Introduction
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Mass Effect 3 features 50 achievements for a total of 1000 Gamerscore, as well as 50 trophies and one Platinum Trophy, if you’re playing the PS3 version. This guide will help you collect every single achievement in the game.
People that loathe multiplayer achievements should rejoice, by the way. Most all the multiplayer achievements in the game can be alternately obtained in the single player campaign!
If you need more help on the specific quests, I will provide links to a couple of Mass Effect 3 walkthroughs that will give you more information.
Happy hunting!

1. A Personal Touch (10G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Modify a weapon
Strategy: This achievement is incredibly easy, but there are a few steps that you need to follow. Initially, you’ll need to complete the first few missions of the game in order to open up this option. Once you are able to fly around freely on the Normandy and do side missions and all that jazz, that means you’ve gotten far enough in order to do this.
Secondly, you’ll need to find something that you can mod your weapons with. These items can be purchased at stores on the Citadel, or from the computer on the Cargo Hold area of the Normandy where James Vega and Cortez hang out. They can also be looted from the environment of missions, which is probably where you will allocate your first few.
Once you have an item in which you can modify your weapons, you have a few options. One, you can go to the workbench on the same level of the Normandy where James and Cortez are; two, you can start a new mission and get to the weapon select screen; or three, you can find a new gun on the ground and choose the option of changing your loadout once prompted.
At the screen, scroll through the various weapon types until you find the correct weapon that you have a modifier for. The game will let you press X to add the modification. Choose the modification you want and apply it to unlock this achievement.

2. Almost There (15G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Reach level 15 in multiplayer or level 50 in single-player
Strategy: This achievement will unlock naturally as you play through the game. As it says in the description, it can be unlocked in the multiplayer game or the single-player game. It’s easier to unlock it in single-player, though, assuming you import a character from ME2.
The reason for that is, by the time you finish ME2, you will probably be in your mid 20s level-wise, or level capped to 30 in that game. For example, I imported an ME2 character that was level 26 into my Mass Effect 3 save. I wasn’t even halfway through the game and I reached level 50 no problem.
If you don’t have an ME2 character to import, then playing the co-op component will be the faster route.

3. Always Prepared (10G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Obtain two non-customizable suits of armor
Strategy: This is a simple task as well. Basically just purchase armor that doesn’t allow you to customize it, aka buy an entire suit of armor. This will be costly (50,000 credits), but it’s nothing that you can’t handle, especially since the game throws money at you like it grows on alien trees.
These are the acceptable suits of armor to unlock this achievement, purchased at various stores around the Citadel or even on the bottom deck of the Normandy:
Blood Dragon Armor
Cerberus Armor
Collector Armor
Inferno Armor
Terminus Armor
If you pre-ordered Mass Effect 3 from GameStop, you will already have access to an exclusive piece of armor that counts towards this achievement. Another opportunity to snag a free set of nifty armor is by having played the demo for playing the demo for EA’s ambitious RPG Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. You will have access to both sets of armor the first time you try to use a shop in the game, and then the achievement will unlock.

4. Arbiter (25G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Win a political stand-off
Strategy: BioWare cleverly hid the spoilers found in the story-based achievements by making them sound generic. This achievement will be unlocked by playing through the main game.

5. Battle Scarred (25G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Promote a multiplayer character to the Galaxy at War or import an ME3 character
Strategy: Once again, there are two ways to do this. Going about this the multiplayer/co-op way is self-explanatory and time-consuming. Actually, the same can be said for the single player route as well.
The easiest way to get this achievement is to beat Mass Effect 3 once. After you do this, try to start a New Game. There will be a new option to important the character that you beat the game with. Do so and the achievement will unlock.

6. Bringer of War (10G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Chase down an assassin
Strategy: Story-based achievement.
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
7. Bruiser (10G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Kill 100 enemies with melee attacks
Strategy: For the first time in the series, BioWare has made melee combat a focus for Mass Effect 3. To perform a melee attack, simply tab the B button. If you hold down the B button, a charged melee attack will be used. If you get the jump on an enemy, a stealthy melee attack can be used. And if an enemy grabs a hold of you, press B repeatedly to escape their grasp and kill them with a theatric melee attack.
The easiest way to get this is to just spam the hell out of melee attacks.

