisions. You go to a corner and there you will see a car speeding towards you.

2. Just shoot either the car or the driver. It really doesn’t matter because once it’s up in the air, you’ll get the achievement. Pretty easy one so to say.
Note: If he hits you, you won’t die but this achievement can be missed.

Carnie Kid

The goal is to Earn a score of at least 1000 in each of the Carnival games.

1. First of all, you must know that this achievement is story-related and can only be accomplished during the thirteenth chapter which is Fun and Games. Just as soon as the chapter starts, you will reach the carnival and also the first challenge. This can’t be missed. Here you need to shoot ducks.

2. In this game, it would be best to shoot the ducks on the middle and on the top. The ducks on the top are the highly recommended to hit for they give a higher score, but they are very fast.
Note: You may miss some ducks, but still be fast and accurate in order to get the desired score.

3. As you progress further in this mission, you will encounter the final challenge where you’ll have to shoot the black colored cardboard figures. Be sure not to hit the sheriff, the bartender, and the lady. Just hit the bad guys.

4. Another tip is to destroy some of the furniture around to have additional points. I am referring to the Picture frames, the displayed Bull Horns, the Horseshoe, and even some bottles. Get a least a thousand points again, and the achievement will be unlocked.

The video version of the guide can be played below:

Impish Delight

The goal is to kill fifteen guards playing the role of a Darkling.

1. First of all, you need to become a Darkling. This is part of the campaign. But you can only be a Darkling twice in the game and in that two times you always have to help Jakie either open doors or free him. As you run around doing the sub mission, you will see some guard where the game tells you to avoid. Don’t follow it, run up to them and then press the “LB” to execute them. Once you reach a certain number of kills, which is fifteen, the achievement will unlock.
Note: The guard’s reaction is slow so you have a lot of time to kill them. Use the tunnels you see to get around the areas where the light is. Remember to watch out for the guys with the light! Once you get hit in the face by the light it will decrease your health.

Executioner

This is one of those simple achievements in the game. The goal is to perform execution attacks, thus killing fifty enemies.

1. Execution attacks is where the darkness does it’s brutal killings. There are a lot of executions and they happen randomly. It may be the Wishbone, Anaconda, Ground Stomp, and more. In order to conduct an execution, first you’ll have to grab an enemy by pressing “LB”, then use either A, X, Y, or, B to kill them with an attack. Once you reach the said number of kills, the achievement will unlock.

The Swarm King

The goal is to kill fifty enemies who are currently swarmed.

1. What you have to do first is to buy the swarm as an upgrade. Once you’ve obtained this skill, press “B” to activate a green gas filled mist on your screen. An indication that an enemy has been attacked by the swarm is that you will notice he is sort of like fighting with a colony of bees.
Note: It would be best to max out this skill in order for more reach of the swarm to mass enemies.

2. After using the swarm attack, you can now kill your enemies in whatever way you wish, it doesn’t matter at all. What matters most is that the enemies you will kill are those who are infected. Once you reach the specific number of kills needed to get this achievement, the achievement will unlock.

Suck It Up

The goal is to basically kill fifty enemies using the Black Hole skill.

1. First, you have to go to the purple portals so that you can upgrade your player. After the upgrade for the Black Hole skill is done, this will now enable you to randomly snatch it from a dead player, instead of a heart. Do this skill at guards to stick them to it and then gain a kill.
Note: It would be best if you stay in the dark. The light makes the black hole vanish if you have it on your hand. Throw this towards multiple enemies to hasten the progress of getting this achievement. Also remember that, Ladders and Cutscenes make the black hole vanish as well.

Cut and Run

This is another one of those simple achievements where you have to Kill at least fifty enemies using your demon arm.

1. The easiest way to get this achievement is to purchase the demon smash item. After which, you then load any chapter in the game. Then find a guard. When you do, simply press the “RB” then up, down with your “RS”. This will kill them with only two hits. Repeat this for another forty-nine times and you’ll get the achievement.