8. Combined Arms (25G/Silver)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Perform any combination of 50 biotic combos or tech bursts
Strategy: You know those nifty powers you can access through the power wheel or the Kinect voice commands? Well, just combine two of them in combat against a single enemy, and you’ll be on the road to unlock this achievement.
There are a ton of different combinations in order to get this done. However, the main concern about this achievement is that the enemies will die before your powers can recharge and you are able to fire off the second attack. Try to make sure the first power you use is passive and won’t kill the enemy, and also upgrade your character accordingly to focus on reducing the cool down times of your powers.

9. Defender (25G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Attain the highest level of readiness in each theater of war
Strategy: I believe this is the only achievement/trophy that actually requires that you play the multiplayer component of the game. In order to raise the level of readiness in the theaters of war, you need to play co-op missions in each of the different levels of that are available. The better that you do on these co-op missions, the higher the readiness rating rises.
It actually doesn’t take too long to raise the readiness rating for each territory. The lobby system for the multiplayer in ME3 will allow you to choose which theater of war that you want to fight in as well. Plus, the game keeps track of your progress the entire time, so there’s no need to worry about retreading old territory.

10. Driven (5G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Return to active duty
Strategy: Story-based achievement. It’s actually the one that unlocks for completing the very first mission of the game.

11. Enlisted (15G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Start a character in multiplayer or customize a character in single-player
Strategy: This is another achievement/trophy that’s very, very easy to get. You practically can’t even play the game without unlocking it, unless you import a Mass Effect 2 character and don’t customize their appearance at the beginning of the game.
There are two ways to get this. As is typical, there is the multiplayer way to unlock this achievement and the single-player way. The multiplayer way simply requires you to create a multiplayer character. This process takes seconds. The other way is to either create a new character from scratch in ME3 or customize the appearance of your imported ME2 character before starting the game.

13. Explorer (15G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Complete three multiplayer matches or five N7 missions
Strategy: Self-explanatory achievement. Yet once again, there are two ways to accomplish this.
The first way is to play three multiplayer matches. This is the easiest way. I don’t believe you need to even be completely successful in the match, just play it until you and your team dies or complete it. Otherwise, the single-player way to achieve this is to complete five side missions, specifically side missions that have the “N7″ label next to them. You can collect these missions usually by speaking with Specialist Traynor that hangs out near the Galaxy Map, or by reading your e-mails.

14. Eye of the Hurricane (10G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Kill a brute while it’s charging you
Strategy: Brutes are the large Reaper monsters with armor that try to punch you and charge at you. They are encountered many, many times throughout the storyline, as well as in the co-op multiplayer mode.
The key to unlocking this achievement, which you will probably wind up doing by accident anyway, is to wait for the beast to charge, and THEN kill it. Drain its health down very low, and then wait for it to charge. Then when it gets close, blast it with a power or shoot it in the face with a shotgun. Keep in mind that if one of your squadmates (human or AI) kill the Brute, then the achievement will not unlock.

15. Fact Finder (15G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Discover an enemy’s monstrous origin
Strategy: Story-based achievement.

16. Focused (25G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Evolve any of your powers to rank 6
Strategy: Mass Effect 3 employs a different upgrade/leveling system than that of its predecessors. When you upgrade your powers, there are six tiers. The first three tiers are linear. The first tier requires one skill point, the second tier two, the third tier three, and so on and so forth.
The fourth, fifth, and sixth tiers gives you a choice between two different paths of upgrades. This makes the leveling tree nonlinear and allows you to branch off different paths, so to speak.
At any rate, all you need to do is level up one of the different trees completely. If you import an ME2 character, it’s likely that you will be able to accomplish this right off the bat if you so desire. I pretty certain this can also be completed in the co-op mode.