Ready for the Big Leagues

The goal is to basically kill fifty enemies with thrown objects.

1. First, you need to know how to throw stuff. To throw, you must find on with a glowing orange symbol on them and then grab it by pressing “LB”. After which, press the “LB” again to release or throw it. Aim accurately at an enemy to strike a kill. Do this again on other enemies until you reach the said number of kills and the achievement will unlock.

The video version of this guide can be viewed below:

Dark Akimbo

The goal is basically to Kill 100 enemies while dual wielding 2 different guns while playing as Jackie.

1. For you to get this achievement fast and easily, simply start on an easy play through. Then, have your weapons upgraded so you have automatic aiming and you’ll be able to see through walls with dual weapons. Once you have upgraded your weapons, it would now be best to try getting this achievement at Boss Levels.

2. Wait until the game spawns enemies at you and you just have to survive. When a large number of enemies in the area, press “Y” to make your guns go purple and then hold the triggers while aiming at the enemies. They will instantly die upon shooting them. Kill as many as you can, and if you reach the certain number of kills, the achievement will unlock.

That’s Why I’m the Boss

Basically, the goal is to impress Dolfo in two different ways. Both are to test your accuracy and agility.

1. Dolfo’s challenges are achievable at Chapters 3, 5, and 12. You can start at any point, it doesn’t matter. On one of his challenges, he would have you to shoot 13 bottles in under 10 seconds.

2. Some say that you must start from the center going to your right, and then finish the rest but it really doesn’t matter if you’ll ask me. What matters most is that, you must be accurately quick. Whatever method, you’ll still get all 13 bottles in time.

3. The next challenge is to kill at least twenty of the twenty-four pigeons scattered in the area. Now, you must keep in mind that the shotgun in this game can still kill at a far distance. Don’t hesitate to shoot the pigeons even though they are far. The technique is that, when you see a group of pigeons, shoot automatically! Chances are that at least one of them will die on that shot alone. Then hasten up going near while continuously shooting the pigeons that are left. After that, proceed to another location to find the remaining pigeons. If you get at least twenty of them, the achievement will unlock.

Karma’s a Bitch

Now the goal of this achievement is to kill a shielded enemy using his own shield.

1. First you have to figure out where you’ll locate an enemy using a shield. Well….. the first time is at the eighth chapter which is the home invasion. On the balcony of that mansion, you’ll find a shielded enemy.

2. What you have to do is, shoot the shield a couple of times and then grab it from him. Weaken the enemy by shooting him with a weak automatic weapon. After this, you then toss the shield on him. Once he’s killed, the achievement will unlock.
Note: If you fail to do this, you can always restart from the previous checkpoint to attempt this achievement again.

The video version of this guide can be viewed below:

2 Guys 1 Pole

The goal is to stick a pole into two enemies. It may sound easy but you must be accurate in order to achieve this.

1. You can get this achievement right where you’re chasing Swifty. You have to grab the pool stick and aim right at the two guys that are charging towards you, in other words, use it like a javelin.

2. If you miss, or hit just one of them, simply revert or restart from the checkpoint and repeat step one.
Note: There are other objects you can throw like a javelin. You can use them as well.

3. When a successful hit is made, the achievement will pop out after a moment, and there you have it!

If you want to view the video version of this guide, play this below:

Versatile Killer

In order to get this achievement, you must kill enemies in five different ways within thirty seconds.

1. This takes place on a subway. First grab someone by stunning him with the “LB” and then when you press the “A” button, you will execute him. There are plenty of executions, they happen randomly but in this guide, it did Wishbone.
Note: The countdown timer is located at the upper right part of your screen.

2. The next victim in this guide was executed with the Anaconda. It’s just really by chance, but there are also several ways to kill such as shooting.