17. Giant Killer (10G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Defeat a harvester
Strategy: This is a story-based achievement (kind of) and it will happen naturally. Basically, it just requires you to kill a Reaper harvester, which is a giant Reaper bird monster…thing. You’ll have multiple opportunities to do this throughout the storyline, and more than one of these will be a required fight, so don’t worry about having to go out of your way to unlock this. Harvesters can also be encountered in co-op.
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
18. Gunsmith (25G/Silver)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Upgrade any weapon to level 10
Strategy: This achievement can be completed in one of two ways. First I will tell you the story-based way to unlock this achievement, and then I will go over the multiplayer route.
In the game’s storyline, on the docking bay deck of the Normandy where James Vega and Lieutenant Cortez hang out. One of the terminals that you can access will allow you to upgrade your guns in exchange for credits. During the first playthrough of the game, you are only able to upgrade your weapons to level five. Beat the game and the import your ME3 character. This will allow you to continue the upgrade process to level 10.
The second way to do this is in the co-op mode. In co-op, you buy packs that are kind of like buying decks of cards for a trading card game. You buy them without knowing for sure what’s inside. These packs can be purchased with credits earned by playing the game, or with actual money. At any rate, you can receive weapon upgrades in these packs, and if you’re lucky enough, you will be able to level up one of the weapons for your multiplayer character all the way to level 10 by purchasing these packs.

19. Hard Target (15G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Call down an orbital strike
Strategy: Story-based achievement.
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
20. Hijacker (10G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Hijack an Atlas mech
Strategy: Atlas mechs are large mechs that are used by Cerberus troops in battle. These mechs deal a devastating amount of damage and have an incredible amount of armor and shields.
Wouldn’t it be great to harness this incredible power for the Alliance? Well, that’s entirely possible. All you need is a sniper rifle and a functioning Atlas mech!
When an Atlas tries to attack you, get as far away from it as possible. Get out a sniper rifle, then aim at the cockpit of the mech. Train your sights on the head of the Cerberus trooper that is piloting the thing, and blast away until he dies. Once he is dead, the mech will be highlighted blue, and that means you are free to run up to it and take control.

21. Insanity (75G/Gold)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Finish the game on Insanity without changing difficulty after leaving Earth
Strategy: This achievement is fairly self-explanatory. Before completing the Prologue mission in Vancouver, change the difficult to Insanity level. Then complete the rest of the game.
Luckily, you can do this with an imported ME3 character. This means you can do this with fully powered weapons and a fully upgraded character to make things a bit easier.

Description: Complete Mass Effect 3 twice, or once with a Mass Effect 2 important
Strategy: If you play through Mass Effect 3 using an imported character and beat the game, this achievement will unlock. Otherwise, you need to beat the game once with a new ME3 character, then import that character, and complete the game for a second time WITH the same character.

26. Lost and Found (25G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Dispatch 10 probes to retrieve people or resources in Reaper territory
Strategy: As you explore the Galaxy map, you will travel through many star systems within the Milky Way galaxy. The game will point you directly towards important side missions with flashing icons, and it will literally point you to the systems that feature the Priority story missions.
While exploring, you have the option to pull the left trigger to scan the area. Each scan, however, attracts the attention of the Reapers, a threat that is measured by the meter on the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. When the meter is completely filled, the Reapers will invade that system and chase you. In order to evade them, either leave the system or use a Mass Relay. The Reapers will stay in this system until you complete a mission, by the way.
So as you’re exploring the galaxy on your ultimate journey of thwarting the Reaper threat, scan EVERY planet you see. If something is discovered on the planet, the game will circle the planet in red. Examine the planet closer by moving the Normandy on it and pressing A. This will then start a mini-game similar to the planet mining mini-game from Mass Effect 2.
You will control a large graphic that looks like a radar. Hold the left trigger down to start this scanning process. You will be able to freely move this radar along the planet’s surface. A thick white line on the radar will point you in the right direction. Once you’ve reached the correct area on the planet, there will be a big white dot. Deploy the probe at this dot to retrieve whatever is there.
You will find many things by doing this. Sometimes you will find new allies or supplies to help fight the Reapers. Other times you will find objects that various characters on the Citadel want, which counts as completing side missions.
Just do this 10 times and you will unlock the achievement.