3. An example of this is Headshot where you basically shoot someone on their head.

4. Another is simply shooting an enemy on their body, thus killing them.

5. The last skill showcased in this guide is the Ground Pound where you knock the guy out and then you slam him through the ground. This ability can be bought.

6. As soon as you kill five different ways in thirty seconds, you’ll get the achievement.

The video version of the guide can be viewed below:

Relic Hunter
All relic locations shown, click the title above.

Skeet Shoot

In order to get this achievement, you’ll just have to throw an enemy into mid air and then kill him with gunfire before he lands.

1. Basically this achievement can be done anywhere, but the first chance of unlocking this achievement is in Chapter Two, just after you get your first weapon.

2. After you grab the gun, an enemy will be up front opening the door. Simply grab him and throw him as high as you can. Then, before he lands on the ground, kill him with your gun. If you perform this successfully, you’ll get the achievement.

Dark Ninjutsu

The goal is to complete a Vendetta or Hit List mission while playing as Inugami, online or offline and on any of the four difficulties.

Hell Hath No Fury…

Here you have to complete a Vendetta or Hit List mission while playing as Shoshanna, online or offline and on any of the four difficulties.

I’s 12pm Somewhere!

Now you have to complete a Vendetta or Hit List mission while playing as Jimmy Wilson, online or offline and on any of the four difficulties.

Voodoo is More Than Dolls

This time you have to complete a Vendetta or Hit List mission while playing as Jimmy Wilson, online or offline and on any of the four difficulties.

Gameplay Achievements

Here are the routine gameplay achievements that can be unlocked as you play through the game:

1. Free The Mind – Complete the game on any of the four difficulties namely: Thug, Mobster, Hitman, and Don.

2. Don of Darkness – Like all shooting games, completing the campaign on the hardest difficulty isn’t actually that hard at all, it only requires you to take your time and to think of the best strategy. The awesomeness of this game is that it allows you to play the way you like; there are many different ways to kill or execute your enemies.

3. At Home in the Dark – When you finish the game, you’ll be able to start a new game on any difficulty with all your purchased talents or choose to replay any chapter. For this achievement complete the game again on any difficulty, but I would suggest playing on the “Don” difficulty if you haven’t already done so.
Note: At the end, you must choose to leave the Asylum. If you don’t, you won’t be able to complete the last chapter.

4. The Old Gibber – You’ll first have to buy the Gun Channeling talent which will cost 1000 Essence. From now on while in a fight, press “Y” to activate the talent which will give you infinite ammo for a few seconds. It will also boost your gun’s damage. Kill 100 enemies while the talent is activated to unlock the achievement.

5. Jakie’s Got Talent – Purchase any of the talents in the single player campaign.
Note: Refer to the “Talent Show” achievement below for more information.

6. This Kid’s Got Potential – Max out one of Jakie’s Talent Trees.
Note: Refer to the “Talent Show” achievement below for more information.

7. Truly Talented – Max out three of Jakie’s Talent Trees.
Note: Refer to the “Talent Show” achievement below for more information.

8. Talent Show – Max out all of Jakie’s Talent Trees. There’s a total of 28 Talents (4 trees) that you’ll need to unlock. You buy them with Essence which come from the kills you make, the hearts you eat, the relics you find and the lights you destroy. These talents can be purchased from Talent Shrines that you’ll find throughout the game. You may not be able to buy all of the talents in your first playthrough, but you don’t have to worry about it as you’ll restart the game with your all purchased Talents. You won’t have to buy the same ones again.

9. Mmmm Essence! – Pick up five relics in the single player campaign.
Note: Refer to the “Relic Hunter” achievement above for more information.

10. Burned His Mansion - The goal is to kill Luigi Palladino. This cannot be missed. You will unlock this achievement at the end of the third chapter in the Vendetta’s campaign. You can play this in any difficulty.

11. Coward – The goal is to kill Cedro Valdez. This cannot be missed. You will unlock this achievement at the end of the fourth chapter in the Vendetta’s campaign. You can play this in any difficulty.