27. Mail Slot (10G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Kill 10 guardians with headshots from the front while their shields are raised
Strategy: Guardians are a type of Cerberus soldier that walk around with big riot shields to protect them. Of course, they need to see where they’re walking and shooting, so there is a small slot on the shield. To get this achievement, you need to headshot them through the slot.
The easiest way to do this is with a highly upgraded sniper rifle. One of the most powerful sniper rifles in the game is the Widow, and a high-powered Widow will easily smash the heads of the Cerberus goons. Just do this 10 times to get the achievement. It’s not too hard to get, especially considering these guys usually travel in packs of three, along with their other Cerberus buddies of course.
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
28. Master and Commander (50G/Silver)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Deliver most of the Galaxy at War assets to the final conflict
Strategy: This achievement challenges you to complete most of the side missions in the game. This is actually easy, just time-consuming. Make sure to complete as many side missions as you possibly can before starting each story mission. When you can no longer complete another side mission, play the next story mission and repeat the process. Also visit the Citadel often for more side missions.
When that’s all said and done, finish the fight on Earth to beat the game. Note that after you beat the game, you will be able to load your save from when you’re back on the Normandy right before the attack on the Cerberus HQ, so you can go back and try to complete side missions you may have missed if this achievement didn’t unlock for you.

Description: Overload the shields of 100 enemies
Strategy: Make a multiplayer character that is the Engineer class or use a single-player character that is an Engineer class. Then use the Overload ability on enemies to disrupt their shields. Do this 100 times and you’ll have the achievement.
Note: I have confirmed that having your partners use the ability on enemies does not count towards the achievement. You must do it yourself.

31. Paramour (25G/Bronze)
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Establish or rekindle a romantic relationship
Strategy: Mass Effect 3 greatly increases the options for romantic relationships when compared to previous games. There are also different romances available based on what gender you choose.
Here is a full list of romantic options in the game (assuming they survived Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2):
Ashley Williams (male only)
Diana Allers
Garrus Vakarian (female only)
Jack (male only)
Kaiden Alenko
Liara T’Soni
Miranda Lawson (male only)
Samantha Traynor (female only)
Steve Cortez (male only)
Tali’Zorah vas Normandy (male only)
Thane Krios (female only)
To pursue romantic relationships, speak to the love interest as much as possible. They almost always have something new to say after each Priority mission is complete, so always make it a point to speak with them then. Some of them may require gifts in order to please them. These gifts can be purchased at the store in the Hospital on the Citadel.

- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Set 100 enemies on fire with powers
Strategy: This achievement is unlocked by setting 100 enemies on fire using special abilities. This can be accomplished by using a variety of fire-based attacks. There’s incinerate, plus there’s an ability that turns your ammunition into fire bullets.
I recommend the Soldier or Engineer class for this one. Remember, the abilities of your partners will not count towards this achievement.

- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Description: Lift 100 enemies off the ground with powers
Strategy: This achievement is easiest done using a character that is the Adept class. The achievements that count towards this are many, including Lift, Throw, and Cluster Grenade. The latter assumes that they are thrown through the air for it to count towards the achievement, though.
Play through the game with the Adept class, and it’s almost impossible not to get this achievement.

Description: Finish all multiplayer maps or all N7 missions in single-player
Strategy: The easier way to do this is by choosing the single-player way. But if you want to play the co-op to get this achievement, just beat every map available at least once to unlock this achievement.
Alternately in single-player, you need to complete all the N7 side missions in this game. These missions are collected by speaking to Specialist Traynor, the chick hanging by the Galaxy Map, and by checking your e-mail.

Description: Escape a Reaper in the Galaxy Map
Strategy: While moving the Normandy around on the Galaxy Map, you may notice the prompt to scan. Whenever you scan in any of the systems in which there are materials to discover, a meter will appear on the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. When this meter, the Reaper awareness meter, is full, that means the Reapers will invade the system and try to overtake the Normandy. If they succeed, it’s game over.
To escape from the Reapers, leave the star system or activate a Mass Relay.

Description: Finish all multiplayer maps on Gold or all single-player missions on Insanity

Priority
Earth: Vancouver
Mars
The Citadel
Palaven
Sur’Kesh
Tuchanka
The Citadel (2)
Geth Dreadnought