12. Whipping Boy – The goal is to kill Frank Marshall. Complete the “Enter the Gauntlet” mission in the first Hit List. This achievement can be done on either solo or multiplayer and on any difficulty.

13. Bonnie & Clyde Wannabes – The goal is to Kill Jean-Luc Lambert and Amelie Dubois. This cannot be missed. You will unlock this achievement at the end of the sixth mission in the Vendetta’s campaign. You can play this in any difficulty.

14. Technical Difficulties – The goal is to kill the NewsWatch 6 team of Tom Dawson, Bud Langley and Sara Stephens. Complete the “We Interrupt this Program” mission in the fourth Hit List. This achievement can be done on either solo or multiplayer and on any difficulty.

15. The Brotherhood Crumbles – There are eight chapters that you’ll have to complete in the Vendetta’s Campaign to unlock the achievement. You can complete them on any difficulty, solo or with your friends.

16. Embraced the Darkness – In Vendettas, acquire all the talents for one character. Like in the Single Player Campaign, every character has Talent Trees. You must fully upgrade the trees of any character (JP, Jimmy, Inugami or Shoshanna). Firstly, I would suggest completing a mission with every character to see who’s your favorite. Then start playing with him/her. If you go through the Vendetta’s Campaign and every Hit List with the same character, you should have earned enough Essence to buy all the Talents.

If you want to accelerate the process, play solo on the “Thug” difficulty. Keep executing the enemies (stun them with “RB” and execute them with “LB” ). You’ll receive thirty Essences instead of ten. You can also search for the six Relics throughout the Vendetta’s Campaign. You’ll receive three-hundred Essences each.

Personally, I love playing with Shoshanna. If you hold “LT” , your shotgun will shoot a powerful blast that gives twenty Essences when you kill someone with it. If you destroy enemies’ hearts afterwards by pressing “LB” , you may receive more than thirty Essences per kill.

17. You’ve Made My Hit List – Complete six Hit List exclusive missions. There are a total of eighteen Hit List missions. Eight of them are Vendetta’s campaign missions but they won’t count towards the achievement. The remaining missions are Hit List exclusive, which means that they do count towards the achievement. Four of them can only be done with partners online and the six remaining can be done solo. Complete six of them on any difficulty to unlock the achievement.

Online:

* Corpses Can’t talk
* Destruction Delay
* Everything Burns
* The Heis

Offline:

* Enter The Gauntlet
* All Clear
* Time To Take Out The Thrash
* We Interrupt This Program
* Storming
* Snatch And grab

18. Cheque Please! – Survive the Hit. This is story related and cannot be missed on a single player campaign.

19. I’m Just Getting Started – Find and interrogate Swifty (The first boss that you encounter in the game). This is also story related and cannot be missed. You will unlock this while you play through the single player campaign.

21. Storm the Mansion – Take back your mansion. Again, this is also story related and cannot be missed. You will unlock this while you play through the single player campaign.

22. One Flew Over – Return to Reality…? Story related and cannot be missed. You will unlock this while you play through the single player campaign.

23. Sweet Revenge – Avenge your Aunt Sarah. Story related and cannot be missed. You will unlock this while you play through the single player campaign.

24. Date Night – Protect Jenny. Story related and cannot be missed. You will unlock this while you play through the single player campaign.

25. Allies in Strange Places – Story related and cannot be missed. You will unlock this while you play through the single player campaign.

26. Back in the Saddle – Rescue Jackie from the Iron Maiden. Story related and cannot be missed. You will unlock this while you play through the single player campaign.

27. Step into Hell… - Defeat Victor (The final boss in the game). Story related and cannot be missed. You will unlock this while you play through the single player campaign.

28. Should Have Called 555-2368… – Survive the battle against the Hell Beast. This cannot be missed. After you’ve killed the boss in the final chapter of the Vendetta’s campaign, this achievement will unlock.
